Due to a more recent review of this place by Diana N., I thought it might have reopened. I went again on June 28, 2010 and guess what? Still CLOSED. It’s gone out of business. The place is empty and the applications for liquor licenses are still plastered to it. The Tea Leaf next door is closed as well. Don’t waste your time going here. I don’t know why Diana N. posted such a recent review without confirming; it’s impossible for her to have visited it recently.(I thought maybe it had moved location, but her review still refers to the current address.)

Located right off of HWY99 in Lynnwood, the desserts here are incredible and a work of art!!! Really, they are masterpieces! I’ve tried the different variety of cakes and they are so amazingly good, not overly sweet, fluffy, moist! You can definitely taste & tell that the pastry chefs & bakers were well taught and probably trained at some foreign institute in Europe. With that said, they have a wide variety of fresh sweet or savory pastries from croissants, cookies, rolls, dough nuts, and other baked goods with Asian flare! Also very well priced(pretty cheap actually) this korean bakery impressed me! It’s clean, the service is welcoming, and there is seating if you want to sit down, relax, and enjoy a cup of espresso with your dessert =)

Opened up the Unilocal application on my Iphone the other day as I was debating what I wanted for dinner and this bakery popped up. Never knowing that it existed, we decided to go on a Saturday morning to go try it out. We bought a few different buns, some filled with red bean in the center and also a fruit cake. I must say the buns were OK, but the cake was good. It was soo fluffy that you could cut into it with a plastic fork. I believe the cake was $ 28 dollars and the place accepts credit cards. As a person that hates frosting, especially the kind you get with cakes from Safeway or Albertsons, this frosting was very good. It was overly sweet, and was very very light. The pastries are a little spendy but they are worth every dime and penny. Go try it out if you’re in the neighborhood. Although the place is on Aurora or Highway 99, it’s hidden so you won’t see it from the street. I’ve posted a picture of the place, which should help if you’re looking for it. If you’re headed north on Highway 99, it’s on your left side.

I’d been looking for a bakery around town where I could actually get FRESH bread for breakfast. Dan and I walked in and it was literally a fresh buffet of little goodies. We settled on the ‘Breakfast Toast’, a very sweet bread with crispy sugary edges which had a flavor of French Toast mixed with crème brûlée. The Red Bean cake, which I’d been wanting to try for the longest time, and of course a loaf of milk bread. I went there at 10:30 in the morning and everything was STILLWARM. All for $ 8. It’s all so good. Definite new favorite.

I haven’t even been here yet and I’m 3 starring. It’s the anticipation! All these 5’s everywhere make me salivate. I’ll be heading here tomorrow for a review and smearing of red bean paste all over! Can’t wait!

This is where I get my korean pastry fix, and way better than the ones in Federal Way and Tacoma. They have a large variety of traditional korean pastries including the chewy gooey fried ones filled with red bean paste, my favorite! I also like the cream puffs, fried veggie buns, and inidividual cakes. In fact, if you’re going to go here I suggest you get one of each and you’ll be surprised that it will only come out to be about $ 25. I did this one time and brought all the goodies to my mom who hasn’t had real korean pastries well, since she left korea!

My friends nominated me the«cake girl» for upcoming birthdays. I enjoy scouting out different bakeries and making sure it’s an audience pleaser. :D Ooooooo…Shilla Bakery won the crowd! I’m telling you it’s pretty tough to find good korean bakeries around town. Luckily, I went to a friend’s bday party that had a cake from here and my eyes lit up~ «where did you get this from?! i must go there!!» It’s sort of tough to find– I had mapquested and got lost on Hwy 99. You can’t really see the sign from the main road– But it’s tucked away in a plaza next to Sorabol Korean restaurant. The owners are super friendly. I picked the prettiest cake on display. Mocha cake with an assortment of fresh fruit on top and layered with cream filling & mixed fruit. It was light, airy, subtly sweet and soooo good. **great selection of pastries, buns, breads with red bean, sesame, green bean, sweet potato, mochi, european-style** note: i haven’t been there since nov. 07, im hoping the taste & experience is still consistent! & sorry, no website! PS: I’m so surprised this place has not been reviewed! Please try it and add on your opinions! :)
