Although their selection was very good, that is the most expensive meat I have ever seen. I don’t know if it has to do with the fact that they are the only legit Butcher shop in town or the fact that they are not getting a lot of business but wow. Ten pounds of ground beef and some chicken breasts cost me around $ 80. I was appauled, no more going there; I would rather drive to Food Maxx or to Fresno to my old butcher for that much money.

Great meat shop but their sandwiches — I could of made the same thing at home. Their prices are high from their meat and even their sandwiches seemed pricy. I ordered the turkey sandwich which came on 2 slices of white bread(like the kind I have at home), small portions of turkey, lettuce, and tomato. Their menu of sandwiches to choose from was 6. Trust me if you want a good sandwich and a good selection — go to the sub shop, don’t waste your money here.

If you’re driving between Vegas and the SF Bay area, this is a great lunch stop. My wife and I didn’t want to get fast food or crappy chain sandwiches, and this place fit the bill. Both of our sandwiches were fresh and tasty, and the service was great. We also got some meat to take and BBQ at home.

We bought Freezer packs in 2012 the first was ok. But, then we went back and bought another one except it still had the previous owners labels on «Gus» and was some meat had expired and some was about to the month we bought it. So, then we decided no more freezer packs and gave them a second chance and ordered a prime rib for holiday season. It was very expensive and mostly fat and not that much meat for what we paid. Miss the old Gus’ but, understand he needed to move onto bigger and better things.

This hole in the wall is definitely a great find in Madera. I won’t give them 5 stars because their tri tip sandwich is not the kind I like. It was good, but I feel it could be better. We also tried their French dip, which was again, good, but not th best I’ve ever had. What impressed me most was the selection of meat and other goodies you can buy in a fresh butcher shop. I feel this would be an awesome place to go to buy supplies for a bbq, but for lunch, I’d say Fresno is a better bet for the best tri tip sandwich. Also, there isn’t a whole lot of seating, the restaurant is kind of an uncomfortable temperature, and the prices were a bit steep for the meals.

I try to be in their area for lunch to have their awesome pastrami sandwiches. They make their own sausage, having many tantalizing combinations. Their stuffed pork loin is unbelievable and they have truly aged steaks. It can’t get much better than this!

This was my first visit today. I wanted a tri tip that they had bbq’d today. They asked if I wanted it sliced, I told them yes. When I brought it home I was hoping for the best but expecting the worse. This is the best tri tip that I have ever had. I recomend this shop highly. We need to support this small business, it is hard to come by good food in this town. Great job to everyone their at Chases Chop Shop!!!

There is nowhere else in Madera that you can get meat like this. In fact, I’m not sure I have gotten better meat at The Meat Market in Fresno either. Great selection, friendly staff, just a great place to have down the street.

This place is wonderful, the owner and staff are very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is very relaxed, comfortable and clean. They undoubtedly make the best bbq in town, and all their deli items are delicious. Their prices on beef are very reasonable and competitive with supermarkets and you receive a much better product than you would at the supermarket. I highly recommend this place.
