I don’t have a review«per se», just that I have memories of my early years at 12 Charles Street in Lynbrook, NY… the cemetery was my backyard. Back then(40+ years ago), there wasn’t a fence separating our property from the cemetery and I played among the headstones when I was 3 or 4 years old… I think my «playground» has given me a respect for the dead and their history… a cemetery is a place I always end up when I’m seeking solace, peace and a sense of history.

Nice enough, small cemetery with nicely kept grounds. In certain sections they don’t allow large grave stones, only markers that don’t come cheap. Unfortunately, this cemetery no longer has plots for sale. My grandparents are buried here and I wanted to see if there was room for other relatives who are still with us. They say that a few times per year, there are graves available from people who have them and want to sell them back to the cemetery but it’s on a first come first served basis and they can’t be held. Just thought that was something that folks would want to know for their future planning purposes.

I haven’t been to this cemetery in over 20 years, but by the looks of the pictures, it hasn’t changed. I remember driving over from the city and it felt like it took forever to get there. After scrounging around to find out where my mother-in-law, Janie Dalton( ;) was buried, we finally found the spot. Unfortunately there wasn’t a marker, just a little number on the ground. I asked my husband why his mother didn’t have a headstone and he said that the family didn’t have the money for one. So I told my mom who was outraged. We tried to get a headstone, only to find out that they only allow«brass» markers and at the time the $ 750 seemed like too much for our budget. Years later I had the money, but the price jumped up to $ 1200 and I needed to have the information about his dad, who is also buried in the same plot. The problem, nobody has the information on dad, and doesn’t seem motived it get it. I know it seems kinda funny, because it’s been 2 decades since I’ve been there, but I feel like everyone should have a place that their relatives can come and visit and remember. Maybe when technology gets better, I’ll find the info on dad.
