It’s a good little place with over priced dishes. Me and my husband went for breakfast and ended up with a dinner bill. My husband ordered fresh farm skillet it’s looks good but tastes like other ordinary breakfast places at least other breakfast places are aware of there dishes pricing but Hattie need lot of homework on pricing and portion on plate… I ordered waffles with blueberry compote but in real it a plane waffle with blueberry sauce/jam and again it’s over priced. May be I have to think if I have to go this place or recommend to some one… When you order coffee here it takes ages to come to your place…

Café Liberty will soon replace what once was Hattie’s Beanery. They have kept the Hattie’s name for the time being, however, this new restaurant is nothing like Hattie’s. If you go with that in your mind you may be less disappointed then I was. The new menu only features one of Hattie’s many delicious breakfast items.(Goodbye oh so delicious Tipico Tico and Ed’s Novella!) The pastries don’t taste like they were made in house, they taste pre ordered. If I was going into this restaurant as a completely new patron I may have felt differently but so much of me hoped they would retain all the great parts of Hattie’s that kept me coming back and that just was not the case. My boyfriend ordered their Breakfast Burrito which he enjoyed thoroughly and I had the Farm Fresh Skillet. Both were good dishes. Our waitress was very sweet and it seemed they were genuinely trying to retain Hattie’s customers but I think their largest misstep was ditching the menu that made Hattie’s patrons loyal.

Unfortunately the soft opening for the«new Hattie’s» was a poor one that will be tough to rebound from. It’s your typical story of a great family run business that cares to probably people that haven’t run a restaurant before. Here are the new things that Hattie’s former guests will understand. Whole new staff that seemed disinterested to help, let alone care. There is no more coffee self serve, no more cold brew just rusted hot coffee leftovers, no more fresh squeezed OJ and the sin of all sins as the muffins are premade Starbucks brand. Ouch! So much for freshly baked. Very disappointed and hope the new owners make adjustments as the former Hattie’s crowd like me just will have to pass on this place.

My first comment is that this isn’t the old Hattie’s. And that’s ok. The old Hattie’s was a wonderful place and a staple in the area. That will never be duplicated and I for one am glad that they didn’t even try. The new owners are very personable and come out to the tables(from the kitchen where they are working) to connect with the customers. The food is great and will only get better. The atmosphere is exactly what we needed in Lutz and the coffee is delicious. Nice job guys!

I am giving this place 4 stars because the quality of food is good. Now my palate does NOT appreciate all this healthy stuff like sprouts and kale but I won’t penalize the rating because it’s in direct conflict with seeking tastier foods. I had the nest egg sandwich for breakfast and it was very good and provided a change of pace for breakfast. I especially liked the all Natural sausage patty as it didn’t resemble Something pressed or frozen. I also had a strawberry and cream cheese pastry that was very good too. They even warm it up for you. Now my beautiful wife had the veggie quiche and I was forced into trying a bite. I instinctively pinched my nose, took the bite followed quickly by a pull on the straw of my sweet tea. Whew thank god that’s over. Lol. It looked well put together and a generous portion but I’ll save that item for the animal lovers and tree Huggers in flip flops and hemp Clothing. My only legitimate gripe would be what you would normally find is higher pricing for healthy. For example a 20 ounce sweet tea costs $ 2.45. Really? I can get a HUGE sweet tea ant McDonald’s for .99. Is there a difference in sweet teas? Do you think you could get a few more veggie converts if the prices were more in line with bad foods? Just a thought.

The staff was nice, upbeat, and helpful. The food was exceptional. I ate the Hattie’s ‘Go Big or Go Home’ Breakfast Burrito. It was an explosion of taste and flavor. I will definitely come here again. They have a good thing going!

Went on a Sunday. Line was about 10 people deep. About a 15 – 20 minute wait to order and another 30 minute wait to receive our food. Food was really good, once we received it. Don’t expect this to be a speedy place for breakfast. If you’re looking to get out quick, order a ready made pastry, as hot food will take FOREVER! Restaurant seemed very clean. Food prep and cooking area is open to view from the dining room. Some outside seating, seems dog friendly. A couple with dogs were taking advantage of the slightly cool FL morning.

I have tried several times to eat here and it is always busy with a line to the door no available seating.

Really good food — incredibly SLOW service. Line was always out the door — which I thought was a good sign. But it was more so because you have to wait in line 20+ minutes to order. Then another 10 or so to receive the food. If this place could run more efficient — I’d come every weekend.

I’ve now been here four times(my first review was after the first visit) and this is absolutely five stars. The country Benedict, particularly the homemade corned beef hash and crème fraîche, is incredible. Since then I’ve also had the breakfast burrito and the Rosti Pollo. Really superb food, every bit of everything I’ve had there is fresh and attention to detail is obvious. Just some tips if you’ve never been — no, your food will not be ready in 5 minutes — everything is made to order. Call ahead of you have a time constraint. The service is curt but not rude(they’re always busy with limited hours), and if you’re looking for relaxed table service you’ll have to go elsewhere. I can’t say enough good things about their food — plain and simple, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Consistently excellent and an absolute jewel of Tampa Bay!

Well I’ve been here a few times and still not impressed with anything from service to the food. Missing items of my order along with wrong items being add to my check. Bath room was been without towels and hot water the times I used it. Cappuccino is terrible. Will not be back.

Some of the best brunch food I’ve had in quite some time. This location used to be a really delicious burger joint called Jake’s, and now it seems another company that serves great food has filled that void. I had the Ed’s Novella Bagel(specifically on an everything bagel) which consisted of nova lox, cream cheese, capers and fresh tomato. Super tasty. Also tried out Hattie’s Sweet ‘n’ Savory, which is essentially what McDonald’s was aiming for with the mcgriddle. This breakfast sandwich is a sausage patty in between a cinnamon bun, which is prepared on the grill. You can’t go wrong. Café con leche and Cuban toast were on my table as well. The toast came with a super tasty guava jam. My only complaint is that I wish there were more of it. This place is delicious, and I will return to try out their lunch menu.

I appreciate that they have vegetarian sandwiches, but they really lacked flavor. Well, that’s my opinion. One sandwich was actually the Hattie sandwich which I was really expecting to be great… But it fell a little short for me. I don’t even remember the other sandwich name. The place has good reviews so maybe it’s just the non-meat eaters who have a hard time finding something here. There were pastries and stuff they we didn’t try too. Oh… And for my personal taste… It isn’t a place I would sit and enjoy my coffee while getting work done. It wasn’t very cozy, more like a fancier Subway or something.

Hattie’s is a great little café tucked into a strip mall off Dale Mabry in Lutz. They seem truly dedicated to only using organic, sustainable, and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible; and the fruit of these principles is very evident in their food. You can tell that they pay a lot of attention to their ingredients, so I gotta give them props because they put out some outstanding food and coffee and don’t cut corners. I love places that make real food that is healthy and delicious and that’s Hattie’s to a tee. I’m not a big coffee drinker, but all the coffee I had here was smooth, flavorful, and not bitter at all(I prefer my coffee black). So far I’ve only had breakfast food here and I’ve been extremely satisfied. The«go big or go home» breakfast burrito is the biggest I’ve ever had and very well balanced with eggs, rice, black beans, pico de gallo, sour crème, and guacamole. Definitely a very filling breakfast. The Land and Sea Benedict was amazing. The croissant alone is one of the best I’ve ever had and with eggs, bacon, tomato, capers, salmon and goat cheese… I mean how can you beat that? My brother really liked the Nest Egg sandwich with sausage. They mean nest egg literally, there is a little hole in the rye bread where the egg rest as it’s grilled onto the rye, sounds good to me! Hattie’s always seems to be pretty busy and they are a small restaurant. If you looking for a quick bite to eat dining in might not be your best bet, but if you call ahead your good for quick take out. If your looking for a laid back casual breakfast or lunch look no further, just keep in mind they have very limited seating available. I think it’s safe to say Hattie’s is now one of my goto restaurants whenever I’m in the Tampa area and I highly recommend it.

This is the best damn thing to happen to Lutz. Service is beyond amazing. They make you feel like a neighbor. I always used to go for breakfast. Try everything once if you can. They work around your dietary restrictions, and I know this as a vegetarian. I don’t work nearby anymore, but I’m sure as hell going to make my way through once or twice a month.

Ok this one is difficult for me… we all KNOW I love owner operators and I am very generous with my stars… usually. The food here… once u actually get it is 4STARS! BUT, the process of getting it is 0STARS… hence average is 2 stars. Like my math? I never said I was a math major folks! Basically, it takes 1 to 3 minutes to decide what u want to order cuz the menu isn’t a bible like cheesecake factory or somewhere. Then it takes like 15 minutes for 2 orders, and 30 minutes for 4 orders, just to get it into the register correctly. By the time they repeat the order back to you, with mistakes of course, so add 5 minutes more for every correction, and then they whack u over the head with cost… approx. $ 22 to $ 26 for 2 coffees n 2 bagel breakfasts and $ 44 — $ 55 for 4 people the same type breakfast order… you don’t know if that dizzy, fainting feeling you are experiencing is due to lack of blood sugar, or sheer shock and nervous system reaction to the astronomical breakfast you are having that is not laced with pure gold on top!!! They need a better system, point blank, for EVERYBODY’S SANITY, and then their prices wouldn’t be such an issue. Or at least not as painful and gut wrenching. To end this on a sweet note with the positives because there are some, and I hate to just be the bearer of bad news and complain is: LOVE the free coffee refills with several strengths and boldness to choose from. The owner and the beautiful red head girl who works there are both super friendly and sweet. The food does taste great if it gets to you at the right temperature. I do LOVE their land and sea croissant breakfast sandwich… for a million dollars! Lol ! Just kidding… but u get the point here… not sure if it all really tastes delicious or you went thru hell and back to get it .so that a cardboard box with cream cheese on it may be the best breakfast you ever had if it took 45 starving minutes to finally be able to bite into it… u feel me??? Why don’t you Unilocalers try it and let me know if I was way off here… I hate when things feel like they only happen to me!!!

This family run eatery is such a gem! The Hattie’s Benedict is my favorite: scrambled egg, ham, kale over a biscuit with a light covering of a dill infused sauce. Pure heaven. Don’t miss out on the coffee which is custom roasted on site! No joke, I watched! The fresh squeezed OJ is straight off the tree and satisfies even the most finicky native Floridian. I love this place and recommend it to anyone who loves fresh, flavorful food in a friendly, casual atmosphere.

Hattie’s is located in Lutz at corner of N Dale Mabry and Van Dyke in shopping center with home goods and LA fitness. They have several outdoor seats as well as indoor. Clean and inviting, they serve breakfast and lunch. The food is fresh and they offer daily specials and they even roast many of the coffees. They also make fruit smoothies. I ordered the gluten free quiche from the daily special board which was salmon with mushrooms and cheese. Wasn’t sure about mixing salmon with cheese but it worked. I also enjoyed an iced coffee with soy and a splash of sugar free vanilla. Perusing the menu, I saw lots of creative eggs for breakfast, which is served all day, soups, Sammie’s and salads for lunch and pastries and desserts that looked inviting. The food is local and mostly made from scratch, free of chemicals, pesticides(organic) and I am a huge fan!

We love Hattie’s and usually get it to go. My favorite is Ed’s Novella breakfast sandwich, an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese, tomato and red onions. Seriously, I dream of this sandwich. Our family also loves the nest sandwich. Service is friendly. The owner/manager is usually there and truly cares about the food they serve. Great spot in north tampa/lutz.
