Good fresh potatoes! Got the mini which was the perfect size for lunch and a salad. Reasonable prices. They also have other food choices besides spuds like hot dogs and nachos.

We love this place. Their potatoes are covered in whatever goodness you choose. Definitely no skimping. Prices are good and they do have some other items other than potatoes. This is basically a drive through place but they do have a few picnic tables outside. The Dr. Pepper is really good too!

Love #17 — got a large the first time and had two meals, now get a mini and a salad with a tea. Love the service and speed and price is right.

The Spud is aptly named because they sell only potatoes here. But not just any old potatoes, these are mashed out and topped with just about anything you could want or think of. They have about 18 different combos to choose from: good ol’ bacon bits and butter, all the way to chili and chicken. I imagine you could probably build your own if you asked them. Primarily a drive through or take-out spot. There are seats outside, but they lack cover.

Great idea! Let’s bake a potato and spread it out on a container, then top it off with your fav fixings! No more missed spots with plain potato, every single inch is covered with deliciousness! And at a great price!

Sometimes I wonder about the stereotypical olden days, when folks seemed to only eat meat and potatoes. Then I’ll eat at The Spud and I realize it could very well be possible. Melted cheese and butter mashed with heavenly starch goodness – oh my taste buds! As a Lufkin native, this«gourmet» potato stop is one of my favorites. It may not look like much from the outside, but the menu is cheap, the service is quick, and the food is heartily satisfying. There’s even a drive through! I prefer the classic Plain Jane, but there are many different options for the more adventurous type. It may not be the healthiest lunch choice, but generally these potatoes are pretty big, so you could split it with a friend and add something like a salad to freshen it up. The only real criticism I’ve heard about The Spud is simply some potatoes have been bigger than others! If you’d like to try eating somewhere a little more off the beaten path in Lufkin, I definitely recommend The Spud.
