Just get the dipped cone with vanilla ice cream and keep driving or head to the lake to enjoy(clientele can be *interesting*). The large is huge, so only get it if you’re super hungry… like dessert for dinner hungry. ;)

Every time I go here it’s not because the food is the best. No, because of childhood memories. Burgers fries and shakes. Everything you need.

Been to many Fosters Freeze chains and still a loyal customer but this particular location was a bit of a disappointment. 1. Service was horrible, didnt get my order right and got the cold shoulder when approached politely. 2. Food looked like it was just thrown together with stale veggies. 3. Vanilla should be vanilla, not mixed with other flavors.

The«boy» running the cash register was super rude. My husband was ordering a milk shake and I was going to just add on to his order the guy says rudely,” I don’t understand what’s going on and said are you paying separately or no?” I was confused as to why he couldn’t do it all on the same order but whatever, so I wait for him to be able to take my order because he proceeded to make other orders in the mean time. Waiting time… I feel that they don’t think they need to have great customer service and can be super rude because they are just a tourist stop for food. It stuck and I will likely eat elsewhere in our travels.

i was craving a burger and fries, I was really disappointed, but it was my fault, for a burger and fries for under $ 5 I should have spent more and driven up the road to another place I wrote a review for. The staff were very friendly, the place was clean, but the food! The burger was seriously small, something a ten year old would eat, the fries, Krinkle cut limp fries. Who eats this poorly thought out food? Apparently a lot of people, good enough for them? Ok, but this is food I wouldn’t let my dog eat. This is why people have Diabetes, have to take little blue pills to satisfy their wives. It’s why they look down and don’t see thier penis, they see thier belly. I love comfort food, next time I’ll get in my car and keep driving.

i love Foster Freeze because it is an old part of Lucerne, I love the Icecream products, and it hires locally. I think its cute. Can’t imagine Lucerne without it and the owners are community minded. They have Real onion rings, too.

From Sacramento to Fort Bragg, Fosters was always a for sure stop. Now that my nephews are older we stop there now as well. The last few times each employee has been super rude. The products I remember growing up are far below par. I understand they are teens and could care less about their job… but maybe it’s time to find people who will care about their job.

If you have children, it’s nice that there’s a park across the street to wind their Frosty off.

Typical frosty… just like the old days. Delicious milkshakes, sundaes and cones. Crappy food. Lots of flies. Grumpy teenagers behind the counter that would rather be anywhere else.

Really disappointed. I grew up in Ukiah and we recently drove through and I told my boyfriend all about how awesome Fosters Freeze was. We waiting in a very slow line and once we got up to the registers both people went to make food. We literally stood there for probably a good 3 – 4 minutes before someone even acknowledged us. The food is mediocre. They need to staff more people and clean up the place!

Apparently Fosters Freeze are infamous and if you ever have the chance to go visit one, you need to go. This was our first time visiting one, and i must say… i am not that impressed. The food — average burgers, fries and shakes. Nothing different from what you would get anywhere really. The ambiance here is nice as they have outside seating and inside, but it is a smaller place not the best for larger groups unless you can sit outside. The service here was super slow as well. Took about 20 minutes to get our food as there was only 1 cashier working and not much staff on a Sunday. No need to return, but nice trying this place our finally.

I’ve been going here since I was a little girl, it doesn’t get better than this folks! Best shakes and ice cream around. Highly recommend the peanut butter shake and banana shake! I also love how they don’t skimp on the toppings. Will always be my first stop on the lake!

Wow called for 29 mins straight to place a order for pick up. No answer when I finally get a answer I get told there closed. It is only 8:49pm the girls says my register says 9:00pm then hangs up on me!!! Worst customer service ever! It is only 8:55pm as I finish this post!!!

Their Banana Crème Pie Twister(like a 3D milkshake) is one of the best things I have ever tasted! The other Foster Freeze in Lower Lake doesn’t have it. I think they are the only ones that have it. I have tasted many things in my life … and this makes the top 5 all time list. Try one yourself I hope they will continue to have it(supposed to be limited time only)!

Really lazy staff. On numerous occasions we’ve gone in to get dinner 15 – 20 minutes before closing, waited in line for several minutes, and then been told once we get to the front that they«aren’t making food anymore». If you want to quit making food at 8 instead of 8:30, close the damn restaurant at 8 instead of standing there and watching customers waiting in line only to turn them away. This is the third time this has happened to us this year. You know what’s even more ridiculous? The posted closing time is still 9 pm and closing at 8:30 is just employee laziness in the first place!

Clean, friendly staff, happiness everywhere! Unilocal actually guided me here but I was nervous after my Fosters Freeze experience in Lower Lake. Definitely a good place if you’re if a traveling tourist looking for a quick bite and don’t mind if it’s deep fried!

Foster’s Freeze, started in Inglewood, California by George Foster in 1946, claims to be California’s oldest fast food chain. They now have nearly 100 locations, as well as a marketing agreement with El Pollo Loco, which sells their ice cream(soft serve) products. The full name is Foster’s Old Fashion Freeze, and the full-line cafes come in a variety of shapes and sizes with full menus that include burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and rings. I was rolling through Lucerne, California(«America’s Switzerland» — but don’t tell the folks of New Glarus, Wisconsin, that!), the other day, Northern California’s beautiful lake country, and spotted a roadside Fosters at high noon. Being as it was also time to download the morning’s coffee, it seemed like an excellent opportunity to revisit this California icon. I say icon, because in one tale, the location«t-bird» girl to be later memorialized in the BB’s song«Fun, Fun, Fun.» The standard burger at Fosters is called«The Original», about a ¼ and comes dressed with lettuce, tomato, and gobs for Fosters secret sauce, on both the top and bottom of the bun. The special sauce, as at most places, is a variation of thousand island. This particular Fosters was very generous with it. As you can see from the pic of the entire sandwich, the bun was beginning to show its age, but overall, this is a good burger, and I like the fact that with the combo, they give you a choice of fries, waffle, or rings at the same price. Ambience is one thing that makes for a pleasant burger experience, of course, and sitting in the sun, next to California’s largest natural lake(entirely within California), made for a pleasant Foster’s burger stop!
