Small place, and I don’t like eating with people I don’t know outside but really good food. Service was great! We will go back for sure!

Great bbq, choices of sauce. Small seating area and noisy but food was great. Cheese sticks are outstanding!

Crowd was a little loud when we were there, but still had an enjoyable dining experience. We liked reading some of the interesting menu choices, burgers. Glad I tried the peanut butter one. Will want to be back to try some of the other things on the menu.

Came here for dinner last weekend and today late lunch. Very low key restaurant, owner is on site(both times we have been). Tried a few moonshines last week. Today just ordered a pop. Love the mason jar cups and metal plates. Very low key, but both times busy enough to feel lively but not so busy your service is affected. Very kid friendly, more kid chairs available then at big chain restaurants. Kid cheeseburger is same size as adult burgers. Will feed my 4 year old and me. The owner is pet friendly, which is awesome. His dog was on patio. We will definitely support this establishment.

This place has a wonderful rustic ambiance. The food here has gotten actually better over the years. The ribs now are to die for. I’ve had the pulled pork sliders countless times. This place actually offers and sells moonshine, legal moonshine that is. They offer a wide selection of scotches and Bourbons also. It’s a wonderful place to meet people for some drinks and their happy hour prices are great.

We were in Lynnwood on an unrelated errand, and needed some food. Moonshine is all glitz and kinda doesn’t deliver. A lot of effort was put into the façade with the wood and bbq theme, but the food was disappointing. The pulled pork was dry, ribs were dry, corn bread was dry. The brisket sandwich was good, but probably only cause it was slathered in their house mayo. Beer selection was fairly decent, and the«moonshine» offerings(different liquors) were novel. They ranged from good to disgusting, but I’m a beer guy and not a liquor drinker. All in all I can’t really find a reason to recommend this place other than the novelty of the moonshines.

Very friendly service, but the food needs a lot of work. I ordered the basic. You get 2 choices of meat. I got pulled pork and a brisket. Both were pretty dry like when you put leftovers in the microwave. Cornbread wasn’t the greatest either. The place is pretty pricey too Nice interior though!

This place was really great with the best service. I could see parking being an issue(thankfully not for us) and the restaurant in general is on the smaller side with only a one person restroom for both W & M but those were minor issues. Everyone in our party ordered the«Basic» which for $ 16 included choice of two of the following meats: Brisket, Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, Hot Link, or St. Louis ribs and two sides. I opted for the brisket(a bit too fatty) and the St. Louis Ribs(fall off the bone delicious!!!) along with sweet potato waffle fries and the tastiest Smokey baked beans. Our meals also came with a huge slab of corn bread with sweet honey butter. Their BBQ sauces were all very tasty but I preferred the«tangy» best. We’ll be back for sure cause it was mighty tasty!

Ordered the basic Combo which the online menu says comes w two sides and cornbread. I was surprised when the bartender charged me for each side a (about $ 6). When I confronted her she stated«there is an up charge for the sides». Pretty shady sales practices. She did claim to refund the difference once confronted. I will have to check my card statement. That’s too bad because the food is decent Please check it out but watch your check.

Short version: Solid bar-b-que, excellent drinks, friendly staff, small parking lot. Long version: I love bar-b-que. I love it all, sauce based(St Louis Molasses, Carolina Mustard based, dry rub, you name it). Luckily I’ve got friends in St. Louis, family in Texas, and grew up near one of the best joints in the US so I’ve had more than my fair share. While Moonshine is not quite ready to go up against Texas’ Salt Lick, its pretty much the best I’ve found in the Seattle area. Staff: The staff was friendly and attentive. When we arrived the place was at capacity, but the staff was friendly and didn’t seem harried. The new chef Mark is both skilled in the kitchen and at small talk, more than happy to talk as he made the rounds of the front of the house, chatting about what’s changed since he came on board last summer and what he’s still got in the works. Food: The portions are good. Not drown you in food big, but they won’t leave you hungry. The meat is good, with brisket and ribs both extremely tender. Not as smoked as some places but Mark(the chef) said they are looking to upgrade their smoker to improve the process. Their house made sauces are good. My favorites were the sweet and the mustard based sauce. The spicy just has too much of a Tabasco-like flavor and could probably use some more heat. The side dishes were good, but I’d steer you towards the baked beans and away from the potato salad and the sweet potato fries. There was nothing wrong with the pototo salad and fries(they were good!), but just didn’t have anything about them that made them stand out as uniquely Moonshine BBQ. My girlfriend and I split the bread pudding for dessert and it was really great. We split to Basic Platters($ 16 each) Drink: The tap list is full of local breweries, and the cocktails are tasty. I had the Firefly hot cider, my girlfriend had a berry tea cocktail(i forgot its name) and we split the Firebox Hot Chocolate. All were delicious. Drinks range from 8 bucks on up into the teens. Other stuff: The only downside is the parking. The lot is small with narrow aisles, so you can end doing automotive ballroom dancing to let people out so you can take their spot. You might have to to park nearby and walk. Alternatively, go on a week night when it’s a bit slower. Mark mentioned they are looking at ways to add more parking.

The service and atmosphere are great but the food is just average. By far the best BBQ in Lynnwood but that’s a pretty low bar to jump over.

Some of the best bbq I have had in my 25 years of living here from North Carolina. Very friendly and nice staff. They serve their meat dry with sauces on the table. They also serve a pretty great Bloody Mary Will definitely come back!!!

We were in the area and didn’t feel like dealing with rush hour traffic. Rather than get stuck in gridlock, we thought that we’d check out this BBQ place during their happy hour. And instead of watching the seasonal sport-ball on the televisions, we headed outside to enjoy the waning sunshine and ended up with the patio all to ourselves! I had a small reservation that our server wouldn’t be able to cover the bar and the inside dining area. They were unfounded concerns because she was very attentive and friendly! We ordered four items from the HH menu to share: — street tacos with brisket — crispy ribs — Caesar salad with brisket — pickled vegetables and hummus with chips Our food arrived quickly. After sampling a little of everything, I absolutely loved the pickled veg! The marinade with nicely tangy without being too salty. I got carrot slices, a couple okra, cauliflower, onion slices, and red bell pepper slices. The hummus had a nice consistency and the poblano gave it a nice spice. The Caesar salad was a little too wet for my tastes but I prefer the least amount of salad dressing. The brisket was lean and crumbly, not dry. The street tacos were tasty with the fresh tomato/corn salsa. The corn tortilla was a little on the stiff side. I’m going to guess they microwaved them to heat them up but they’d benefit from warming on an actual grill. My husband’s favourite was the ribs. The meat was tender and slid right off the bone. The green onions were grilled and we could have had more of those! I miss cebollitas asadas as garnish with foods. Based on our first visit, I’d easily return for their HH menu but probably not for their full menu. Those prices seemed like they were on the higher side but the HH menu felt like a better value for their offerings. Happy Hour menus are offered twice daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and again from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Omg! Delicious! My husband and I visited during their late-night happy hour(9PM until close.) We each ordered a mini combo and a couple of beers. The mini combo was a great deal for $ 7.50 and so very very delicious. My husband order the ribs and I had the pulled pork. Although both of those were good the ribs were definitely the winner! We enjoyed every single bite of our meal… the corn bread was very dense which seems strange and first but it is perfectly complemented by their extraordinary whipped honey butter. The coleslaw was fresh and tangy and all three of their bbq sauces we good. We will defiantly be visiting again!!!

Soooooo good. I love the house salad with brisket and wasabi cucumber dressing. Industrial design and a very nice bathroom. Plenty of parking. Nice servers and hockey when in season! One tip, the bar stools are kinda funky, you slide off them! They are looking for a fix for that. Pecan pie for dessert was awesome!

These guys kicked off with a bang about, what, a year ago? They took over a lonely, dusty old building and turned it into something really snappy. They shingled it, sided it, branded it, perked it up in every way imaginable. There’s a paved parking lot, then there’s a bunch of dusty gravel out back. Gets you that real country BBQ shack feel, even on bustling 196th. They really did brand it, too. They have the big M with a horseshoe on all kinds of stuff. You’d never guess this place was a Herfy’s for decades, though the proportions of the walls(and the placements of the doors) kinda tip it off a tiny bit, if you’re looking for it. Inside, there’s a dining room over there, and a bar over there, with iron rails in between. Lots of flat screens. Big heavy iron tables, chairs, stools, and table card holders. Everything here is blacksmithed. Or wants you to think it is. The bar is right by the kitchen, and rumor has it you get more-organized service at the bar. That’s where we sat, and watched the Mariners dispatch the Astros. Service was not bad by any means. They check on you, they ask all the right questions, they keep stuff coming from the taps and the kitchen. To look at the bartender, you’d guess she was more of a Miss Snohomish Country contestant, but she was right on point throughout the meal. She seemed like an industry vet, like the rest of the staff. They were reasonably busy, and everyone hustled throughout the evening. The tap lineup is solid, with a nice diversity and generally a good focus on fresh local beers that will pair well with barbecue. There are cocktails and wine as well, and those seemed carefully considered and well managed. The food is really just OK. I wish I could say otherwise. BBQ is so tricky. Very little profit margin, and so few people making a serious effort. Lately, though, lots of people are stepping up to give it a shot, and it would be so, so nice if we had a good one up here. We had the crawfish mac and cheese to start. It smelled fishy from more than an arm’s length away. Not enough to stop me from eating it, but definitely not a good sign. The cheese was very mild white cheese, with some rather overcooked noodles. Safe to say there are boxed mac and cheeses in the supermarket with sharper and more complex flavors. For dinner we split a plate of ribs. They were tender, and came off the bone easily without being a mess. They are lightly mopped, but definitely not dripping in the slightest. You can make it through a plate of ribs with maybe one napkin if you are cautious. They’re dry-rubbed, which, unfortunately… imparted almost no flavor to the meat. The smoker didn’t seem to add much, either, and they tasted like they had been finished off in the oven. They were kinda like eating roast beef off the bone. I love roast beef, but that’s not what I crave when I order BBQ. Alongside them, the potato salad was slightly gooey and mushy, but worth finishing. The baked beans were pretty much just brown sugar, but, again, worth finishing. In the end, we got two plates of food we mostly finished, and four beers for under $ 40. I should be stoked, but it was, at best, merely satisfying.

Moonshine BBQ is a very solid entry in what some consider to be a barren wasteland when it comes to BBQ options in the Pacific Northwest. The layout of the place is themed really well with a very Western vibe and a focus on this being a gathering place for people more than an intimate dining experience. The staff is really fun, upbeat, and you can tell they are having a good time helping everyone enjoy a few drinks and a good meal. As far as the food goes, I tried to sample a bunch of different stuff and found everything to be good to really good although nothing really stood out as being exceptional. This is not a knock on the food in any way as I enjoyed everything I tried and am looking forward to finishing off my leftovers sometime real soon. The meats I tried were the beef brisket, kielbasa, hot link, and the riblets from the appetizer menu. I also had the«tater» salad, jack stix(cheese sticks made with pepper jack, and macaroni and cheese which I am happy to say was made with macaroni noodles. Again, everything was good and seemed to be made from quality ingredients and the presentation made everything look that much more appealing. Moonshine is definitely a place I would go back to and would recommend it for anyone in the north end who’s looking for a solid BBQ option.

Fast and friendly service. Impressive drink menu and moonshine selection. Great ambience and theme. Only one star is knocked off because of the quality of meat I ordered… it was just mediocre. Also, the specialty drink(spacing on the name… something with a «bit of a spicy kick» to it) lacked the«kick» and wasn’t spicy at all. I think it meant to have some sort of hot pepper to it. The Deep Friend Pickles are a must have! Brisket is TASTY… incredibly tender and juicy. Ribs are eh… dry and nothing special. Pulled Pork is tasty if you pair it with one of their three BBQ sauces. The prices are fair. I recommend getting one of the combos. I ordered to-go and was shocked when they brought it out before I had a chance to finish my drink(10min). Definitely going to come here with a few friends.

The food is okay. nothing special. I have been here twice. The most impressive thing on their menu is their ice teas(sadly). Service is also a hit or miss. The first time I came here was when they were still pretty new and then I just came back recently, and i must say, the overall quality has gone down quite a bit. The servers were nice, but the service was pretty slow. There were only about 4 other tables max the last time I went. wasn’t busy at all, but service was still quite slow… so I can’t really imagine what service would be like when there’s a lunch rush! I believe this is the closest BBQ place on this side of Lynnwood. So I suppose they have the upper hand on that… other than that. nothing special and I hope they could improve!
