New décor, newly refurbished bathrooms, same great service, ice cold shot glasses, and awesome live music! The Gas Light still brings it! Thanks for another great night:). #Gas Light Loyal #nicholasejohns1

I am giving this a one star and leaving it here until it becomes a no-smoking bar. It is 2016. Everyone knows that is absolutely terrible for everyone’s health. Even New Orleans passed a rule banning smoking in restaurants and bars.

Not impressed. We hadn’t been here in year and thought we’d try it for a drink. Nasty, smokey, and dirty!!! The drinks were good but we only stayed for about thirty minutes. The restrooms were awful. It smelled like rotten sewage and was just down right filthy. I would rather have gone to an outhouse. It may have been cleaner. I would not recommend this place.

Quite a nice barrel aged Manhattan. Only had a few nights in Lubbock but far and away the best cocktails. Burger was tasty as well. Bartenders were very friendly but only one stood out as a professional’s I would go back.

This place is awful. The only redeeming quality is the gorgeous patio. Food is way overpriced and mediocre. My party of 6 took 2.5 hours to get our food and checks. One of my group had to have his burger sent back because there was cheese on t, when it came back(after everyone else was done with their food) it still had cheese around the edge like it had just been picked off. Server still tried to charge us for the burger. The drinks were overpriced, whiskey sour was $ 9 and a carafe of sangria was $ 24. I had a small app, chicken skewers and paid for a carafe my bill was $ 42! The server left the mistaken cheeseburger and charges someone else at my table for it. So sad, this was my going away dinner and The Gas Light did nothing to contribute to a nice evening, nor was the staff or manager apologetic about the service.

We really enjoyed this place. Not too loud or too crowded. Would definitely come back.

Best patio in town! The staff is super friendly and the cheesesteak panini is fantastic! The mini burgers are also very good. I’ve seen a few negative reviews about GL being a smoking bar. Honestly it’s one of the many reasons I go there. There are a ton of non smoking bars people can go to, but not many you can still smoke at. I choose to smoke and I choose to go to smoking bars. Caprock Café is just down the street, it’s also fun and smoke free. Terrible when some one is playing music, I support local music, but Gas Light is a terrible place for it!!! I usually leave as soon as people start playing. Terrible decision on managements part! I actually take a star away because of the music.

Walked in, walked out. Warning: this is a smokers bar… and there is smoke, lots of it! Like walking into a cloud of cancer inducing poisonous fog. Gross!

I really wanted to like this place. Pros: The crowd was lively and somewhat fun to watch. The live music was a nice touch and helped it earn its third star. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. From what I could see, the staff was attentive to the customers and gave good service. An attractive woman, who was at a table with her friends, gave me her beer to try. That was my highlight. Cons: Lubbock needs to get the smoking is bad for your health memo. The bar had a cloud of smoke that seemed to hang over the ceiling and everyone young and old seemed to enjoy lighting up. The staff smokes, everyone smokes… When in earshot of the bar, I could hear the staff complain about their customers. That is normal, but just tiring. Final thoughts: this is Lubbock and I try not to have any preconceived notions of what they might do for fun in this town. For Lubbock, this bar should probably be rated at 4 – 5 stars. I guess I had higher expectations based on the reviews that I read before I tried the bar. The place was not bad and had a warm inviting atmosphere. I’m just trying to adjust to Lubbock’s smoking policy and I don’t think I ever will.

My Bad… did not realize you could smoke in Lubbock… I should have just left. But also… the service was so terrible so I do not mind only giving 2 stars. We tried to open a door or two to air out the place… they were so mad at us. Waitress never came back and we left after one drink. It was dead in here also. Oh well. Liked the décor though.

Cool place to kick back and enjoy some drinks with friends. The Gas Light has a great intimate atmosphere that is low key and very enjoyable. Perfect place to take a date or a low key outing with a group of friends.

This was my favorite stop along out«divorce party» route in Lubbock. This was probably the one place that made this city girl from Arizona feel like she belonged. It was cool, easy-going, modern yet relaxed. There was comfortable lounge-type seating(couches around coffee tables) and a guitar player entertainer. Maybe it’s common in Lubbock, but this place has much cheaper drinks from what I’m used to! High five to that kids. Well drinks were $ 4 and my double G&T was $ 6. I decided to splurge. Pretty bathrooms too, hey, us girls notice these things.

I love me a dry dirty Martini and they served me two that were just perfect($ 9ea. well vodka) My mister(happy to see it on the list) ordered a newcastle. Service: Perfect, with our very sweet and friendly waitress. Hard wooden chairs: SUCKED!!! made me want to leave rather than sit a spell. Atmosphere: Not to shabby. Very open floor plan with several attempts at décor, perhaps shabby chic??? We did come in after the Super Bowl, maybe it was set up for that crowd. Bathroom hand soap: Smelled delicious! I was complimented on my lovely smell after using it :) FOOD: First we order the Ahi nachos, it came out with 6 – 8? pan seared slices of tuna toped with a wasabi sauce, corn, and pico de gallo served on a tostada chip. Overpriced @$ 13 but very delicious. We wish we would had ordered two rather than our next selection… which was a smothered taco wrap… hhmm. meat was dry and tasteless, not nearly enough cheese on top to consider it «smothered» and it was a very petite serving for a plate that sounds manly and costs $ 10 Overall I would defiantly go back, overpriced? Yes, but we are in Texas and its slim pickins for good food in these parts.

Doesnt look like much from the outside, but the inside is beautifully decorated and sophisticated. Don’t miss Kyle Abernathy performing… he is great! Nice place to drink and unwind with adult friends and escape the monotony of other drinking establishments in Lubbock. A little pricey, but worth it, just like another reviewer mentioned. Also, as previously mentioned, smoking is indoors, and non smokers will stink as well after leaving here.

One of my favorite places in Lubbock to go with friends for a casual, easy night out. It’s quiet, usually not crazy or crowded, and has a really nice(pretty, even!) patio that I love to sit out on when it gets warm. They have great drinks, martinis esp, and usually always have a special of some sort. Inside is really smoky though, so be prepared for that.

Best place in town to drink, especially if you’re looking to get away from the college crowd.

This is the best place in Lubbock to go, have a drink and be able to have an actual conversation with your friends. They have a great patio with heaters for the cooler evenings, a nice long bar inside, couches, tables and even a private room that you can reserve. The atmosphere is very laid back and«dark» with candles and a few lamps for lighting. It rather reminded me of a coffee shop the first time I went in. The prices are a bit more than most of the other places in Lubbock, but then, I believe you get what you pay for!

I really like this place. It’s a lot nicer than your typical Lubbock bar. The prices are pretty typical of other bars, but you get the feel that you’ve left the college bar scene. So that makes up for the extra cash you spend. I have taken several friends here with me and now they keep asking when we will be going back again! Which will definitely be soon! :)

OK, I have to admit, The Gas Light is pretty cool. It’s one of those kind of ‘fancy’ places, where everyone likes to go and pretend they are in a ‘real’ big city, but if you can put that aside it is pretty fun. There is a patio that overlooks a little patch of water, which is pretty nice, and the drinks are alright. They usually have some special or another going on, so you don’t have to drop a crazy amount of cash. I think maybe one night that have two three dollar Crown or something like that. The bartenders are really chill, too. One cool thing about it — now, I’m not totally sure if they still do this — is that they have live music every now and then. I went one night and they had this guy on a keyboard that was just hilarious. You can even make a fool of yourself and go up and sing with him. Totally worth checking out if you need something a little different.
