We ordered take out from King’s on Valentines day and were very disappointed with the food. Half the food was flavorless and the other half were just average. The rice was especially disappointing because we are used to either receiving fried rice with veggies or white write with Chinese take out but this was a hybrid between the two with only egg and no veggies. Also, even though we ordered take out, we had to ask for cutlery for our food, it was not even offered.

Found this place online and decided to order some take-out. First thing that pops up when you find them on google is the menu, pictures of the food, etc. The menu has prices and details of everything you are ordering so it looks legit. I figured out what I wanted and called in my order. When I got to the restaurant to pick it up, lady at the front desk asked me what my name was for my order and I told her. She turned around and looked at one to-go bag then walked away and left me standing there while she started helping another customer. I waited there about 5 minutes and when she came back I asked if my order was ready to go again. She asked me my name again and this time found my order sitting right there the whole time. When she rang me up I noticed something didn’t seem right about the total… everything on the menu was about $ 3 more expensive then what was advertised online. When I asked about this cause my bill was more than I expected it to be, they told me that they had just switched their menu over at the first of the year and the prices are different now. Ok, I can understand that, not a problem. I get that businesses are slow on updating their websites sometimes… it happens. What I DONOT like is that instead of kindly explaining this to me and then letting me pay for my food, the manager immediately began to get upset and accused me of looking at the wrong website… Whoa there. This is 2016. Everyone and their mom uses a smart phone to do just about everything. Not my fault that your google business profile is not updated, and I wasn’t even upset about it until you started raising your voice at me over it. Needless to say, won’t be going back there. Food was subpar. Bland and not anything to rave about. Ordered the sesame chicken and there was barely any sesames on it. See/eat for yourself.

Oh boy! This is the best Chinese food I have had in a very, very long time. Their lunch buffet is unbeatable.

Has been on the downswing for a while, in particular regarding customer service… The recurring insult is that they frequently revert to a «cash only» policy for delivery. We have patronized this restaurant(eat in, take out, and delivery) for over 15 years. Eat a lot of sushi, so the average delivery order is $ 60+. Maybe I’m an outlier, but I seldom use or carry cash… Even Dominoes Pizza accepts a check… And they accept that radical new form of 21st century commerce — the credit card! Get with it, KI — your policies are costing you(and your less-than-minimum wage delivery persons) serious yuan!

Best Asian food in Lynchburg! The food is great. They have everything Chinese or Japanese you could want to order. The sushi is always fresh and the dishes are always hot and well seasoned. The staff is polite and efficient. This is one of my all-time favorite places and they deliver to nearby areas. I order from them at least every couple of weeks and I love actually going there for a sit-down meal. They are always on point!

I have been eating at this restaurant for longer than I like to admit and I keep coming back because this is how all Chinese food should taste. I have not found a better egg roll than the ones served at King’s Island. The Kung Pao Chicken is my go to dish. The service is always wonderful and the delivery is fast and easy.

Best Chinese I have had yet in Lynchburg. The service is great and the food is delicious. The waiters are attentive to your needs, such as needing more water or napkins. I got my food within 15 mins. The beef and broccoli was so tender and perfectly cooked. I will return here!

I stopped into King’s Island for some dinner on a Monday night. My heart was set on Asian food, but my favorite Asian place in Lynchburg(Oishii) is closed on Mondays, so I decided to go give this place a try. I ordered some dumplings and the broiled eel. The dumplings were wonderful, but I was not impressed with the eel, particularly not for $ 15. The dish just didn’t seem to mesh well. Whatever little pieces of yellow fruit were in the dish did not work with the sauce, which in itself was mediocre. The eel on its own wasn’t bad though, but I think I’ll stick to eel sushi if I find myself wanting eel from King’s Island in the future. My server was great and very friendly. If you’re looking for a nicer Asian place to eat in Lynchburg, most of the items on the menu here are cheaper than what I ordered, and I would hope they taste better as well. From my experience with that one dish(which I haven’t had many other places, so it’s hard to compare overall), I would probably just stick with Jade Palace in Lynchburg.

Would have given more stars than two but had a pretty weird experience. Ordered several appetizers, soups, sushi rolls and entrees. One sushi roll was left off. Pointed it out to the server and the server went back to the sushi chef who in turn argued that the missing roll was actually on the plate. We’ve been regulars here for years. Consistently have bills over $ 100 and then this? The customers always right unless they’re eating at Kings Island. I recommend checking every app, soup, roll and entrée on the spot or else you’ll be paying for food that you didn’t get.

Best in the 500 Mile radius. Trust me, been all over the US. The Sesame Chicken is huge.

I’m a fan of this place, best Chinese place in the area I would say. Sizzing plates are pretty cool. I normally get the Huane Chicken with fired rice. Great for a night of take out!

This is(IMHO) the best sushi place in Lynchburg. Which isn’t to say that it’s amazing sushi, but it’s pretty good. However, the green curry is great — and the delivery radius is, too. Worth a try.

I grew up in Lynchburg eating Chinese food, first at Empire Garden, then at Kings Island when they merged. I’m a foodie who loves Asian cuisine and have eaten it all over the U.S. I have never found better, nor any equivalent to the food at Kings Island. It set the standard for my taste in Chinese food and has remained unmatched. What you must have here are as follows… 1. Egg Drop Soup with the house hot mustard. It’s made with wasabi and is sinus-blasting delicious. 2. Kang Pao Chicken or Shrimp. Packed with chilis peanuts and a rich dark sauce. My all time fave. 3. Rainbow Chicken or Beef. They should get an award for how they julienne the veggies. The sauce is sweet, tangy, and habit-forming. 4. Mongolian Chicken or Beef. A rich delicious classic. If you start there your world will be rocked. I could seriously list the whole menu.

We went for dinner 1 hour before they closed, but we were welcoming and sat quickly. Our server was prompt and very polite. My water glass was never empty. Sushi was great! Loved the PBR roll as well as the hand stuffed steamed dumplings. Will be back soon!

I only ate here because I was meeting a friend. The buffet is not open during dinner hours it seems. That’s okay with me because I absolutely detest buffet style restaurants. I had high hopes for this place because of the cloth napkins and nice glasses. When the little details of presentation are fulfilled you expect great things from the food. However, that was not the case. My meal was bland and the simple sesame chicken my boyfriend ordered tasted awful. I had more water, trying to get rid of the taste, than any of the food on my actual plate. Get the Egg Drop soup. It was the only good part about my experience here.

These run of the mill Asian restaurants in SW Virginia really perplex me. Are you trying to be Japanese, Korean, Chinese… sometimes a little Vietnamese? An Asian restaurant needs to choose a type of cuisine and perfect it as opposed to shelling out whatever food they can make to get people in the restaurant. I would love to see the place shorten the menu, but really get those dishes right(speaking as an Asian). And while it is probably considered more of a Japanese/Sushi spot, King’s Island’s décor screams more«super-stereotypical» Chinese restaurant, but maybe that’s what the owners expected the clientele to believe anyway. Well — life goes on and the search for decent Asian food in SW Virginia continues.

My husband and I were spending a week at The Acorn Hill Lodge in Lynchburg and we were looking for a place to eat. Someone at the lodge recommended King’s Island Restaurant which was a short drive away. We went for supper and we enjoyed it. The food was delicious. It was so good that we went back to try their buffet lunch before we left. I am not a big fan of Chinese buffets. I’ve been to so many where the food was fair to awful. This was different. Everything tasted fresh There were several different choices and each one was delicious. Fresh food was brought out every few minutes. There is also a regular lunch menu if you don’t want the buffet. Our server took away our dirty dishes and kept checking to see if we needed anything. The prices were very reasonable. The lunch buffet is served every day accept Saturdays. I
