By far, the worst diner I have ever been to. The food is horrible. Very expensive. The service is incredibly dismal. And on top of that, the manager had to have been the rudest person I’ve ever come across in the restaurant business. My aunt(whom NEVER complains about service) made a comment about how incredibly rude the waitress was to her, to the manager, and he responds with«well maybe you should try getting a job as a waitress». Keep in mind, she is horribly stricken with MS. Never again. You could not pay me to go there again.

very disappointed, went on a suggestion from a friend for a casual sandwich before her flight home, 3 slices of sour pastrami on stale rye, threw up 3 times on way home, fries were extra…$ 4.45 for a handful of steak fries, $ 10.00 for a seltzer and a glass of milk…$ 9 for the pastrami mini sandwich, my friend had a tiny BLT…$ 8 $ 35FOR A QUICK-LIGHTLUNCH? the server was okay, very chatty about her husband eating a lot of ribs, never came back we had to track her down… won’t be back. just insanely overpriced and low quality, pickle slice, paper cup of average slaw, blah…4 workers seated in booths eating at lunch time, had 1 $ 15 lunch for $ 35 my friend avoided Tops because high prices, these were far higher. no value, spoiled food, vomiting… no thank you. far too many good diners to even consider here.

The pancakes here are incredible. The service could use a little maintenance, our waitress was incredibly polite but very forgetful we had to remind her of our order twice.

I was here yesterday night with my BF. My very first time here and my last. We were greeted and seated quickly. The waiter came over took our drinks. We got soft drinks which had more ice than soda. Go figure. It wasn’t even that good. $ 4.90 for 2 drinks. Rip off. Now looking at the menu the pasta dishes which I wanted to have every dish was as expensive as going to a regular Italian place. That’s ridiculous. I wanted raviolis, but I saw it was $ 13. The baked ziti was also the same price so I wanted to get something worth the price. Got soup and there was one choice only. Chicken noodle. If you didn’t want that oh well. They still charge you same price I bet. Salad bar found a piece of hair or something in the dressing and was turned off to get that dressing end up getting what I thought was ranch because they didn’t label it and it tasted like crap. My BF wanted to get chicken with his penne vodka guy told us it’s $ 5 extra. Oh what? What the hell? 5 for chicken? Are you serious? It probably be about $ 20 for shrimp. Place is over priced. Our waiter said on his butt watching tv my BF had to call over him to get napkins and a boxes later on cause he’s to lazy to come check on us. Never asked if things were ok. 3 of other waiters were talking to each other. Only one guy was moving quick and checked on his table. Some young college student I assume. Bill was about $ 40 for 2. That’s pathetic. Guy got a decent tip for not showing up much. The place looked decent inside and out food was good really hot. That’s why they received the extra star. Go elsewhere to eat. Don’t suggest this place.

Food just isn’t great… I’ve been to many other diners in the area and this one just doesn’t compare. Tried it 3 different occasions and every time the food is below average.

Worst! My son had to use the potty. When we came back to table they threw out our food. It wasn’t even touched yet! Horrible.

This is my favorite diner. Half of it looks like a diner and the other half a fancier restaurant. I usually order a dinner that includes the salad bar — which I can’t get enough of. Best salad bar around with incredible choices! The potions of the meals are huge when you add all the sides included. The steaks, chops, burgers and crabmeat stuffing are all yummy. Service is usually top notch. Many times I(randomly) got the same server who I(happily) like the best. I did not see her the last couple of times and hope she’s still there.

This place just set the lowest bar in customer service for us here in New Jersey. It was empty in there, like no customers. And 1 bus boy, &2 waitresses just standing around chatting. We waited for 15mins and no one came over to take our drinks, let alone our orders. One waitress kept making eye contact with me so I know she saw me! I wasn’t expecting much from this place because of what I’ve been told about the food, but I’m not a picky person and since it’s so close to our home here I thought I’d give it a try. But waiting around for 15 minutes without any recognition at all or even a, «I’ll be right with you» no. This is so unacceptable, even for all the other places I’ve been to here in this area. I was in there long enough to notice the cheap décor and old house smell. Never coming back here again!!! I give it a 1 star because the hostess was nice and welcoming. She should find a new place to work for and stop wasting her time with such a horrible company.

I haven’t been impressed with a diner in quite some time and coming from NY, I’m pretty picky about my diners. In the year and a half I’ve been in Jersey this diner is THEFIRST place to really impress me at all. The food was phenomenal, the marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks was fantastic and so tasty. Service was quick and very friendly. I loved it and can’t wait to go back!

The food was amazing! I give only 3 stars bc of the waitress. She not only wouldn’t stop talking to us about her personal life but she actually sat with the table beside us and proceeded to ignore us. I have never in my life seen such disrespectful service! I probably will not be back due to this!

We had no choice but to stop here for a quick bite. Mozzarella sticks were kind of cold. She microwaved them. I wonder which brand they were because they sucked. Chicken Parm and Shrimp W/Pasta. The chicken was alright. The shrimp was horrible. Tasted like dead fish thats been laying in the sand for days. Literally tasted the ocean. It was disgusting. The steak sucked too. It was so dry. I think chicken breast. Customer Service was good. But the waitress would not stop talking. To us, to the table next to us. I am sorry but I do not want to hear the sob story about you and your family. This was probably the first time I thought to myself, holy crap, I hope she doesn’t come back to ask us about our food.

OMG the best meal I have ever had .the eggs were perfect slightly buttery and flavourful. Just a hint of paprika really topped this sensory experience. The pancakes were delightful fluffy with notes of vanilla. .the coffee is lacking

Let me start this off by saying I’ve literally never written a review before this. No matter how good or bad a place is, the thought to write a review about it, doesn’t typically cross my mind. With that said, the Lyndhurst Diner finally crossed a line that compelled me to immediately come back and warn the general public about what a rip off this place has become, so here it goes. I used to live across the street from the Diner, so needless to say it quickly became my go-to for ordering out. To be fair, back then I probably would’ve given this place 3 – 4 stars. I’ve moved since then, but I still work in the area, so today I decided to pick up some lunch after not having been there for 2 years. I ordered a Greek Salad which usually comes with anchovies, but I asked to replace them with grilled chicken. They told me the salad came with a soup, so I ordered chicken noodle. Seems like a pretty good deal right? WRONG! I go to pick up my food and they charge me $ 17.95 for my meal. Yes, you read that right $ 17.95!!! Naturally I question the price, so the man at the register checks the menu for me. Greek salad is $ 12.95, but adding chicken is an additional $ 5. You’d think that’s something they’d tell me over the phone, cause who in their right mind spends nearly $ 20 on a salad??! As for the food itself, I leave there thinking«this better be the best effing salad I’ve ever had in my life.» I mean, unless you’re getting your veggies from the Garden of Eden, you have no right to charge nearly $ 20 for a salad. Anyway, as you may have guessed from my one star, the salad sucked! They didn’t even put dressing on it or give me any on the side. How the eff do you forget dressing, the most integral part of a salad!!! The chicken was chewy and tasted like garbage. Not to mention, they only gave me 5 slivers, meaning they charge $ 1 per puny slice. The salad was pretty big, but since it didn’t taste good who would even want all that extra lettuce. The soup was pretty good, seems homemade, not worth another star though, nor a trip back cause my mom’s is better anyway. Now, maybe it’s just me, but anytime I order food from a diner, I expect quick, reasonably priced food, that tastes decent. Shouldn’t be too hard to live up to those expectations seeing as how they’re not too high to begin with. Pretty much the only expectation they lived up to was the quick pick-up time, but if that was the only thing I cared about I would’ve just gone to Wendy’s who actually whips up a pretty mean salad(better than here at least). So, there you have it, my god awful experience with the Lyndhurst Diner. If your question to me is would I ever go back? My question to you is, are you effing high??! If so, then maybe, just MAYBE, you’ll enjoy the food there. If not, steer clear, there are plenty of other places in the area that serve better quality food and are more affordable.

I’ll echo the other very low ratings already given — this place needs a rework on the interior and the management to say the least. I went there as a favor to a friend who started working there, but I wouldn’t eat there again if I was getting paid! Apparently the only people who frequent the place are self-absorbed townies who consider it their hometown diner. Anyone else would want to yak. The interior looks like a formica nightmare. The management consists of rude, abrupt, snotty old timers with a few younger obnoxious foreigners who think that they work at the four seasons. They all need to be replaced with people who have people skills, instead of people obsessed with cutting pastries into pieces to make more money. The food is lousy, and that’s coming from someone who is not a picky eater. The staff are mixed, but mostly unable to act like normal human beings. Instead of the focus being on the customer, the focus is on arguments with the management. My first time there, a waitress with brown curly hair was having an argument with the most snotty manager over a billing error, which turned into a calculator being thrown. Regarding calculators, the place is littered with calculators, instead of having them away from eating areas and out of sight(e.g. in the back room). Miss curly brown hair went on the pull her pants up, sticking her rear at me while I was eating at the counter. Then, since I apparently wasn’t giving her enough attention, she leaned backwards against the counter so that her bushy pony tail was practically in my food. Finally I said«nice hair» to sarcastically acknowledge her ponytail invading my eating space. You just can’t make this stuff up. The customers’ eating space doubles as a corral for calculators and piles of customer bills, which again could & should be kept out of sight somewhere else. A staffer took my order and literally got everything wrong even though I repeated it twice. When I asked another staffer for a slice of lemon, and it was a half an hour while being told repeatedly«it’s being cut». If you don’t live in this town, don’t eat here. If you do live in this town, don’t eat here, this place is an insult to everything decent, human, and friendly about diners.

Five of my friends and I stopped in around 1:30 am after a night out. Two of us got meals and the rest were not hungry so we just got drinks. The waitress told us that since all of us didn’t order at least $ 3.00 worth of food we would be charged $ 3.00 for«eating in». As ridiculous as it sounds I got charged $ 3.00 to sit at a table. I could MAYBE justify this if were were there during peak business hours and the place was packed but it was 1:30 in the morning and there were only 2 other people there besides our group. Needles to say it’s not about the money, but the principle of the matter. Also the food was sub-par and the place needs a major facelift, there are plenty of better diners in NJ. Never coming here again.

The problem with this diner is the manager on staff. He is the most unprofessional, incompetent, abrupt person in that place and should be fired. Also, someone I know that used to work here told me the employees never wash their hands, even after handling raw meat. They even mix the raw meat with their vegetables which causes salmonella. Very alarming!

A good diner to count on. The service is good and the food comes out fast and always in large portions. They have good food that are not too greasy or lacking in flavor. It’s a good go-to for a diner. Their omelettes are huge and delicious. They definitely give you your money’s worth. I like the waffles as well as their eggs Benedict(though the sauce is slightly sour for my taste, still good). Sunny is the best waiter there! But all the wait staff are super nice and friendly and you can strike up a conversation with most of them. The décor is very old fashioned looking… I think it’s for an older crowd. It’s traditional looking with its dark greens and maroon colors… But like I said, it’s dependable overall.
