The Boiler Room is an often forgotten gem of a restaurant in Downtown Lynchburg. When told at another downtown establishment that it will be a 40 minute wait, it was great to walk into The Boliler Room and be seated immediately as well as receive prompt and courteous service. Our dinner was excellent. We both had perfectly grilled salmon and the sides were cooked just right. The chef came out as well to see how we enjoyed the meal. As a bonus, the atmosphere is an understated elegance and very suitable for great conversation. Next time you are in Downtown, be sure to have dinner at The Boiler Room!

This is the coolest most underrated place in Lynchburg. The vibe is sort of a speakeasy, but very quiet. The food is great and it is a great place to come and just hang out. I really want everyone to come out and support this place. I think if it was packed it would be the most awesome place in town!!!

To start off, I really wanted to like this place. The entrance is nice. It’s nicely decorated and has a funky feel. We sat at a booth and at first, it seemed like only one person was working, the waiter. Either he was unfamiliar with the menu or the POS system he was using set him up for failure, because he had to ask us what type of cheese went on the burgers we ordered. And then, we waited. So while we waited, we saw what was going on around us. Here’s what we noticed, if you’re a group larger than 5, don’t bother going here. They can’t/won’t accommodate you. The night we were there, there was no maitre d. The waiter was greeting everyone. The first group of six to arrive waited at the front for awhile and ended up leaving. Another group of six arrived twenty minutes later and a group of five shortly after them. The group of five was quickly seated at a booth by adding on a chair. The waiter seemed fine with trying accommodate the group of six by pulling up a table to a booth but the manager seemed unhappy and argued. The group of six got up and left. As for the food, the Caesar salad was wilted. It wasn’t freshly made, surprising since it took so long to get to us. I had the five and dime burger. The burger itself was pretty good but the corned beef in it was rather dry. I’m sure that my experience would have been better had we sat at the bar. Our backs would have been to the drama.

When you venture to any event downtown safe convenient parking is an issue. This is not true with The Boiler Room. By parking in the garage at 9th street you have safe parking that is merely steps away from the entrance and the lighting is excellent. The appearance of The Boiler Room is striking both inside and out. The brick courtyard is very inviting. Once inside you will find that the décor is perhaps the finest of any restaurant in Lynchburg with a combination of fine art, stain glass panels in the ceiling, a fireplace, and dramatic lighting. The marble tables with the leather seats are simply luxurious. I have eaten several times at four fine and highly rated restaurants on or near Main Street. The flavor of the steaks takes a back seat to no one. The cheese cake is incredible. The service was exceptional and timed perfectly. If you are after a great meal and you like a quiet atmosphere come before 7:00 P.M. Our meals were $ 25 each. You can eat cheaper but not finer. I highly recommend that you give The Boiler Room at try.

Excellent atmosphere, excellent service, and excellent food. Nothing more needs to be said. Update: Some of the reviews mention that the piano is never played. Both times we’ve been the same gentleman was playing(he’s very good). We asked and he is there on Thursdays and Saturdays. So if you’d like to hear him play, that’s the time to go!

The Boiler Room is a great local restaurant in Lynchburg serving excellent food in a unique atmosphere. The steaks here are melt in your mouth with equally delicious sides. Service is also top notch which is not always true for Lynchburg restaurants. The atmosphere is very relaxing and calm, the nigh my fiancé and I were the the pianist added to the intimacy. Overall, dining here provides the feeling you have escaped Lynchburg for a short time. Highly recommended!

It’s been a while since my husband and I went the the Broiler Room. The atmosphere started before you even went in. The outside a beautiful painting and twinkle lights. When you go inside its like you have traveled to a bigger city somewhere far away from Lynchburg. The menu is SUPER limited, which is a good thing. I believe that if you know what you do well stick to those few things. Having pages and pages of choices is not always a good thing. I had the portobello burger, not what I expected and it lacked serious flavor.

I have been to the Boiler Room several times at different times of the week and on Valentines Day when they were busy and I have not been disappointed. Service has always been good and and food has been out in a reasonable time. The food is good quality and priced good for what you are getting. The only reason I did not give it a five star is because I like craft beers and they do not carry a large selection and the staff did not know a lot about the beer they served other than the names.

There’s just something… off about The Boiler Room. I’ve been there a few times now, and every time it just seems to be uncomfortable. I like the atmosphere… for the most part. One night I was in the party room, and it felt barren and dark. Most recently we had a larger party seated right as you enter. I’m not sure what is creepier, the piano that is never playing, or the bone-chilling breeze from the door when it opens. The service: ok. Even the servers don’t seem like they should be there for some reason! They are nice enough, and usually get to you in time, but on some weekends you may never see them more than once or twice. The food: meh. I usually end up with a burger of some sort, and it’s pretty average. Overall, I just can’t recommend the place, even though I love the idea of it. I like the location, even the lounge feel. I guess what I would love to see would be a more welcoming atmosphere.

My wife & I went here for dinner & drinks last Saturday night. We sat down and both couldn’t believe a place so unique and nice was in Lynchburg. Food was excellent, our waiter was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxing but sophisticated. Burgers were off the charts & brûlée cheesecake with a Lagavulin scotch were a perfect ending. Bonus points for smart management by giving servers iPads to take & place orders.

First, let me say how excited my friends and I were to discover this cool location. Our experience was on January 23, 2015. We called ahead to see if reservations were needed, since it was a Friday night and Restaurant Week. We were told just to show up. We arrived at about 8pm, thinking we would hang out at the bar and enjoy some tap beer & mixed drinks in a really nice, relaxed pub atmosphere if there were no open tables. In fact, there were only about 4 occupied tables, and most of those people were already enjoying their meals. The bartender was fantastic, and the drinks we ordered at the bar were great. After 30 minutes at the bar, our party of four(ladies seated, husbands standing) grew tired of watching empty tables. The host came over to the bar and told us we could sit at a booth while we waited if we wished. We ordered more drinks from the bar and had a seat. Although there appeared to be an abundance of employees, no one spoke to us or acknowledged us. After 30MORE minutes, nobody had even brought us menus. Nobody even looked at us. Our husbands went to the bar and brought us another round of drinks. Ten minutes later, the husbands decided it was time to go. On the way out, we stopped at the host station to express our dismay and say why we were leaving. There was no apology, no sense of embarrassment. I am still flabbergasted.

Restaurant week is great here! You get an app, one of their amazing burgers, a side, and a dessert for $ 15. They also have a $ 25 price point for their main entrees. Great atmosphere, good for local businessman travelling and staying at the Holiday Inn.

The Boiler Room is set back off of 8th street making it a real discovery(they do have a small sign on 8th to give you a hint). They have an outdoor seating area with the floor and ceilings painted black to set off the small, white lights draped around. The main dining area is comfortable, setup neither upscale nor kitschy. The bar is my favorite, partly because I normally go solo, partly cuz it’s how you get a feel for the locals and partly because of its masculine décor and the great bartender, John. John is originally from Glasgow and is a very interesting and conversational person as well as a good bartender who will create you a drink if you’re not sure what you want or just feel like having something different. Try the burgers; they’re worth it!

The Boiler Room Lounge is my new favorite spot in Lynchburg. It captures that essence of fine Virginian history and culture that big chain places just can’t duplicate, but which maintains high quality and affordability that refreshes the soul :) I ordered a Vodka Martini, and a half rack of ribs with wild rice pilaf and the broccoli. All told it was like 23 including tip. It not the easiest place to find, you have to walk down 9th from Main Street. If you find yourself at a church in a neighborhood, you’re not at the right place. It’s off of Main Street, behind Market on Main. Look for the sign by the parking deck. I won’t be eating anywhere else than the Boiler Room in Lynchburg :) Btw, I’m a 24 y/o young professional male.

Okay went again during restraunt week. Have been here on other frequent occasions as well. Was out of town for most of restraunt week. So I checked some of the local menus offering specials this week. Decided a burger was the craving. Made the choice to visit the boiler room easy. Their 15 $ special included appetizer burger a side dish and dessert. I was floored at how busy they were it was almost 9pm in downtown. Almost every table was full. I got lucky and sat at a booth near the piano. Even the bar was crowded. Well I ordered wings for my appetizer which are usually very good and they delivered. They offer several choices barbecue, buffalo, parmesan garlic, and more. Try them all they are always good. Ordered the boiler burger which is topped with bacon and tilamook cheddar. As well as lettuce, tomato, and onion. It was cooked perfectly medium rare like I ordered and delivered hot with my side of fries. While I was waiting for my selections I enjoyed a terrific young lady playing the piano and singing. Live music and she was very talented and current with her music. That alone was worth 15 $. To finish off my meal I chose the white chocolate raspberry swirl cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Another hit here as good as most cheesecake anywhere. I can say that with certainty as I grew up eating New York cheesecake. And that is where I was all of the week. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. Decadent in short covers the meal the atmosphere superb entertainment and a 15 $ price tag. I am still wondering how this all came together. If I had been able I may have eaten here every evening during the week. I am already looking forward to Lynchburg restraunt week. Sorry if you missed it. But you and I at least get another shot. Great job Boiler room the staff and everyone associated will be back real soon. Maybe try the ribs if that is a choice. But your burgers are as good or better than any I have ever had from NYC to the left coast…

Why did I find this place during the end of my residence in Lynchburg?! It’s been open for 2 years, which is about the same time as my stay here. I really like this place. It’s located sorta«underground,“and has a semi-speakeasy feel. It’s connected to a local barber shop and I feel like it has maintained its history quite well. Ambiance is mellow, and the space is very very clean. On the way to the bathroom there is an old school shoe shine parlor… which I’m not sure if it’s for use or decoration. There weren’t any drink specials, but the bartender is more than capable to fix up any drink you desire. I ordered a favorite of mine, a French 75, and it was superb. He made it with cognac instead of gin, but it still hit the spot. The food there is good too. I ordered«The Cut,» which is a burger with bacon, onion ring and pepperjack cheese with a side fries. It was delicious! They cooked my burger to my liking(medium) and it was juicy and filling. The Brioche bun made all the difference in presentation too. Our waiter, Kent, was a nice older gentleman who tried his best to work out taking orders on an iPad… which was also a neat little system. He accommodated for a party of 6, and when 2 of our dining mates couldn’t make it… he took all unnecessary chairs away to make sure we had enough space. He was very friendly and personable. I sure am sad that I didn’t get to frequent here too often while living in Lynchburg, but if I ever do find myself coming back to visit, I would dine here again!

This was my second visit to the Boiler Room Lounge and I wasn’t disappointed. The service was excellent, the décor is stunning, and the food was spot on. I enjoyed the Grilled Norwegian Salmon which was cooked to perfection. We also had the breaded deep fried shrimp as an appetizer and they were deliciously crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. My friend had a cheeseburger and he ate every smidge and said it was one of the best burgers he’s had. Desert was a slice of crème brule cheesecake and all I can add is yum yum! If you haven’t been to the Boiler Room Lounge, you should go! They’re open M-S 5PM — 10PM and they have live jazz style music on Fridays and Saturdays.
