It is a long story to tell you all the details. I will try to be short. First, a few months ago we hired Certa Pro to paint the interior. They did a very good job so we decided to use them again for the exterior, but it was a different crew this time. First day, they didn’t show up for a scheduled appointment. No calls, no messages. I waited couple of hours, had to go to work and as a result I was late. They only started the next day. I was told by the salesman that they were supposed to get the job done within 3 – 5 days. Basically, they started on December 10 and I thought it is going to be a nice gift to my family for Christmas. While they were working, everything looked OK, you know you see your house changing color, looking good. They put a sign in front of the house«Certa Pro Painters and an 800 phone number» so the neighbors could see who was doing the job. Nice, I had no problem with that. Except, on December 14 they came to me and said they are done. We looked around the house to final results. Although, it was getting dark, we found a couple of spots where they needed to do a touch up. They said they would come tomorrow first thing in the morning and finish it. I signed all the paper work and gave them a check… Oops!!! That was a major mistake… They didn’t show up next day. They only came the following day and did some touch ups for an hour, said we will be back at 3 pm. But they didn’t show up. no calls, no messages. But the most important part we found was that the work they had done was unfinished. We discovered that 60%(!) of the house needed to be repainted. The reason we didn’t see it in the first place was because looking in the bright sun makes it hard to see any flaws but after 5pm you can see the issues perfectly. You can see the old paint coming through which was a little darker than the one we used for painting. I don’t want to spent too much time describing my anger and un-satisfaction with this job. I am not the guy who likes to complain. It is more important for me to get a job done even if took longer but not this time. This is a total rip off, sorry. Paid the money before the job was done. Spent a lot time texting to the manager, calling him and trying to tell him what needs to be done. Eventually called the national Certa Pro website 800 number and tried to complain. All they did was conference with me and the same manager who failed to manage the job in the first place. The person from the Certa Pro website didn’t even participate in the call. The last time someone showed up to do some touch ups was on January 9th! If you don’t remember, the job started on December 10th. My last complaint was the floor on the patio where you can clearly see one coating and two coatings next to one another. They told me if I give them more money for more paint they would fix it. Really? By the way, to make it all clear, how many coatings are there supposed to be applied? Here is an excerpt from Certa Pro’s contract/offer: Multiple Coating Included: guaranteed smooth and even coverage of Sherwin Williams’ clear prime/sealer«Loxon» and premium Sherwin-Williams«Super Paint». Some areas may require additional coverage of coating to give a uniform overall appearance and this is what we consider«guaranteed coverage». To this day, the job was not fully done. The patio’s floor needs to be repainted. I have never had an experience like this, especially from a company that advertises on National TV. I want all the potential customers to know what they can expect from Certa Pro so my advice is to look elsewhere. I wish I could get my money back… Oh, and did I mention that they painted brand new solar heater system valves and a cover for the control panel(ever heard of masking tape?), a water hose, a trash can and an outside light! In addition to that, one of the 4 screen doors for glass patio doors that I had before just disappeared(it may not be their fault, but they are who removed the doors and stored them outside and never put them back). They were also using our trash cans to dispose their materials used for painting. To prove my point, I will be attaching some photos for you to see. All the pictures were done after the money was paid and the paperwork was signed. I am pleased that everything been resolved to my satisfaction.
