After seeing the total home recarpeting job they did at my friends’ place, I called The Carpet Guys on their solid recommendation. With a month-​old baby at home, I was in no condition to run around comparing swatches and fibres for replacing the carpet on my staircase. Not only did the company dispatch someone to do an in-​home estimate, he brought half the sample catalogue for my pleasure. Berber, shag, plush, commercial grade to Persian rug: you name it, he probably had it in his truck. We settled on a great option, a beautiful mocha speckled medium-​length carpet. Every carpet installation comes with scotchguarding, premium padding, stain resistant guarantee and long warranty period against wear and tear. That’s built into the price quoted.
Talk about a huge benefit. I know sooner or later, my little one is going to crawl, toddle, and climb all over this carpet to his bedroom, and probably dump food or paint on it at some point in his life.

Carpeting stairs is a time-​consuming, onerous job. Unlike laying carpet in a room, each piece requires individual fitting over the risers. The duo worked efficiently to conform the carpet over our stairs, and when they found a stair that was mildly crooked/​uneven, they actually crafted a fix from a piece of lumber we supplied at no charge. Ever seen a carpet company out there sawing and sanding? Not in my life — and my family has built several houses from the ground up. Call me shocked.
They were done within a few hours, cleaned up every scrap, and didn’t disturb the baby once. In all ways, their professionalism set the bar i judge all contractors by now.
Flash forward 10 months to August 2014, when an epic rainstorm completely flooded Berkley and wiped out my basement. Who was my first call after the flood mitigation company and my insurer? You bet it was the Carpet Guys. I knew exactly who I wanted to come restore 1,000 square feet of my finished basement. I was in luck they had my Oyster Bay carpet, and at a clearance price. I settled on some beautiful vinyl to replace the lino in my laundry room, and a superior carpet to the one in my basement for only a dollar more per square foot. With the service and perks, like that stain resistant treatment, they are worth every penny.
