Employees ‘hanging out’ by your booth. Do they NOT have a break room?
Visited after church on mother’s day just me and my four children. When bring seated I asked if children eat free (with a purchase of an adult plate) — hostess responded «oh that just ended yesterday» really? Ok.
Another family sat down a bit after us. They were approached first to order. Oh well. With just a few feet from us a group of sometimes two, sometimes three employees were standing/​sitting around. One messed with the silverware. Others looked like they were on break. I wasn’t trying but could hear their conversations about other employees etc.
When I ordered asked for a meal (for my graveyard working husband) to be prepared later so I can take it to go. She said ya she will have them start it when our food arrives so it will be done and fresh as we are ready to go. Im pleased.
Food comes, kids NO complaints. They all loved their food. Im starving and shoveling my steak tips in my mouth — eating while the kids are haha. I get ½ way through the meat portions and realize the meat its bloody. Did it kill me? No. But at that moment I realized the waitress never asked how I wanted it, maybe it just came like this — regardless I spit my bite out into my napkin and gag. I considered sending it back, but honestly by the time I saw my waitress I decided to just take home and reheat myself as the kids were getting antsy.
I asked for the check and a to go container. She brought the check no container. When paying the almost $ 60 bill I was told I didn’t pay enough. My husband’s order wasnt charged. Ok– I pay more now with tip bill about $ 80. Im irritated with spending $ 80 on mother’s day lunch and I head out to the car taking my tired 2yr old and other children. I leave behind my oldest (12yrs) to collect her dad’s food when the waitress brings it «right out».
I’m in the car fir quite a long ass time. My daughter eventually comes with the chicken fried steak. She tells me the waitress said it took a long time because they had to make fresh gravy. REALLY???
Happy mother’s day to me haha. I don’t see myself returning this fathers day, next mother’s day or any day.

Will never go back anymore. We had to seat ourselves. Was there for over 30min without getting helped once. No drink orders were taken at all or anything. Us and one 6+ person group were the only ones there! so we left. Called 5 minutes after we left and they told me there’s only one waitress tonight and that we had to wait so they take care of the other group!
We were just a 2 people!
Will never go back especially after being talked back to on the phone!

I rarely have a bad experience here. I come here every couple months and Kelley is my absolute favorite waitress. She is the best. A main reason I keep coming back.

We waited 30 mins to be seated and 40 mins for food before we decided enough was enough. We left. Yes it was busy but everyone that entered with us ate and left before us. Horrible service. It was 2 adults and 2 Children I wasted over an hour of life for nothing. Literally

The place is busy, busy but the service is great. The food is good. Always good food as you expect it to be at IHOP.

This location was okay on service. We waited a while before being seated. I assume they were short on workers. The food was good. I ordered the Steak Tips and eggs with Pancakes. It was very good. The hot coco was big, but tasted like chemicals. Our waitress sounded like she was suffering from a cold. Which was not a good sign for our food. But, we survived. I wasn’t blown away by this location, but, it was okay. It served our purpose. We just wanted a bite to eat to get us home.

Its my fault, I should’ve known. Everything in madera blows. The food here is god awful. Service is sad. Avoid madera restaurants at all cost. Negative 2 stars

I’m leaving a review again and I still stand by what I said. The food is terrible. Lack in portions, flavor/​seasoning. My gawsh just season the food and I’m sure it would be slightly decent! The service wasn’t great either. What really ticked me off from such an unpleasant visit was that they would not honor my coupon for a free meal even though this coupon had been purchased through a coupon book, not a coupon from the newspaper. Anyone coming from out of town and want to sit an enjoy a family meal then I recommend Black Bear Diner or Perkos.

I have been here a few times for breakfast and lunch. The pancakes are delicious!!!

Service was excellent!!! But the majority of the food I ordered was bland and overpriced. I ordered burger with seasoned fries, pancakes, sausage, hash browns, ham, bacon, eggs, toast. And everything was disgusting. Wasted $ 35. This place used to have great food, but not any more. However the monster mozzarella sticks are yummy.

Got tabled, serviced and was eating within 15 minutes. Fast, great service with great food. Colorado Omelette was the bomb… and the Cinnamon Roll French Toast was to die for!!!

Took my kids here for breakfast just now, not the first time but probably the last due to poor service and no common courtesy. Ordered meals with only a kids size apple juice and kid size water. A Large apple juice was brought to the table while I wasn’t looking. I was distracted by being told the slice of turkey bacon needed time after all food was already served. By the time the server came back I let her know about the juice and it was a mistake on their end. My daughter already had some of it after staring at it for 10 minutes. Turkey bacon finally showed up after we were almost done with our meals. Check comes and what do you think was on it, large apple juice. I asked for it to be removed as a courtesy for not even ordering it and for being late with my sons slice of bacon. I was told they couldn’t remove it because my young daughter already had some of it. I said I don’t think I will come back here again then and would like it removed for being super late with a slice of bacon. They removed it and I still tipped well. There seems to be a management issue as no one apologized and my 7 year old daughter had enough sense to expect better service.

Extremely slow service — I waited 10 minutes to even be acknowledged after sitting down, even though the server walked by 4 or 5 times.
Waited another 10 minutes for hot tea and water.
Waited another 25 minutes for food.
And waited another 20 for the check once I was done.
Felt like I was being ignored a lot…
The food wasn’t bad, but you should plan on being here for a good long time.

This is easily the worst IHOP I’ve been too. First, the bathrooms were disgusting. The men’s room had a nasty smell emanating from it when I walked in. It looked worse than the smell. I was afraid to touch anything. It then took over half an hour to get our food after ordering.
All in all, not a place I would stop again when traveling. I’ve received better service and seen cleaner bathrooms at truck stops.

Extremely disappointing. The service is incredibly slow and the food is subpar. Every time I’ve come (my mother-​in-​law loves it here for some reason and always chooses this place) the service has been awful but this last time was the worst. I came in the evening with just my daughters, there was maybe 2 other tables with people. It took a bit for my order to be taken but when the sever finally came I ordered a pasta dish with soup and ordered a kids breakfast plate. 30 minutes later and 2 very grumpy kids later I get a semi-​hot and bland soup and no apologies for the wait. 15 minutes later I finally get my food at which point I request to have it packaged to go. I finally get a «sorry for the wait» but the damage was done. The food was not great. The service was awful. I will need to convince my MIL to choose another place next time!

IHOP is never great food, it’s like fast food you sit down for. That said, this one in particular was pretty bad. There were 4 of us for breakfast and the place was relatively slow but getting our server’s attention was pretty difficult. Also, everything that came to the table was cold. Cold toast, cold waffles, cold pancakes, even the hot chocolate was cool enough to chug without fear of burning yourself. Also, it was unusually expensive. We were in a hurry so I didn’t get the chance to really look over my bill for over $

Wait time for food gets pretty long and but the pancakes here are always pretty good. Not much other options in Madera, so this place will do.

I have been watching this place deteriorate for a while. I thought it was under new ownership until one day I saw Andy the owner sitting in one of the booths chatting with another employee. My philosophy is «if the windows are dirty, what does the kitchen look like?» Well on this visit we walked in and the windows are still dirty and the floors, and the ceilings and everything else. We were put in a booth while the server walked away. This booth had syrup on the table top and filthy seats. We stood there for a bit and waited for the server who didn’t come back immediately. We decided to reseat ourselves. I moved to the next booth that was a little bit cleaner but we still had to clean of one side of the seat as it had something sticky on it. Server came back and we ordered food and drinks. I got my coffee but never received my glass of water. I drank my coffee half way when I noticed lipstick stain on the lip of the cup. GROSS!!! People of Madera must have low standards rating this place 4+ stars. Just the cleanliness should make it a 2. Every time a come here I also panic because sometimes the ATM/​CC machine doesn’t work and I rarely carry cash. My last time visiting this place.
P. S. At some point I think IHOP Corp should force its operators to reinvest. A modernization of this place would probably do wonders if they could change the cleanliness level.
