It has been a while since I visited here, so I will have to go by my shoddy memory. I seem to recall that the staff was friendly and answered my questions. There was a wide selection of both drinks and yummy-looking food(including fruit)! I can’t say much about the drink because I merely reconfirmed that I don’t like Cappuccinos. The price was OK and I was given a styrofoam cup. The place has a nice ambiance and I always enjoy looking at the local art for sale. :)

If ya want to get to know a new place check out their local coffee shop– that has always been my motto. If you want to feel the pulse of a community drop into their local coffee shop, and enjoy a cup of coffee and people watch. As an author I sit in coffee shops with my laptop and for all anyone can tell I’m just enjoying my coffee and catching up with FB on the free WiFi– but in reality I’m doing research for what ever book I’m writing at the time. I’m a people watcher. Not eaves dropping(not on purpose anyway, but I have gotten several good phrases this way) I study people. Their faces, Their reactions. Their emotions. What I really have come to love about Lower Lake Coffee Co(besides their delicious coffee, teas and muffins and WONDERFUL local art on the walls) is their friendly no matter how long I sit I’m not rushed, and their remain helpful, friendly and their down home hospitality never wavers. I purposely don’t go in often enough to be considered a regular(but they have plenty of those) I don’t really want to be on that list– because then I’d be too conspicuous as a people watcher. Now that I’ve outed myself, guess it doesn’t matter– so guess where you’ll be finding me on any given morning this fall and winter? Vanilla Chai Tea anyone?

I go to Lower Lake Coffee a couple of times a month, since a friend recommended it a few months ago. I don’t go out for coffee much and when I do, my first choice is Lower Lake Coffee. I like the independent vibe. I like the local art and news. I like the owner and her staff. I like the coffee. I do not love the individually wrapped pastries at all so I skip those.

I disagree with the other review — I had a great time here. The ladies who were running the counter were very chatty with me and answered all my questions. I went there twice in the last weekend while on a trip and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and charm of the coffee shop. There’s local artists work all over the walls, photos of the workers and regulars, chalkboard menu — very homey feel. I’m not a huge coffee fan, meaning I don’t like a punch in the mouth with a strong cup of coffee and bitter after taste. I like my coffee a little sweeter and lighter. I ordered the mocha the first day — an easy standby to ease the bitter and add some sweet. Not only was it the perfect mix of chocolate and coffee but they topped it off with homemade whipped cream! Oh I was in heaven. My friend and I went the next day and I got the Jamaican — had some flavored syrups in there, cinnamon, espresso and again the heavenly whipped cream. I LOVEDIT! My friend loved her coffee too but I forget what she got; her poppy sead muffin with lemony frosting was delish! One of the regulars chatted with us as we ate which was a welcomed treat from the usual Starbucks crowd that burries their noses in laptops or cell phones. I was happy for the human interaction and even happier for some super good coffee in a very unexpected place. I only wish it was closer to me!

This coffee was good, but if they don’t know you by name good luck with any kind of service. I almost had to jump up and down to get the person behind the counter to notice me.
