Jo Jo’s Pizza

Pizza was great!!! I had plain cheese but would def return for other items. Loved the dough. Nice staff welcomed with smiles. I would order in advance and get pick up.

One of the few traditional pizzerias left in the area. The pizza is great, thin crust but not too thin, delicious tomato sauce and not too much cheese. My favorite thing about this place is that they actually cook the vegetable toppings before they put them on the pie, and they use fresh mushrooms instead of the canned ones. They also used a high quality pepperoni that is a little spicy as it should be. And the best thing about this place is that they make the pies to order and they actually cook the pizzas. Pizza should be have a brown crust and the cheese should also have cooked brown parts.
If you like those doughy undercooked pizzas that are covered with cheap, flavorless mozzarella, this is not the place for you, go to Costco or call Dominos and eat that garbage.

Today was my second time ordering pizza from this place, and I am extremely disappointed. The pizza arrived pretty much black, it was burnt and dry. We tossed it in the trash. We waited close to an hour for burnt pizza. I’m not complaining about the length of time we waited, it’s common, I know, but to wait so long and then get black dry pizza – . Not sure if I’ll give them another try, we’ll see.
I do have to say that the employees are extremely polite and careful when taking your order.

Super staff & food to die for, Their Chicken Marsala is top notch!!! Chicken Jenni, I think it’s called (stuffed with eggplant) so amazing… my mouth waters just thinking about it. Simply the best pizza ever! I’ve been eating here for over 25 years and it still tastes the same as far as I can remember. Classic pizza! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ No substitutes

I love this Place !!! Great Pizza !!!
The sauce has just the right amount of acidity and compliments the mozzarella they use and not withstanding the fact that that the crust is cooked to perfection, never doughy!
Its a very small dinning area, but its worth the visit, can’t see anyone being disappointed.
This place has the True Jersey Pie!

I heard about this place before, but with some many pizza places in Lodi never had the urgency to go that far; but i can’t believe this place .
Is the best pizza I ever had, the dough is amazing the flavores the service everything was amazing but there’s no place than jo Jo’s pizza def you have to try it.

The food here is great. It’s all made fresh to order. The food actually has taste to it unlike other places. Definitely give it a try!

I literally just got done eating here and I had to leave a review right away– they are that good. My wife and I fell in love with this place from start to finish. We walked in wanting 4 slices of pizza and walked out with a custom pie. Rather than get annoyed or impatient with my request, the owner custom-​made a super small pie (the equivalent of 4 slices) for us instead of adding meatballs to an already made pie — «because it would taste better». As we waited for our pie, we watched the open space kitchen in action. For some unknown reason, it was a feeling of pride and joy to watch the owner working the dough and seeming so content in his world. When we went to pay, the owner came to talk to us like a classic old time small business owner.
When we got to the car, the smell was so amazing we couldn’t wait so we sat and ate a few slices. The perfect dough, incredibly flavorful meatballs, and delicious sauce. This place is a true gem.

I love the food at this place. The pepperoni calzone is enough for 2 people. Very delish.
Pizza is great as well

Apparently, they’re known for chicken dishes. Would love to try it but the online menu is corrupted and I can’t make sense of the dishes.
Someone should update the menu on their website.

The pizza is excellent. The entrees are delicious. The owner is so generous and giving. I highly recommend this place. Limited seating so takeout and cash only.

My parents ordered takeout here from the other day and I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing my chicken was! First off, I’m a huge fan of chicken and their chicken dinner menu is awesome. (Their overall menu is very extensive too). Moving on, they offer a ton of unique chicken dinners that all sound amazing! I’m clearly going to order from here again soon! I ended up ordering the Chicken Jamie-​they gave me 4 – 5 fairly large pieces of pan fried chicken with delicious large pieces of portobello mushrooms and sweet peppers in a delicious buttery sherry wine sauce. I seriously could not stop eating it and I had more than enough for dinner and lunch the next day (and even enough to share!) I tried a bit of my brother’s Chicken Gina, which was also amazing… similar to Chicken Marsala, but much better. 4 – 5 pieces of chicken with TONS of mushrooms soaked in the most delicious Marsala like sauce. They give you enough sauce to dip the chicken in afterwards too. Yum!
The chicken dishes are around $ 15 and come with spaghetti, ziti, or salad. We all ordered the salads, which come with olive oil and vinegar dressing, and the usual lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, and olives. The entrees are huge and the salad is a decent size too.
I hadn’t been here in awhile, but I’m really happy my parents ordered from here, everything tasted homemade, and the quality was superior to none. Highly highly recommend it.

Consistently wonderful! Been eating from this place for over 6 years. What keeps me coming back is this awesome cheesesteak and authentic, Italian love (service). Jr., the owner is so gracious to the community, you will see plenty of accolades on the wall. This little place has 2 small café’ tables (4 seats), and accept CASH ONLY! Most ppl order or take out.
Their delivery time is on point. Our order was a couple mins late and arrived still warm, with 2 extra items. Good food and Customer service are the strength of this long standing brink and mortar business.

That is the slogan on the menu at Jo-Jo’s Pizza in Lyndhurst. In my best Tony Soprano voice, Let me tell you somethin’.the word Superior is big and broad and can mean many things. I dunno if this Reviewer is a «Quality Customer» but I can surely tell youse guys that not only are Jo-Jo’s products «Superior» in nature but they are absolutely DELICIOUS in flavor! OH!
On a friend’s recommendation and since I was in the neighborhood, I was told by my buddy to order a «Grandma’s Pizza Pie» and the Stuffed Meatballs (stuffed with ricotta cheese and smothered in sauce, then baked with Mozz on top). I was advised to order way ahead of time as the secret to Jo-Jo’s (Take Out and Delivery Only), is that it takes extra time to perfect an order and make it full of flavor for their customers. They even have a sign when you walk in, pasted in big bold italicized lettering that asks you to be patient as quality food takes time to prepare.
I was greeted by who looked to be the owner (later discovering his name was Junior) and he was a very pleasant, friendly and likable owner who greeted me with a big smile and wide open eyes. It was as if I had been coming in there for years. As he walked past the 9 or so ovens, he opened and checked each one as he approached me at the counter. He had such style and efficiency as he clearly has done this walk to the counter, checking on his food, thousands of times, as his sign outside says, «Since 1959». With almost a sixth sense, Junior knew my order and didn’t even have to ask my name or number for the pick up. Perhaps it was that he never saw me before and knew he didn’t know the voice on the phone but somehow, he put two and two together. Pointing at me as he walked toward me saying, «Grandma Pie and Stuffed Meatballs?» «You bet.» I said. The few cooks he had working with him worked like they were members of the same team for years, and in a few movements, my order was before me. The smell of garlic and tomatoes fragrantly permeating through the white paper bag and sturdy cardboard box.
As I drove away on my 20 minute ride home, the amazing bouquet of Italian goodness that filled my car had my stomach aching for a taste. I reached back into the seat behind me and was able to finagle a corner piece from the box. Most of the time, I’d be very concerned about dripping oil or sauce falling onto my car interior but this time, it was different. I was willing to sacrifice my freshly detailed cab for a much anticipated taste of «Jo-Jo’s Quality». The only word that ran through my mind was «WOW». Upon returning home and splitting the Stuffed Meatballs with my wife, we resigned to standing in the kitchen eating. In complete silence. That says it all.

I’m surprised that this place only has an average of ³⁄₅ stars. If I could give it more than 5, I would. Definitely one of the best, if not THE best, pizzerias around the area. I’ve only ever had their pizza so I can’t review any of their other menu items but their pizza is just perfect. If I lived closer to this place they’d probably know me on a first name basis by now because I’d be getting pizza from there way too often. I definitely recommend this place.

I’ve eaten here twice and both times I was very satisfied. Yes it takes a little while to get your order together but it is worth it. Both times I’ve had the Jersey City Grilled Chicken which is a hot hero with grilled chicken, mushrooms, onions, mozzarella, cheese and peppers (sweet or hot). It is really delicious and eating one half is filling enough. The meatball appetizer is awesome! It’s stuffed with ricotta cheese and is super yummy.
My boyfriend loves the tortellini alfredo and it is a huge serving. I can’t wait to try new things off of this menu because Jo Jo’s offers a lot.

I’ve been going to Jo Jo’s for as long as I can remember. They are very consistent, excellent service, and the food is always good. Particularly, their Sicilian pizza and the Antipasto.
I’ve never had them personally, but my family really enjoys the Mussels here, too. Would always recommend these guys to locals or those just visiting.
However, they are take-​out and delivery only.

This is my favorite pizza spot in Lyndhurst, NJ.
Calzones are fantastic, pizza is always a hit (obviously)
They also have a fantastic take on the cheese steak — hot peppers, potato wedges, lots of cheese all on a big toasted roll.
JoJo’s Jersey City Chicken is a fantastic sandwich.
