Virginia’s #1 Top Hunted House This past Halloween I had the pleasure in taking the long 3 hour drive up to Darkwood Manor in Luray, VA from the Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area to check-out the states«#1 Top-Haunt». After working with the Peninsula Jaycees at a hunted house in Hampton, VA. I had to see what the completion was all about. After arriving at the Manor I was greeted by many of ghouls and goblins at the ticket booth where admission was $ 10, which was a steal practically for this place. The queue lines were located on the outside but this was ok considering they had a TV with randomness playing on it to keep all the guests entertained in the lines as well as a few creepers meandering throughout the area. Upon walking inside there was an old gentleman talking and then a masked older lady. The lights flickered and a masked guy jumped out of a nearby closest and I about crapped my pants I screamed so loud. Straight up the actors/volunteers did and INCREDIBLE job here, I was SUPER blown away by everything and thought process that was put into this haunted house and all the props. So much that I wanted to go again after I was done going through it the first time. I did however get a chance to talk with one of the make-up artists and logistics girls. I can’t remember her name but she answered several of my questions after I had explained that I was a part of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Hampton, VA. And that every year we construct and run a hunted house all off local donations and volunteers. The money raised is then used towards other local community events throughout the year and we were looking for some tips and insights on things that we could take back to Hampton with us to use in our haunt. Darkwood was SUPER supportive and wanted to help in anyway but that 3 hr. drive might have hindered it a bit. LoL. We did exchange haunt posters and they asked me if I wanted to go through their haunt again for free to be able to take a closer look at how they did/made all of the different props. I was SUPER excited to go through Darkwood Manor again a second time. **Overall, YOUNEEDTOVISITINOCTOBER! These guys are awesome and really know how to scare you good on Halloween. Did I mention Darkwood was ranked #13 scariest Haunted House in the Nation in 2015! Super exciting stuff; just don’t be the one who gets spooked… BOO!!! Cheers!

Darkwood Manor is always a great time. The costumes, make-up, & acting are excellent. It is worth the $ 12& is fun for the family. They recommend kids should be 10 or older. Enjoy!

You won’t find anything better for your $ 10! We had a group in front of us freak out and turn around. The monsters start right when you buy your ticket, wait in line and up until you leave to your car. They rock and even driving out as far as I did from DC it was well worth it! Great job guys!
