Been to Joe’s about a dozen times or more the food and staff are great… Well the food is tasty and the staff is friendly, love the fact that you can get a half portion of a sandwich and a salad for $ 9 which makes me happy inside. I never had a bad experience at Joe’s but things have changed a little since they have opened. The portion sizes are smaller, but you will not leave there hungry… The old portion where huge I mean huge a half salad was like getting a whole Salad at other places enough to feed two people… Now sadly the half salads only feeds one person but still, a lot for four bucks. also they no longer deliver unless you have a big order like over 50 bucks. But i saw this coming as they were stretching their self tin with the delivery service. But still my favorite place to get a sandwich and salad.

The Food: Mad Maple Baked Turkey: Turkey, apricot aioli, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato. One word: Amazing! I’m not mad at all! The Price? $ 5.25. Reasonable for a delicious deli sandwich! Anything Else? Free cookies! I love free things, especially delicious cookiness. Overall Opinion: Yes! my two pence. The staff was friendly, atmosphere very laid back and the food was fresh and fantastic! Eat here! Do it!

It gives me a lot of piece of mind that I can call in(or order online – even a day in advance) a sandwich and salad for lunch one day and know that I can enter the line right at the cash register to pick up my order. Some counter service restaurants don’t have as many people working so you can’t fly by ordering customers to pick up your ready to go lunch. Joe Davola’s delivers efficient service in this way – but as everyone else points out they do not actually deliver your food to you unless you meet the criterion of a very special set of circumstances. I really wonder how many deliveries they make on an average day. Their French Onion soup, Cobb salad and Santa Fe salad stand out as my favorites. Despite their namesake’s basis in the 90’s, this sandwich shop is tech savvy and offers free WiFi for customers in addition to accurately updating their daily soups on their website. Way to go! This would be 5 stars, but all the Davola delivers logos on their site and the occasional t-shirt I see bearing the same slogan have forced my idea of Davola’s perfection to consist of me sitting around the house on a lazy and rainy Saturday calling for a soup and sandwich delivery.

Great sandwiches. We ate in, but our local friends that took us said that they love that they deliver. The Beligerant BLT was delicious and the tomato dill soup was tasty– but a little over sugared.

I’ve been eating here even before they were officially open(they made sandwiches and let people who work around there try for free). The sandwiches have crazy names but they’re crazy good. Pick anything and you’ll like the unique combination of ingredients. Do half and half so you’ll get to try two things. I really like the pork tenderloin sandwich(it’s no longer on the menu) the I-arti-choke-ya salad and the santa fe salad. They condensed the menu a lot since they first open. Really friendly staff!

Joe Davola’s has a big sign on the front page of their website that says, «Davola Delivers» so I attempted to place an order for delivery. However, as it turns out they will only deliver to addresses within 3 miles that place a delivery minimum of $ 50.00. Since I didn’t need 10 sandwiches I decided not to place an order. However, I would strongly suggest that Joe Davola’s change their sign to «Davola’s Caters» since most people who are looking for delivery don’t need to eat a minimum of $ 50 worth of sandwiches for lunch.

Sandwich heaven! Stopped by this place while on tour, as I tend to try and make it to highly reviewed places on Unilocal when I’m in a new town. The sandwiches are made with care and are generous. Definitely worth the trip! The prices are great, too. Try the potato salad with anything, you won’t regret it. And Joe even threw in some free cookies since I was an out-of-towner!

The food is good, and everyone who works here is friendly(and extra friendly if you’re of the fairer sex, ha!). You should figure on spending about 10 bucks for lunch. I would have given four stars just a few months ago, but they reduced the size of the portions they serve significantly, which was a big selling point for me.

Joe Davola’s is THEPLACE to eat lunch in Louisville. The chicken salad sandwhich is to die for. The cobb salad is also amazing. The food is fresh and quick to order and the workers are overly nice EVERY time I go in to eat. If you are choosing between a sanwhich and salad go for the half and half… the salad portions are huge still. I really love this place and would eat there every day if I lived in Louisville still.

This place is hands down the best lunch spot in the city. Mad maple turkey sandwich and tomato dill soup. I could eat it everyday and actually have for a couple weeks as I work right across the street. I’m telling you, try this place. You won’t regret it.

Solid soups and sandwiches. I really dig the pork tenderloin sandwich. Although people seem to praise the BLPT(BLT + pimento cheese), it turns out pimento cheese is not really my thing(don’t blame me, I’m from California!). I did like the Benedictine sandwich quite a bit. The only soup I have tried is the tomato dill, and while I generally don’t like tomato soup the addition of the dill makes it really tasty. I have yet to try a salad, but my boyfriend liked his and it was definitely sizable. I think the best thing about Joe Davola’s has to be the half-n-half feature. Unlike most sandwich shops, you can get any sandwich or salad together or with soup. So often you are limited to a garden or caesar salad or really basic sandwiches. This is perfect for the indecisive diner! Beverage choices are nice and include local options like Rooibee Red Tea(tasty). Other points in this joint’s favor: great prices, convenient delivery, funny name, courteous and enthusiastic staff and especially owner, and the fresh baked cookies.

This place is unassuming, even understated, from the outside. Inside is a great deli environment. Good vegetarian selections — the Won-Ton Endangerment salad is fantastic. The half-n-half is the way to go, though it’s more like a half-n-full(half sandwich, with a still-very-large salad portion); I’d prefer to get save a buck and get a meal I can eat in one sitting… but the price is right for the quality and portions offered.

The owners Christopher and James are running a sweet joint. The two of us came in and shared some ½ & ½s. I had the ½ Benedictine BLT with a bowl of tomato dill. He had the BLPT and subbed the B for a generous chunk of avocado,(nicely suggested by Christopher) with the artichoke salad. We shared it all and thought the portions and ingredients we’re awesome. We also had a glass bottle of Mexican coke and we’re given 2 small tasty sugar cookies for free. The soup was really wonderful. We had a hard time deciding between it or the cauliflower and cheese.(both of which we got free samples of first) They were super friendly and welcoming when we arrived, eager to explain the menu and offer suggestions as this was our first time in. Oh! And while we ate we watched a hilarious seinfeld episode. Wonderful place. We hope they thrive. We’ll be back again. And ask them about the letter they received from«Joe» ha!

When I moved into my apartment, first thing my friend said was. «Oh THERE’S Joe Davola’s, I’ve heard that place has great sandwiches.» Took me a few weeks to walk all the way across the street but I’m so glad I did. Lo and behold, they have GREAT sandwiches. I got the half-ham & swiss and half-Santa Fe salad. Both were A+++. The caramelized onions on the sandwich were INCREDIBLE. Added bonus? Cookies! Other notes: the staff was super-friendly and seemed to actually enjoy their jobs; they have wi-fi; no minimum for delivery.

Service, menu items and quirkiness all added up to a fantastic experience. The sides alone!!! I wanted to try them all. I can’t wait for my next trip to Louisville to go back! vegetarian date loved the meatless loaf, and the salads are fun. Yes, there is a fun salad. I was thinking the asian salad needs something like baby corns or crunchy chow mein noodles, snow peas, water chestnuts, maybe. it wasn’t *quite* «Asian» enough. But not enough of an issue to detract from the overall quality and deliciousness!

One of the best sandwich places I’ve been to thus far. I had the half soup and sandwich combo. My sandwich, the Disgruntled Pork Tenderloin, was quite savory with cranberry-apple compote and caramelized onions. The mushroom soup was deliciously creamy. Service was also excellent. A big plus? They deliver to my house :)

I dig it! On a recent lazy afternoon I wanted a sandwich but had no desire to leave my apartment. Bingo. Joe Davolas. No minimum to deliver and the sandwich got here in two shakes of a lambs tail. I had the tuna, it was great, easy on the mayo, which is how i like it. It was indeed, crazy good.

Joe Davol’s menu sub-title is: Crazy Good Salads and Sandwiches; and indeed, I’ve had two very nice old-school sandwiches and soups in my first two visits… the turkey breast is REAL turkey breast not that thinly sliced plastic crap you buy at the supermarket. The tomato soup is thick and hearty. Lots of nice touches at Joe’s such as the caramelized onions for sandwiches. Look forward to trying a salad here.
