I was skeptical about sushi in such a tiny town but I’m convinced. It was wonderful. The friendliness of the owners, including their son, made the evening fun. My husband’s birthday became quite a memory including a funny photo on their restaurant facebook page.

We’re visiting for the first time, and even tho recommended, I was doubtful«Colorado’s Front Range… town of 1300… fresh fish?» Well, like the melting of snow, my doubt began as we walked thru the door and were greeted warmly, and had specials described to us, which we chose along with my wife getting the yam garlic soup. The soup was so balanced, flavorful and logical, it was like discovering an old delicious friend. The Rock and Roll Jalapenos appetizer: bonaroo banzai! Some other reviews suggest driving from Boulder is worth the trip: only if you like really creative great tasting sushi.

Love the staff. Love the food. Great and unique kids menu as well. Much, much better than you’d expect in a mountain town. On par with the best of boulder. Only draw back is service can be slow when the place is busy.

Excellent sushi at a reasonable price. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. The only negative was that they were out of 2 of the 3 fish my husband ordered. We will be coming back regularly!

Who knew you’d find good quality sushi in a small town?! This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the Boulder area!(Sushi Zanmai comes in 2nd) Their fish is always fresh and delicious.

A group of us went there in anticipation of the $ 1 sushi and karaōke special advertised on their website. We were told that the website is outdated and there were no specials. We opted to stay anyway and try out the sushi. There was a private party going on so it was loud and service was really slow. She told us up front that it would be slow, so I can’t complain about that, just noting it. The soup was really good, the waitress(which was the owner) was super nice but the sushi for me was just so so. The rice did not stay in form and the sushi fell apart. Since I paid full price and not $ 1 as advertised, I can’t accept the sushi falling apart. I would possibly try again, just because the owner makes you feel welcome and is super energetic.

The fish wasn’t fresh and the rice wasn’t quite right. But the people are really, really nice, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars.

Once again Matsuri rolled out some dynamite sushi! Try their crazy scallops. They are to die for!!! The owners Yumi and Taka are absolutely wonderful and will make sure you are well cared for at Matsuri. Best sushi on the front range and let me tell you I have tried a LOT of places over the years. Matsuri is always consistantly great!

Matsuri Shushi is a great alternative to expensive and crowded places of Boulder. Just a short 15 minutes from Boulder, this place offers a great selection of Sushi and other Japanese dishes that taste great. After living in Japan for 8 years I know a decent sushi place when I find one. The best thing about Matsuri Sushi is the owners. Friendly, nice, and welcoming. Actually I had heard that the wife of the owner was in a car accident a month or so ago but despite that the still kept the place open and serving up good sushi. Save yourself money, and go to a place that feels and tastes like an authentic sushi shop in the Japanese Alps of Nagano.

Good Sushi made by real sushi chefs in Lyons!!! Who’d have thought? I am thrilled about Matsuri– the ambiance is nice, the servers are friendly and unpretentious, and the food is excellent and reasonable priced. They have lunch specials that are all around $ 10, and from 5−6pm daily there is a «10% off everything» happy hour. They are also very kid friendly, with a kids menu and coloring for the little ones. Try the sesame green beans as an appetizer. WOW they are addicting I cant stop thinking about going back for more!
