Had a half rack of ribs. The meat was fairly well cooked but parts of the ribs were slightly fatty and the end were overcooked and tough which made those parts inedible. The biggest problem was how salty the ribs were which drew away from the taste of the salt but the sauce was good.

I moved to lynchburg over two years ago. And I love bbq. Anywhere i go in the US or overseas i always gravitate to anything bbq. I cook and have tried recipes from different chefs. So when i found out that Dickey’s has ribs and brisket, i was excited. Went there for lunch today and ordered a pound of brisket and half rack of ribs with beans and coleslaw plus two small drinks. Bill was $ 37.96. Ouch! The beans and coleslaw could easily cost about $ 10 a pound based on the meager portion they gave me. I ordered sliced brisket and got about 6 ounces of chopped brisket. The cashier said it was the fat. The brisket on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is flat out dry and 10 is juicy would be a 3. It became a 1 an hour later(i have some leftovers). The ribs still have the membrane which i hate. Dryness scale is 1.5! It looks old food. The best part was the beans and the sauce. That’s it. NOTCOMINGBACK!

First time in the restaurant around 6pm on Friday. It was starting to get busy. We had two one meat(turkey) with two sides and roll and one three bones rib with two sides. The good: Turkey, ribs, BBQ beans, rolls and drinks. The bad: mac and cheese tasted like it came premade in a bag, baked potato casserole was inedible, the ribs had very little meat on them and waffle fries were a soft salty mess. The ugly: that soft serve«ice cream» is a bunch of chemicals mixed with water or something not even close to being ice cream. The three workers were efficient but not overly courteous. Not rude but not welcoming. The place looked clean and restrooms were clean. We are in the area for weekend and not likely to return to this establishment. It was a bit pricey for what we got. The ribs bones were the widest bones I have ever seen on a rib.

Awesome brisket ‘and sides with great service. A missed secret due to its location. Try the beans, potato casserole and cole slaw. The perfect place for a quick full meal!

Chain BBQ that is pretty good. We go here often because of the experience and the price. You can catch weekly deals like kids eat free or one of their daily deals for $ 8.99. The barbecue sauce is really good for a chain, but if you are a hard-core barbecue fan, you might be let down by the experience. The meat is hickory smoked and flavorful, I really enjoy it.

I’ve been here several times, have never had a bad experience. All the BBQ snobs will whine incessantly that their hometown BBQ is «real» bbq, and the cow they butchered for the meat wasn’t hand fed cornmeal from a man wearing a 3 piece armani suit. But the food tastes great, and it is convenient. I’m kind of a joke in the place, since I order a tray of meat. Like any reasonable man should. They allow me to order my meat by the ounce. My only gripe is the price, it is relatively expensive for what you get.

Under new management, the quality of service has declined greatly. We used to love taking the family here, but we finally gave up and decided to stop going. — The prices have risen, and the portions have decreased. It simply is not economically viable to take the family there — The service is dreadfully slow and the food is cold by the time that we finally get it — The ice cream is not as good, and is usually soggy — The staff is now indifferent and treats us like we are a bother. It really is a shame, I used to love to go to Dickie’s.

Dickies is worth the line on Sundays when I’m passing by Lynchburg on my way back to Richmond. The brisket is amazing and I can’t pass up the potato salad and mac and cheese on the side. Now that I’m talking about it, I wish I could have some today!

I stopped in with a coworker while in the area on business. The format is convenient: wait in line, order meats, choose sides, pay and find a seat. They were a little slow when I arrived and the line didn’t seem to move at all but it picked up eventually. The serving size is reasonable and the quality is good. It’s not great BBQ but it’s decent; especially for fast food. The prices are reasonable and the free soft serve ice cream(while the cleanliness of the machine scared me a bit) was a nice perk. So Dickey’s is a good option for a quick bite but not something to go out of your way for.

This is NOT pit BBQ to any degree. It doesn’t even have the slightest hint of smoke in the resturant or in the meat. No smoke rings at all, it tastes like baked meat. Here in the south we call chains like this«Phở-Q». The ratings for Dickies by barbecue enthusiats are pretty much the same everywhere they are located no matter how good or bad the service is: Folks, if you want real pit-smoke BBQ Lynchburg, then try B.A.M.S. off Bedford Ave or True Q BBQ off Englewood St. Thats the real deal.

Stopped in here while traveling through. They had a beef brisket special that was huge and delicious. Some of the sides offered looked less than desirable but the cole slaw and onion tangles were good. Very friendly staff. Great deal for a tasty meal.

Damn good BBQ Found this on accident and decided to eat. I am from Texas so I critique BBQ really hard, but I have to say this was pretty darn good. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was pretty good. Place was pretty nice, clean, service was a bit slow tho, the waiter took a long time to come to our table and then never came back until it was time for the check, aside from that I would go back for another pulled pork sandwich.

Great food! The bbq is undeniable and the veggies are fresh and tasty. A little on the pricey side for a fast food joint but still tastes great.

After driving for a few hours north out of NC, we were getting hungry as we approached Lynchburg. We spotted Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and pulled in for dinner. Dickey’s is a very casual BBQ chain restaurant offering several kinds of meats including BBQ beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs, ham, sausages, smoked turkey and smoked chicken, a good selection of cold and hot sides, and salads. It’s order at the counter and pay first, pick your style(sandwich or meat plate) and choices sides and drink. Family size meals also available. The drinks are self serve Coke fountain drinks and iced tea, as are the BBQ sauces. Your food is brought out to your table quickly. Also, you can grab some soft serve vanilla ice cream in a cone or cup for FREE! My friend ordered the Dickey Plate($ 9.99) with 2 Meats(Ribs & Polish Sausage), 2 Sides(Caesar Salad & Cole Slaw), and corn bread and I ordered the Dickey Plate($ 10.99) with 3 Meats(Spicy Hot Links, BBQ Brisket, Southern Pulled Pork), 2 Sides(Dill Cream Potato Salad & Mac & Cheese) and corn bread, along with 2 Big Yellow Cups($ 1.99 each). The portions of food were good for the price. The food was pretty alright, nothing really spectacular. The meats were a bit lukewarm, but very tender with minimal fat. The hot & sweet BBQ sauces were good. The mac & cheese(shells & cheese) was similar to having Velveeta & shells. The minced cole slaw was crunchy and not too creamy. We were full, but still saved room for some free vanilla soft serve ice cream. At first, the soft serve machine wasn’t dispensing anything. I informed a staff member who quickly adjusted the machine(not out of mix) and was all good! The ice cream was not the dense kind soft serve found at DQ, but light, cool and refreshing nonetheless.
