I get flare ups in my lower back and tingling and numbness in my arms and legs and have gotten regular massages for years. I live in the DC area and there are only two therapists I’ve found so far in the world I would rate as five star. Tim in Lubbock, Texas and another therapist in New Orleans. Just to explain the rating system: One star goes to the«therapist» in La Paz, Bolivia. It was vigorous and used at least a liter of baby oil, but I don’t think one pressure point was discovered. I wasn’t too upset, I think it cost me 7 dollars. Three star: feels good and relaxing and some pressure points are discovered and the area in pain receives attention. One massage in Thailand rates as a three star. The review for the other Thai massage belongs in the Thai boxing section. Four star: therapist discovers most of the problem areas, targets root causes, and recommends stretches to do at home. This is the best I’ve found in DC. Five star: What sets the best therapists apart is a that they have a superior knowledge of human anatomy, intuitively find all the problem areas, and target root causes through pressure and active stretching. That’s what Tim does. The only other therapist who came close to Tim’s level of intuitiveness and care was an older therapist with 20+ years experience. I just wished Tim practiced in Washington, D.C.
