I’m assuming that by «Buy Local,» Taylor W. meant LIFEbar. Probably good advice and I generally try to give preference to independent businesses rather than chains. But LIFEbar doesn’t have a drive-thru at Rainbow Blossom, so on a hot day when my dog is in the car with me… I’m going for convenience. Smoothie King wins at convenience. My smoothie was cold, tasty, prepared quickly, and served directly in my car. That seems like a good deal to me. The menu is a little overwhelming. Nearly infinite combinations is part of the appeal of a smoothie bar, but drive thru menus should be abridged. I don’t care for bananas in non-banana form, so I needed the cashier to pick something banana-free for me. There was no way I was going to find the bananaless option on the menu board without backing up the line. Look at how Starbucks and McDonalds do it. They probably have sufficient marketing budgets to figure out the science of drive thru menu boards. Every other smaller company should feel free to copy their homework. But that is probably an issue for corporate and not this particular location. In the meantime, just ask the cashier for help or enroll in some sort of speed reading seminar.
