The sushi here is OK nothing special. I would go here in high school and for whatever reason I would feel sick after getting sushi from here. When I have eaten here, I saw that there was dust on top of the refrigerated sushi case, which is a sanitary issue, I don’t go here for sushi because I always feel disappointed most of times.

Horrible food. Definitely not cooked right. Got horribly sick and had food poisoning. Ended up in the hospital for more than a week. Thought the food tasted weird so I stopped eating it. 4 am in the morning the next day I was vomitting uncontrollably and my fiancé called and ambulance. I lost an excessive amount of fluids and blood as well from my throat being torn from throwing up profusely. DONOTGOHERE!!!

The food is quite good. It is primarily takeout but my kids love to sit at the sushi bar.

They messed up my order and I found hair in my food. The food is not that bad but I’m guessing just by looking in the kitchen they are not very clean. Gross…

Very small and quaint hidden gem I ordered the salmon bento box… and it was huge. Larger than the average bento boxes. Very tasty and the salmon was super fresh, lots of flavor. The deep fried soft shell crabs were so yummy, I got two orders As for the sushi, it’s fresh and yummy… prepared right in front of you. Staff very friendly., the place was too small to sit comfortably and it so I opted to take out. But it’s a must try… can’t wait to try more

Review based on delivery experience only! I attempted to order lunch from my usual sushi spot, but to my dismay, a voice recording picked up saying they are closed on Mondays. THISCANNOTBE. I hung up, frantically searching for another place to fulfill the craving. I checked my handy dandy Unilocal app to find another local sushi spot and next came Kenji. I’d never ordered from them before, so I placed the order and within 10 – 15 minutes, the friendly delivery man was at my door. It MUST be said that the Volcano Roll rocked my socks off. Everything we ordered was phenomenal… except the bill. $ 50 worth of food we could have easily gotten for half the price at EDO. Although the prices will deter me from making this my regular sushi spot, it’s good to know that there is fresh, delicious backup sushi close to home that I can order from for Monday cravings.

The ONlY downside to this hidden gem is there are out 2 tables and 4 seats at the counter. The food is outstanding. The sushi is always fresh and tasteful. The service is great. I take out lunch from there every week and have NEVER been disappointed. Their tempura chicken roll or tempura shrimp rolls are great. Their best roll IMO is the Orange roll. Must try. Trust me. In have never eaten their Chinese dishes but have been told by those that have that they are equally as great as their sushi. Don’t listen to any bad reviews. This place is the best for great tasting sushi in the area or in Nassau for that matter.

I am a sushi snob, and when this place first opened I enjoyed it, they had these crazy tuna and salmon rolls that were delicious, and all others were great. That was then, this is now. I stopped in alone last night on the way to a friends house. I remember it being good. I got seaweed salad(nothing to review there you can get this stuff at BJ’s) a spicy salmon roll and that crazy tuna roll which has spicy tuna inside, covered in seared pepper tuna, covered in spicy mayo and scallion. As I was sitting waiting, I noticed the guy used SO much rice I actually chuckled to myself, so I asked for less rice, but it was too late. I could not believe how much rice, it reminded me of the Supermarket sushi rolls and I did not like the rice flavor, it just didn’t have that hint of goodness. The taste was flat too, all that hype for that peppered tuna roll and I was topping it with the seaweed salad to give it some flavor. I was disappointed, and I won’t be back. If you do decide to stop in, its very small so not a dine-in place. They have two tables or so and four sushi bar seats. Also, they serve Chinese and Japanese to which I have never actually found any place that does both effectively so that should have been the Red Flag.

This is a really good sushi spot. The resturant is a bit on the smaller side, so I’ve never eaten in, I’ve always ordered take out. Their rolls are creative and most importantly, they taste great. Kenji sushi is where i go to reward myself after a hectic week. So glad I live so close to the resturant, it really is a gem.

By far it’s my favorite sushi spot. Yes, we all know how tiny it is… but take it home! Even their Chinese food is good. I am pleased with everything I try… I recommend the Spicy Crunchy Yellowtail.

For a Fast Food Sushi Place, this place is awesome! Everything is always fresh and delicious. Reasonable prices too and looks to be pretty clean inside.

Just tried it for the first time last night. My wife and I ordered a bunch of rolls and the negamaki box. I was just recently informed that the Tofu staff opened this place. Having been a fan of Tofu, I was a little disappointed in Kenji, not so much in the quality of the food, but rather the price. You’re paying«dine in» prices for«take out». Food was very similar to Tofu… so I’d rate that high. For value though… in my opinion, it deserves a lower rating. If you live in the area it’s worth a try, but I wouldn’t want to travel too far for take out sushi.

Kenji a pocket sized Chinese/Japanese combo restaurant located right on sunrise highway. The chances of you getting a table on the inside are slim to none, especially if school is in session. Surprisingly, all the high school kids in the area flock to this place like flies to piece of meat left in the sun. Once you get past the angry gate keeper lady who runs the show here(on the phone or in person), you’re golden. Don’t worry, she’ll warm up to you after you visit a few times and spend your Jacksons(that’s a $ 20 bill, for those who haven’t looked in their wallets lately) inside. One word comes to mind when describing Kenji’s sushi. Solid, yup solid. Not physically of course(that could be disastrous) but their execution is fantastic. I suspect they have a pretty fair turnover doing the week so the fish is always fresh. I’ve eaten here plenty of times and not once have I had a completely foul piece or fish or smelt anything funky. I enjoy all the standards at Kenji. Not surprisingly, my favorite rolls are the simple ones off the lunch menu: crunchy spicy tuna, eel avocado, crunchy spicy yellowtail, AAC roll and the philly. As for the non-sushi specific dishes, the salmon teriyaki was up to par while the gen tso’s chicken was weak and contained poor quality, fatty meat. I was told such a thing was a fluke but I’ll likely just stick to the fish next time. Kenji also offers 14+ options on their menu that are solely vegi and/or tofu. I’ve yet to try anything from that specific section but I do appreciate having the option available when I get tired of eating chicken constantly. Service is a little cheap. extra eel sauce and other such things will have you opening your wallet back up and possibly getting the stink eye. On a positive note, your orders are often put together promptly and correctly and the fish is fresh. For a quick takeout place, Kenji is spot on.

I visited Kenji the first week he opened and i was not disappointed. The sushi i had was clean, fresh, and very very tasty. Kenji is a great sushi chef and told me a little about his past, working at a hotel kitchen, and the process of making sushi. He made me feel right at home in his small establishment. One day i decided to try one of his special rolls. Sure Kenji can can make you your California rolls, Alaska rolls, and Boston rolls, but what really differentiates sushi places are their special rolls. I had then, and what is to this day my favorite sushi roll, his Freedom Roll. This delight is crab salad and banana tempura inside an inside out roll with shrimp and avocado on top. What an absolute pleasure to eat this little piece of heaven. If you go treat yourself to the Freedom Roll. Since his opening i was sad as every time i returned it seemed like the sushi slowly deteriorated in quality. I did not return for about a year. I’m reviewing kenji now though since i went back just two days ago. I am happy to report that the quality has returned to Kenji Sushi and that i plan on returning again very soon. It should be noted that the place is extremely small. You’ll find 3 to 4 chairs at the sushi bar, 2 tables for 2, and zero bathrooms. They can afford to keep their prices low, by comparison, because of their small size. Enjoy =)

Best sushi in the area. Their house roll is the best rice-less sushi around wrapped in soy paper rather than the usual cucumber. It is down right Delicious. Their food is always fresh and high quality. While I have not had any, they also sell chinese food.

love love Love!!! take out only though because of how small this place is. Very clean and considerate of cross contamination — I have a shellfish allergy and I have never had a problem. Try all the rolls — between my fiancé and myself we haven’t had a bad one yet!

This place is really tasty! The food is quality and the service is generally pretty good. Its a quiet little place, with seating for maybe 5 – 6 at the bar and two additional tables. Not very big but i really enjoy the food. They have a website with menu.

My family loved going to Tofu when it was open… Kenji is pretty much the same in regard to food and preparation, except you can’t eat it there. Sashimi and sushi are so fresh, chinese food is very tasty, and reasonable prices! I’m a fan!
