My Kenmore dryer stopped working, and after spending $ 200 dollars to fix it a little over a year ago, I decided not to spend another $ 200 and just replace it with another newer model. Since it was a Kenmore I went to Sears. As I walked up the stairs at this location there was a guy who looked like the salesman working on some paperwork. It was early on the morning and I was the only customer in the washer and dryer section. I quickly found the new model of my Kenmore Elite dryer. The guy still hadn’t come over to offer assistance so I started looking at a few of the other dryers. I walked around, opened and closed doors, read labels, looked at prices. By this point he had moved over to a little shelf desk area with a phone. I looked up as a woman walked through the area. The salesman says, «good morning, can I help you with anything?» The lady says no and keeps walking. The guy then picks up the phone and places a phone call. So after the snub I decided I’m done with Sears. After leaving Sears I headed over to the Best Buy where a clerk working helps me as soon as I walk up to the appliance section. I tell her I’m looking just for. She shows me two models in my price range, and offers great customer service. This is the second time I went to this Sears location looking to replace an appliance. This is also the second time I went somewhere else to actually buy the replacement. Next time, I won’t be going to this Sears at all.

The quality of the clothing at Sears has gone down considerably over the last 5 – 7 years. I used to go here periodically to buy clothes for work, but I can’t find a single thing anymore that I would even be remotely interested in purchasing. The clothes in the juniors section are beyond cheaply made and in the women’s department you can choose from unclassy Kardashian«clothing» or oversized frumpy sweaters. The selection is just incredibly sad. Sears does continue to have fairly well-priced housewares and such, but I primarily came here for clothing and, because of that, it’s rare I will return much in the future.

I usually do quite well shopping at Sears, so when I was in dire need of some specific clothing items due to a recent life change(no, not *that* kind of change!), I came here. I found a few nice shirts and, even better, three pairs of pants! The downsides are the strange layout of the store, the difficulty in finding things, and although the cashier gal was nice and friendly, she left one of those ink security tags on a jacket and I had to take it back and get the tag removed before I could wear the thing. Also, usually I find that items ring up even cheaper at the register than what is listed on the tag, but that didn’t seem to be the case this time around. Bummer.

Sooo… I may be nitpicking just a tad. Granted, I visited this location on one of the busier holiday shopping days of the year. On a Saturday. I mention this as a disclaimer because it may or may not impact your choice to shop here in the future. This review is based purely on the dismal, unfriendly, uncaring manner I was treated by a member of the staff here. My purchase was minimal– I had a pair of Levi’s, a wallet, and a utility flashlight. The flashlight was sitting on a display of a few other items all priced 9.99−19.99. They advertised this particular item for 9.99. I brought my purchase to the counter to pay. The woman that helped me was busy assisting another customer with locating a specific item at another store. No big deal, I was prepared to wait for service. The saying is «pack your patience» while in the midst of holiday chaos. Well, I was having a great time shopping and didn’t mind the lines or the crowds at all, So this associate proceeds to start ringing me up while she is on the phone chasing down customers said item. OK, I guess that’s fine, but I also think it is a tad rude to be all but ignored. When my purchase rang up at over 90 dollars, I asked her why was it so much. She rolled her eyes and told me the price on my items. Apparently the utility flashlight rang up at 40.00. I explained that it was on a display with several of the same items for 9.99. She asked me «Do you want me to take it off?» REALLY… REALLY? Yes, really. Instead of taking the time and effort to double check the price was correct for me, since she was SOBUSY calling around to help another customer that she didn’t have time for my petty purchase, she asked me if she should take it off. I said yes. I also told her not to bag my items because I had a huge carryall bag i was putting all my purchases into. She totally ignored me and bagged my items anyhow and shoved the bag toward me. This is literally one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever experienced. The time of year is no excuse, it was just blatant uncaring that I was there to spend my hard earned money on their products. I will never visit this location again, and I have made a complaint to corporate about my experience. If you MUST buy from or visit a Sears, I suggest the one in Shoreline, they have marginally better customer service.

Dog vomited on the carpet. I needed a steam cleaner. Checked on-line and found a hoover steam cleaner that was in my price range. Sure I could have bought it for 50 bucks less on-line, but I needed it now. Went upstairs and Manjy helped me with my product. She showed me the ins and outs of it. There was another clerk who was there helping as well. She had the older version of the same machine with no issues. She likes the newer one since it has two containers for clean /dirty water. I guess hers was an all in one deal. The nice part was that I went to merchandise to pick up the item and saw a nice sign that said, please stay in your car and call us. We will be out to help you. A nice young lady picked up the phone, came out took my receipt and within a few moments was loading the steam cleaner in my backseat. All in all a nice visit to a store I haven’t been to in years. I think I will be going back again soon.

Countdown to scavenger hunt, less than 24 hours and team shirts are elusive. No time for custom, and Betsy’s late night googling ideas for team names means we need monkeys. Which apparently went out of style awhile ago. I spent all morning hunting like a madwoman and was coming up short. Nothing was«quite right», or, even close. So, in desperation, we hit up the Alderwood Mall. Because, why else would I *BE* in a mall, other than desperation. Who would have thought HERE… HERE?!? Is where we found *just* what we needed. Monkey T’s for our entire team, and the ability to tailor each to the personality of our team mates. We matched, without being ‘matchy’. Sears, I had no idea.

Meh… Went shop’n on Sunday and even with the great weather outside this place was nuts! Located in the Alderwood mall, this place was jump’n and crowded! 4 stars for the customer service we had from our salesperson but 2 stars for the lack of in-stock items they had. We tried to buy 2 different models of vacuums and we ended up buying the more expensive one since the vacuum we went to look at was out of stock. Over the years we have purchased a great many household appliances from these folks and it seems when we go in to buy the advertised item from the weekend flyer we end up buying the«better» model which of course means a higher price. I also hate the«service plan» they always try to sell you. It always seems to add up to the«discount» you’ve already negotiated, funny how that works. And I’m not sure when Sears switched to the«car lot» sales practices, the price was knocked down $ 50 at first, then $ 75 and finally $ 90 bucks because I was talking to my wife who was at home trying to find a few reviews of the different vacuum models since the one I was looking for was not available. The salesperson kept offering a discount, but had to double check this his manager. Maybe I should have held out for more? Nice people at this location, just pisses me off that we seem to never be able to find the products on sale that we came for in stock.
