I like Dickey’s. It’s a good choice for quick, tasty barbecue. They utilize the«fast casual» concept: you order at the counter, make your own drink, etc. I’ve ordered the brisket each time I’ve been here. It’s pretty good; nothing spectacular but definitely above average. They have spicy, sweet, and regular bbq sauce. I really like the spicy. Dickey’s offers a ton of side items. I’ve tried the creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, fried okra, mac and cheese. All are tasty. Dickey’s gets bonus points for having free soft serve ice cream available after your meal.

It’s cute! It’s easy, fun, relaxing little place!!! We love their kids eat free on Sunday’s! Food is good! Drink cups are cute! My kids love the free ice cream… it’s great! You order at the counter, and then find your own seat. Self serve to BBQ sauces, drinks, and free ice cream! We love it! Always clean, the staff remembers us, and they are always friendly! :)

I ended up here because FABD kept putting me on hold. So I thought oh what the hell I’ll give it a shot. Bad Idea. The Chicken sandwich was drier than a you know what. The potato salad tasted like a «Top Chef Junior» contestant made it. It had more mayo than potato and that’s a no-no where I’m from. The Cole slaw was basically having a salad with no dressing. So kids, have at it!

Trying to figure out why this place doesn’t have a higher rating than what it does. I was shocked at how good it is. Maybe that’s the reason. People in Louisville don’t know good barbecue? I’m not sure, man… But it was fantastic. I went with the brisket because it was the daily special and I’m cheap and poor. The brisket is chopped, which is cool. I prefer chopped to sliced. Smoked awesomely, though. GREAT flavor. They have like 12 sides to choose from. Went with the baked beans and potato salad. Which is the All-American meal, isn’t it. Barbecue sandwich with baked beans and potato salad. Two different types of potato salad to choose from — Dill and Mustard. Chose mustard. Was good. Nothing special about it. But liked it. Baked beans were excellent. Probably had some BBQ sauce in it, I guess. But was excellent. The lady behind the counter also let me taste some Baked Potato Casserole. Shoot! That stuff was freaking unreal. I’m now kicking myself that I didn’t get more of it. Also awesome — their BBQ sauces are on heat, so you have to dip out the sauces you want, and it’s on the counter by the drink machine. Their hot sauce isn’t that hot, but has a great smokey, kinda hot flavor. Really, it’s just about perfect. I’ll certainly be visiting Dickey’s again. It has immediately jumped up on my favorite BBQ joint list in this city.

We love the brisket. Can’t tell about much else because that’s all we order! Onion tanglers are tasty and the mac and cheese is respectable.

My whole entire school is addicted to the place, we probably eat here 2−3x a week. The food is delicious, definitely a paradise for barbecue fans. I am almost going to be sad when I graduate that I won’t be so close to Dickies on a daily basis. Side note the deal of the day is just that a great deal and a big meal. Love this place

Overall, Dickey’s is great if you want good barbecue, quick, and at a decent price. I ordered a Little Hoagie with waffle fries and a Ceasar salad for sides. The salad was pretty standard fair. Fresh, but nothing special. The fries were crispy, well seasoned, and definitely some of the best fries I’ve had. The barbecue, however, is where this place shines. My pulled pork was tender, juicy, and delicious. I topped it with the original sauce — a very good red sauce with just a hint of spiciness. I got halfway through the sandwich before I remembered to put my pickles on! I would definitely come here again. Quiet, casual atmosphere and solid good food will most likely make me a regular in the future.

By far the worst meal I’ve had in ages. The restaurant inside was dirty, food tasted like it was drenched in salt. They couldn’t even get the green beans right. How do you mess up green beans?? We only took a few bites out of our food before throwing every thing away.

I had the roasted turkey breast with the baked potato casserole and side salad. The baked potato casserole was delicious — it’s slightly thick, which I enjoy. The roasted turkey was tender, though it, alone, wouldn’t have had much flavor — I added a little original bbq sauce, which was very flavorful. When you order your meal, the gentleman cuts and preps the meat right there in front of you — you can see that it’s fresh. It’s a very casual environment with seating for couples or small groups. They also provide free vanilla ice cream :)

Just tried this joint for the first time tonight. Let’s just say I could taste the fact that it was a chain restaurant immediately. The ribs were salty beyond belief. I ate two and was so overwhelmed I threw the rest away. The beans had enough pepper in them to season every meal I’ve had in the past month. The price for a half rack of ribs and a side of beans was right around 20 bucks. For that price it better be top notch bbq. I might as well have flushed that twenty down the toilet. This place is a disgrace to barbeque. Will never go near it again. Not trying to bash this joint for any other reason than a genuine displeasure for the food.

Was in the mood for BarBQ so my wife and I decided to check out Dickey’s tonight. There was a short line at around 6:30, but the wait was short. We decided to split a rack of ribs. They were fall off the bone tender and the sides were good as well. We will be back to try the pulled pork.

We eat at Dickey’s about once a week, sometimes more. The food is good and there are a lot of sides to select from. The daily deal is a very good deal. Last two times I went, Tuesday of this week, and last Thursday, my food was cold and I had to keep repeating my order. Cold okra is not cool. Normally okra is made to order but I believe they gave me a bag of okra that had been sitting a while. I am a fan but if this continues I’ll stop going to Dickey’s.

This was the 2nd Rockies we have eaten at the other in S.C. both were good. The food tasted great, was a good deal and my son(and I) really liked the free ice cream, we made root beer floats from or drinks but could barley east them we were so full.

I tried this place out to see if they could live up to my favorite BBQ joint and was sorely disappointed. The ribs were not fall off the bone as described and overly salty. The sides were not very good and my daughter said her briscuit was fatty and nasty. My friend got the pulled pork and he did enjoy his, but he tried to give his sides away. I will most likely not visit again.

We visited for our first time for lunch. We had heard mixed reviews and wanted to try it out. We walked in and one family was in front of us. It was awkward to stand and wait to place an order. We stood for a long time before we actually ordered. Once it was our turn, we had to tell the guy several times what our order was. Then we waited to pick sides and eventually pay. They were basically making each persons order individually. So my order was done and on the tray way before the rest of my party’s. The food was good, but pretty expensive for a quick service bbq lunch. I think if they were given some professional advice on how to be more efficient I think they would be a better restaurant. I’m glad we went after the lunch rush. I can’t imagine how long the wait might be if you went during a busier time.

Went to Dickey’s on a Saturday afternoon for lunch as I’d heard good things from a few friends, and I really like BBQ(see Momma’s for a local). I found the menu to be very confusing but after a few minutes, I saw the sandwiches and platters. The cook(the guy who hand carved the meat) was very helpful and recommended I try the jalepeno sausage. I ended up with the Western Sandwich jalapeño sausage and pulled pork. For sides I had the hashbrown/loaded potatos and macaroni. I thought the food was excellent, everything I tried. I’ll be back for certain. My 3 year old daughter thought some of her sides were heavily seasoned(too spicy daddy) so pay attention to what you’re getting for kids. She was a huge fan of the free ice cream. Nice touch. The shift manager came around and made sure we knew about the ice cream too. Looking forward to a Dickeys out near Dixie!

Hubby and I wanted to like this place because it’s so close, but too many things just weren’t good. The chicken breast was dry, the green beans were terrible, the ice tea was bad and the restaurant was freezing cold. The brisket and the cold slaw were okay and the service there was good, but that won’t be enough to bring us back unfortunately. P. S. They don’t serve beer. Strange having BBQ without beer.

Although I completely agree with the other reviews, I feel the problem is just inexperienced restaurateurs or just a bad layout. What they have is a good location and a good product, what they lack is any organization or workflow which has lead to poor service. I am not sure how other locations are set up but this seems to be the worst possible way to run a food line. Imagine the Qdoba/Moes concept but done unnecessarily to BBQ. There is nothing made to order with toppings and so forth so I have no idea why they are trying the same idea. I don’t need to see you weigh the meat and plate my food. It’s pretty simple: choose your meats, choose your sides, add a drink, pay your bill. Plus I am pretty sure they could use a glass divider as it feels like everyone is just a bit to close to the food I am going to be eating. Now aside from all of the issues that need to be worked out, the food was actually pretty good. Meats are good overall with the chicken, pork and ribs being the best for me. Rolls are hot n fresh, potato casserole was great, mac n cheese did not disappoint, and the fries are dropped as they are ordered(again the workflow from hell, if you order your sides halfway down the line you are waiting on anything fried after you pay) Also we got one small cup of bbq sauce for two togo orders, but our fridge is stocked with SweetBabyRays and FamousDave sauces. To be fair when Momma’s opened their inexperience showed too, but the food needs to be the focus for a business open less than a month. I still feel Momma’s setup is just plain akward and uninviting but their food is awesome. You lose some of that local touch with Dickeys since they probably have less freedom with the cooking and menu. All in all I liked the food, but was just dumbfounded by how the place was setup and run. I would hate to see a lunch rush as the looks of confusion/panic were priceless on a slow night. My advice change quickly, the Louisville area loves new places but you may only get one chance to gain their business. I usually go back for solid food, but when I see issues like this I space it out a month or two and hope they have fix the issues. They do promote ordering ahead, but with the workflow I only see that being a complete disaster. Tip: Don’t be in a hurry or expect fast service
