I don’t know how we got stuck here a second year in a row. Why isn’t anyone else open for breakfast past eleven, why? Okay, so I guess it’s kind of lunch by then, but being an urban gal I’m used to brunch. Darnit. Same awful, methed-out waitress as last year. Hair in my friend’s eggs. Greasy, greasy(and not in a good way) food, bland crap, once refilled, sad coffee. Paying for this, AGAIN, was painful — excruciatingly painful. Next time I’ll eat a granola bar if I’m not up early enough for decent breakfast.

We ended up here on a whim and we couldn’t be happier about the experience! Our server was attentive and friendly. The banana nut French toast was divine(who knew banana bread would make such amazingly good French toast?). The onion rings were perfect and the Philly cheesesteak really hit the spot. Oh, and the hot chocolate was darn good too! The prices weren’t even that bad for the island. All in all, we were extremely impressed and would gladly come back!

Service slow even though there were empty tables. No coffee pot for refills so waitress took mugs away each time we asked for more. Food was fine, but we only had eggs and bacon –not a complicated item.

A big disappointment. When our favorite… chuckwagon…had already stopped serving breakfast, we ended up here. warning: there is usually a «wait list going» and if you don’t realize that, because there is no way of knowing, the host kinda wanders, you’ll get yelled at if you try and sit. this should be your first sign to leave. but if you stay, the service will be rude and slow. the food will be mediocre, that’s the only thing that got it the second star. oh and it’s also too expensive. AVOID if you can.

Food was definately not worth the price. Very plain and simple! If I’m paying 12+ dollars for a taco salad or spaghetti, it better be pretty amazing! People were nice when we arrived, and kept are drinks filled. However, we couldn’t find anyone to pay the bill. They disappeared.

Best toast I’ve ever eaten. Don’t listen to the idiots that give this place one or two stars, they clearly don’t go out much. If you want toast with the perfect butter to bread ratio, go here!

Perfect place for breakfast. The coffee is delicious and the service is quick. Try getting in early like before 930AM for breakfast or else you might have to wait for a table. The food is as toy would expect your eggs and toast to be. Fresh and hot. Definitely recommend.

We thought«Three stars, how bad could it be?» But it’s not worth it. Pancakes tasted like baking powder, real maple syrup $ 5 extra, scrambled eggs tasted like instant. No love in this place. Don’t come here unless it’s the only place open.

We had lunch here and the service was great. We had the Reuben sandwiches and they were delicious and made exactly as we had requested.

Very average. There was no wait for Saturday morning at 9am. The space is small with about 10 – 15 tables. Cute breakfast diner feel. Note that it is part of Ryba’s. Half their stuff and signs say«Ryba’s» and just a few things say«Pancake House». This was confusing when we were trying to find it. Everything on the breakfast menu was about $ 10 which is expensive for breakfast but normal for the touristy island. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. The order included 3 giant pancakes. Any sides(eggs, toast, bacon) were extra $$. I recommend splitting an order between 2 people as the portions are ginormous. I could only eat half of my pancakes. As for the food quality, I was unimpressed. Especially for a pancake house. I prefer the chocolate chip pancakes I make myself at home from a «just add water» mix. Staff was super friendly and helpful, but the food was disappointing. We will be trying a different breakfast place next time.

Service was adequately attentive. My coffee was never lower than a third full, and it was blazing hot. I ordered the meat lovers omelet and a half order of biscuits and gravy. My Wife had the bacon skillet(eggs over easy) with wheat toast. The omelet had generous amounts of ingredients and the marble toast that came with it(I ordered Rye) was tasty and provided a nice contrast. The biscuits and gravy were just ok and I would not order them again. I am not a biscuits and gravy man and only ordered them because of an appealing picture by a Unilocal review – you may have a different opinion if you love biscuits and gravy. My wife said her skillet was good — plenty of bacon to go around. Adding hot sauce to it definitely made it more flavorful. The wheat toast was slightly burnt — much like a previous Unilocal photo we had seen. Overall a solid breakfast joint, but nothing to write home about.

Great veggie omelet. It was huge and probably the best omelet I’ve ever had out at a restaurant. Whole family loved their meal. Bacon skillet and the Idaho omelet were also very good, according to my family.

I collected reviews from each person at the table. Fast service I wish there was an option for both eggs and pancakes! Two thumbs up. Plenty of meat, Accommodated large groups! It was good because I was starving. Good work chickens! Thanks. Good good good. Uh good. Someone was offended while in this establishment. Be warned. Our professors got in a fight outside. I’m not sure it was the fault of the pancake house, but I’ve never seen them fight before. I ate too much, and felt badly afterwards. I should have been warned. Our lovely waitress named Mcayla said this was a nice place to work! Thanks Mcayla! Thoughts on the décor: «I love cows.» «Quaint, homey, but surprisingly modern.» «Everything is pink, which I found a touch sexist» «Coca Cola branding on the cups was a little excessive.» «Was not actually a house made of pancakes» Great place, but between you and me, nobody’s perfect. Four stars.

Typical breakfast fare. Good omelets, pancakes, other items. Good service as well. A bit tight for a wheelchair but wait staff was accommodating. Solid choice!

Wow. Don’t know what could’ve happened with the other reviewers but our breakfast was awesome. Served hot, quick and friendly! Blueberry pancake was AWESOME! Hash browns, toast, sausage, scrambled eggs were all done«diner perfect». It was very busy when we were here and a waitress quickly found us at the front door looking confounded and ushered us through to the adjoining fudge shop to a quiet booth to sit in. :D

I’ll give this place 4 stars considering what it’s going for is simple, yet hearty fare — and they deliver on that. Nothing fancy, but that’s not what they’re going for . ~~~~~~~~~~~~ For our first breakfast on Mackinac Island, we decided to hang a left from the Chippewa Hotel and went to the Pancake House for some simple, yet hearty breakfast fare. It’s a simple, yet relaxed diner-esque setting. You could get a sense that there were regulars and that the college students who worked here over the summer ate breakfast here as well — always a good sign. «Mac» Muffin($ 4.95) Egg, cheese, sausage, English muffin The GF went with the simple, yet surprisingly substantial choice. By substantial, I mean that I needed to finish it for her. Surprisingly the sausage«Mac» muffin contained whole sausage links rather than patties which made for even more substantive bites. The eggs were nicely cooked and light, with the cheese providing the binding element. Nothing special, but then again — that’s not what we were looking for. Island Breakfast($ 10.50) 2 eggs over easy, hashed browns, marble rye toast, bacon Of course, I went with what’s known as the Island Breakfast. This was essentially a hodgepodge of perfectly cooked eggs over easy, which were nice to combine with the shredded hashed browns. Unfortunately, the hashed browns were unseasoned — easily remedied by the S&P on the table though. The marble rye toast was a nice twist and the bacon was nicely crisp, yet meaty. Large Cinnamon Roll($ 3.50) Of course, we all had to share a humungous cinnamon roll to satisfy the sweet tooth before heading out for our first full day on Mackinac Island. Buttery and fluffy, the cream cheese frosting took this over the top. The reviews on Unilocal mention poor service, but that’s not what we encountered here on a weekday during the summer. Overall, if you’re looking for simple, yet hearty breakfast fare, don’t hesitate to head over to the Pancake House. It’ll get you ready for a nice day on the Island.

How many times can I say horrible? Let me try… HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLE… You get the picture. The service was slower than a turtle missing a leg or two. Seriously waited an eternity for our craptastic food. Got Steak and Eggs, steak was ordered rare and it came medium well. Toast was dry, barely buttered. Finally, the Pancake we got, really don’t understand how they screwed it up so bad, tasted like it was made with toxic waste milk. Did I mention it was the slowest service ever? Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague.

We were Seated right away. The chocolate chip pancakes are yummy. Enough to share with my five-year-old daughter instead of getting her own plate of five pancakes off the kids menu. The bacon left a little to be desired. The banana bread French toast was Excellent. We would recommend this place for breakfast to anyone.

Good food, very busy. This was our first stop on the Island. We where hungry. The food was good, not great. Had we not been hungry, we would have passed it by. The place is small and cramped.

Meh. Ordered a breakfast sandwich. Bland bland bland. Hot sauce barely even helped. When I order a sandwich with ham I expect a slice of ham somewhere on that sandwich. There were only chopped up bits of ham in the egg. The english muffin was weird. Not a satisfying breakfast sandwich. The only reason I stopped in here was that I had somehow walked right past Chuckwagon on my way to Doud’s and decided to try Pancake house since it was so close. Next time, I’ll stick with Chuckwagon…
