Super solid, dependable food here. Their pizzas are A+ and their steaks are good too. There is usually live music if you go for dinner, sometimes they’re pretty good, but sometimes the musicians can be a bit odd, which can distract from dinner. I’ve never been absolutely blown away by anything on their menu, but it’s all been good. It’s a great place to take your family or a date, nothing too wacky or fancy, and has a good solid dose of Lubbock charm. My only qualms with Triple-J are with their beer and with their service. Their beer always has been pretty meh to me. Their IPA’s are tame, their Pale Ales, Brown Ales, and others I’ve tried have tasted pretty watered down, sort of like a BJ’s brewhouse beer: solid, drinkable, but not a lot of character. Their service has been slow at times, and more than once has come with a side of sass. Nothing that’s a dealbreaker, but definitely something to expect.

First visit. Loved it. The open kitchen with flames high on the grill, live music most nights, terrific atmosphere for a steakhouse. I had a ribeye steak and it was Cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. Many side items to choose from. Can’t wait to go back.

Probably closer to 4.5 but I’ll give it to them. Whenever my family comes in town from the Dallas area, we ALWAYS eat here. It’s not even discussed anymore it’s a known fact. I also always recommend this place when other families not from the area come into town. So why? We generally all get steak, but mom has gotten some chicken dishes she’s loved as well. My steak has always been perfectly cooked. I love the side Caesar salad I get along with the mash potatoes. It’s always consistent and really good. They also have great bread before the meal. I also feel like this place has a vibe that no other restaurant in lubbock has. It can get decently loud so if you’re looking for a super quiet & romantic place this probably isn’t it. However, it’s a great place for families & friends & even birthday parties!

Love the food. Love the beer. Hate the service. Triple J has always been one of my favorite steakhouses in Lubbock — enough that I chose them for my graduation dinner twice(once for undergrad, once for my masters). Their steaks are delicious — personally love a medium rare kitty ribeye. They have a huge selection of beers that are brewed in house and taste awesome. However, the service is a complete coin toss — usually erring on the side of poor rather than great. I have had a surplus of waiters get annoyed when I ask for multiple things. When I say multiple things, I mean a straw and a few extra napkins. Last night, the waitress began the night by telling us she has been«stuck here» all day for graduation in a double shift, rolling her eyes. She was less than pleased(which is not what you want when someone is serving you for a celebratory graduation dinner). Asking for anything was a «problem» that obviously deserved an awkward eye roll. When they brought out by food, my mashed potatoes were cold and hard — who wants that? I asked the waitress to get me some fresh ones. I didn’t ask for a fresh meal or her first born child or anything, but her blatant eye rolls at me for the rest of my meal made me feel like I should have. I felt like a problem customer for the rest of the night. That is not the way I want to feel during an $ 80 meal. The manager did come out and comp part of our meal. That was nice. Long story short, I understand it was not her fault the mashed potatoes were cold — never thought it was. I won’t blame my waitress when there is an issue with the food because 9⁄10 times it’s out of their control(unless it has sat in the window too long, which was not the case here). In exchange, don’t get all grumpy with me if there is an issue with it and I send it back. I would keep it at the 4 or 5 stars the food deserves, but I have had multiple issues like this at Triple J on various occasions during various levels of «busyness». Would I go to Triple J again? Yes. However, I most certainly would not choose them again for a celebration dinner(valentines, graduation, etc.)

We love this place. The building is in a historic area of town and the atmosphere is great. They have a good menu selection without being overly complicated. We had, steaks, chicken, chicken fried steak, beef tips, and salads. Everything was great but the steak was exceptional. The mashed potatoes, sweet potato custard, and mixed veggies are all great sides. I hear the beer they make is really good too.

As a non-Texan, visitor to Lubbock, I wanted to experience a likely-only in West Texas experience. I found it at JJJ. Chicken-fried steak, pot pies and killer salads. Fresh rolls with honey butter. Fried green chile appetizer. Most importantly, brewed on the premises Raider Red Ale. Cody took awesome care of us and welcomed us profusely. He’s a font of culinary knowledge in regard to Dallas and Lubbock. The adaptive reuse building in the Depot District added to the rustic ambience. It’s a must stop when in town now!

I’m the oldest male at the table. Better pay attention to me and make sure my food and service is perfect. Why? Because I’m probably the one paying for this dinner, deciding the tip, and writing the outcome of this review. I even said to several employees I used Unilocal to find this place and I like to review restaurants. If you burn my food after that heads up and decide to just cover it up with gravy and send it to me anyway then be prepared for your less than stellar impression you left on my tummy and my temperament. Its a chicken fried steak. You call it old faithful on your menu. Get it right. To say something nice, I did like the queso dip and chips as well as the crispy spicy fried peppers. They even had a selection of creative sauces for dipping. Now to get back to the whip, they brought me the wrong beer and my cousin the wrong dressing with her salad even after a small discussion about how great the dressing is that was ordered. Don’t smoke weed before you go to work. I think this place needs more adult supervision and committing to the quality that they probably could achieve. Once again succumbing to my softer side, I now realize I also liked the cream corn with the green chili mixed in. It had lots of spice and flavor. My wife liked the chicken pot pie. They had a really amazing live guitar and fiddle playing the pants of contemporary songs reworked into slow country. That music was the best part of the dinner.

Exploring Lubbock was surprisingly a lot of fun, especially The Depot district where Triple J Chophouse resides! After a long day of work, a nice cold beer brewed right there at Triple J seemed the perfect way to start the evening. You could tell this spot was popular with the number patrons passing through, but the open — almost barn space — was large enough to accommodate groups of all shapes and sizes. So, I moseyed on up to the bar and settled on the IPA. I must say, coming from Denver, I assume all IPAs are going to be incredibly hoppy, but this had a much milder flavor and didn’t make your tongue feel as of you just bit into tree bark, which honestly is something I look forward to from time to time. Yes, I like the bitterness of IPAs in moderation, so this IPA wasn’t necessarily to my IPA liking, however the food and service was pretty dang good. But if you like more subtle flavor to your IPA, this brewery is for you. I looks the red ale is a popular choice, too. Going back to the food. I’ve possible never tasted grilled chicken that flavorful and tender before. The char marks were deep prevalent, and the chicken was moist — a balance that is sometimes hard to achieve. My side, the sautéed button mushrooms were also divine. And to top it off, the server was attentive and even the manager went around to each table checking on everyone. Top notch. Top notch.

I love this place. When guests come to town, it’s my first choice for a dinner out, and I make it by for a beer or to at least fill a growler when I can. The food is good to excellent no matter what you order. My favorites are the green chile burger with sweet potato crinkly fries for lunch and the ribeye steak with veggies for dinner. And did I mention the beer? They brew their own here — the only place in town that does — and they usually have four to six varieties to choose from. I love the wheat and, when they have it, the winterfest(a barley wine they serve carefully, because it will knock you on your seat). The atmosphere is fun, too, especially when they have live music.
