The hibachi the was okay. But the selection was minimal and the whole place felt run down and had seen better days. There are better Japanese options out there.

Great, upper scale hibachi place in Lynchburg. The food is always fresh, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is cozy. This is definitely not meant to be a traditional Japanese Steakhouse. The hibachi grill is in the dining area where you can see them cooking, and sit at the bar if you like, but it is not a place for a show. The prices are very good(better at lunch) and the dining room is definitely the nicest of all the hibachi places in town. I would say that this is definitely the best hibachi restaurant in Lynchburg, and there are quite a few of those here. The dinner entrees run about $ 11 per person and that includes soup and a salad. Lunch does not include soup and salad and is around $ 8 a person, obviously depending on what you order. The filet with fried rice is my favorite and always cooked perfectly for me. This is a great place for a pretty inexpensive evening out. I wouldn’t go there for an anniversary or anything like that… but good for a budget date night and great for lunch.

Sakura is a Japanese steak house — but Benihana it ain’t. The décor is minimal and the ambiance is nonexistent. The staff is friendly and fast, but that could have been related to the fact that there were four people in the place. The food is unremarkable. Nothing really bad, nothing really good. The plates were a little on the small side. No presentation — no flair. Just a plate with some flash cooked veggies, rice, and meat. Everything was reasonably fresh. They do have some cool drink selections on the menu — like a Bong Water. Prices are reasonable. Would I go back? Probably not. I’d rather take my chances on another dining experience and get some thrills from the unknown before going back to Sakura.
