Zeitgeist Gallery Lowell

After spending some time hanging out, conversing with the staff and loving the masks and colouring art, I ended up deciding to purchase a little ‘urban self defence stick’ by Thomas Hart. I believe it’s a piece of broken baseball bat, happily smoothed and painted to look like a grumpy and cutely ferocious whale. While I’m very unlikely to actually use a weapon against anybody, I love that a piece of art can be a weapon against the conglomerating assimilating powers of urbanity. I’m quite pleased with this little piece, and I think it’s very cute! The gallery and the little vintage clothing store in the back has tremendous character and the staff were incredibly nice. They were very pleased to meet somebody who had come down from Canada. They had lots of interesting art for sale, metal and wood antiques and sculptures, poetry zines: D, bits of vintage posters and manuals. It was a lovely place. The next time I’m luckily enough to visit Lowell MA I’m definitely going to make time to drop by again!
