I’ve been bragging about this place to all my coworkers and friends since the first the time I tried it. The gentleman helping me allowed for me to sample two flavors. I bought two bags. But, the second time that I went, it was with my brother. He wanted to buy some for his wife for valentines day. We patiently waited in line for 30 minutes(which wasn’t a big deal). When the family behind us asked for a sample, I figured I should try it while the bucket was out and so did my brother. Little did we know that we were actually only allowed one sample. The lady behind the counter said that we should’ve shared so that he could get another sample. It was too late though. I respectfully said that’s bad for business bc we were going to buy some. My brother couldn’t try what he wanted to buy so he didn’t get anything and we walked out. This would’ve have been easy money. Now I won’t brag. Word of mouth marketing is powerful. I watched the two girls in front of me try more than one. They need a more effective sampling system and stay consistent. And make the rules more clear.

I am a big popcorn fan — I’m even having a popcorn bar at my upcoming wedding! So when I found out that Macon had a gourmet popcorn business, I insisted that my sister take me here during my visit. The popcorn flavors that we tried were delicious, and their selection is varied with interesting-sounding flavors like Steak, Spicy Taco, Snickers, Cucumber & Dill(tasted like tzatziki!), and more. Unfortunately, I have to admit that I’m not a big fan of their tasting policy. They have three pre-determined sample flavors on the counter(one the day we visited, they were salt & vinegar, grape, and strawberry cheesecake), and we were allowed to taste just one additional flavor from behind the bar. I’m sorry, but considering Popcorn Divine boasts having over 250 flavors, how am I supposed to make an educated decision on what flavors to purchase if I’m only allowed to taste four of them(and not even get to choose 3 out of the 4?) I am not a fan of candied popcorns, which is what the grape flavor was, so that was like a wasted flavor for me. And since we were only allowed to try one additional flavor, I went ahead and tried something unique sounding(the cucumber & dill) but didn’t end up liking it enough to purchase it. So we ended up purchasing two little snack bags of flavors we weren’t even allowed to try first! I’ve visited similar gourmet popcorn places in the past(Papa Hoo’s in Wimberly, TX for the win!!) and never experienced limits on the number of flavors we were allowed to taste. Sure, you get like a tiny condiment cup with 2 or 3 pieces, but that’s definitely enough to get a taste and wouldn’t break the bank, even if someone wants to try 5 or 6 different flavors! I know that there’s the fear that people may take advantage, but I think that’s just a risk that comes with owning this sort of business. Most normal, decent people will eventually reach a point where they feel foolish asking to taste ANOTHER flavor. Plus, if I’ve asked to try like 5 different flavors, I’m probably HIGHLY likely to purchase one of them! It’s crazy how big this storefront is too, considering it seems like they only utilize the front 1⁄3 of their space. I would recommend they add some café tables and chairs into the rest of the empty space, and maybe add some additional drink offerings to encourage people to stay and nosh a bit in-store.

We’ve driven by several times but finally made it a point to drop in and I’m so glad we did. We’ve now made it a point to go any time we’re in Macon. You walk in and it’s kinda empty inside. Actually, it’s very empty except for a single counter with probably 50+ tubs of flavored popcorn. It says 250 flavors, but I’m assuming all flavors are available to order online. It says you can only sample one flavor, but we were lucky enough to have a nice gentleman let us sample three before we decided. You can’t go wrong. We’ve tried Pizza, Spicy Taco, Oreo Cheesecake, Jalapeño Cheddar Ranch, Hot Wings with Ranch, and Dill Pickle. I didn’t think I would like the sweet ones, but they’re awesome! They say the best seller for cheese kind is loaded baked potato, so I’ll be trying that next! Prices: For«Cheese» Flavors Snack size $ 2.95 Small: $ 6.95 Medium: $ 9.95 Large: $ 12.95 XLarge: $ 19.95 Party: $ 29.95 (For«Candied» flavors, add $ 1 and for«Gourmet» flavors, add $ 2.) Ask about their rewards program too. You have to download an app called«Perka» and«check-in». At the register they can see your name and add points. After so many points you get free stuff :)
