No DD’s on the West Coast(that I was aware of) so I made it a priority to stop in during my cross country tour. My experience was underwhelming and not at all what I had hoped it to be… womp womp womp.(After posting my review a fellow Unilocaler informed me there is a DD in Modesto, as well as the LA area… so DD lovers can now get their fix) The location is semi convenient if you are on the side of Rt. 38 that DD is located on. I had no idea when going to NJ that you could not make left or u-turns at the stoplight, what idiot thought that was a good idea??? LOL. I must’ve drove 5 miles out of my way, twice, before I caught on to the ways in which you could legally make a left turn, such a nightmare. Once I arrived, I went inside and was pleased to see this was a rather large location and very nice décor. There was a comfy looking seating area, in which one could read a book or get on the computer etc all while enjoying their sweet treats. I made my way to the counter, the only customer at the time inside or even the drive thru for that matter. The owner/manager came and asked what I wanted, I said that I would need a minute to look over the menu. He walked away without saying a word, then returned not 1 minute later, no lie, and asked what I wanted. I admit that I can read pretty fast, but damn dude there is no way I had time to look at the offerings that fast. I said I needed more time. The guy literally stood there looking at me and again asked what I wanted, UGHHHHH!!! At that point I became frustrated. It was not closing time and I was not blocking other potential customers from ordering, so what was HIS hurry??? I quickly decided to get the Pumpkin Cream donut as well as a small black coffee. The donut was a traditional donut, with icing and it was filled with whipped cream. The donut was NOT fresh at all, but the flavor overall was decent. The reason for the 3 stars was because the cup of coffee was the best cup of joe that I have had in a long time. Usually I need something sweet to balance the black coffee out(as I add no sugar or cream) but this was good enough to drink on its own… which rarely ever happens when going to other coffee places such as Starbucks etc. The dude working here needs to back off a little and relax when customers are trying to decide what to order, we are the ones paying your bills after all. He has a good thing going for him, location, coffee… just improve on the service and freshness of the donuts and it could easily be 5 stars.

There isn’t a Starbucks very close or an indie shop open so late or with a drive thru, so I head to DD. Dunkin’s okay, but nothing spectacular. This location is awesome because it has entrances from both South Ave and Rte. 48 and ample parking. It also has a drive thru which is the ultimate for convenience or a quick caffeine fix. They’ve never screwed up my order, either, and I’ve had some pretty ‘tired’ orders. They take credit cards and have no minimum. Another Godsend.
