Only store I know that smells like cat urine when you walk in. The entire store too. Actually might be lion urine, can’t be sure. Definitely some sort of feline. I thought I was at the Henry Vilas Zoo but thankfully I just got an eye checkup and my eyesight is fine. Definitely was at AT&T.

I’ll admit it — I’m a huge fan of Apple products. I bought my first Apple product in 1985 — an Apple //c. I spent countless hours on that thing, writing my own programs, playing games like Choplifter and Castle Wolfenstein, and learning how to network via 2400 baud modems. Fast-forward to 2012. I own many Apple products, including an iPhone 4, which I love more than any of my other Apple products. It’s convenient, it’s capable, and it’s compact. Unfortunately, I’m always looking for something new(er), so after the fever-rush died-down over the iPhone 5, I decided to upgrade. I bought a 64GB iPhone 5 from Best Buy last week. It was on sale, and I could earn some Reward Zone points for the purchase, so I opted to visit the west side Best Buy to purchase my new iPhone. The process seemed painless — I was in and out within 30 minutes, new phone in hand, service working great(or so I thought). Fast-forward 5 days. I was enjoying a lovely brunch with friends when I received a text message from AT&T, alerting me to text overages — to the tune of $ 100. «Text overages?» I asked myself(and my phone). «I have unlimited texting, so how can that be?» I put my phone away, finished brunch, thanked my friends, and made a B-Line for the AT&T store on Mineral Point Road. A friendly gentleman by the name of Drew greeted me at the door and asked how he could help. I explained the message and the scenario. He gave me a knowing look and said, «Let’s take a look at your plans — I’m guessing they didn’t convert them properly when you bought the new phone.» And sure enough, he was right. Best Buy had completely goofed-up my cell plans. Thanks to their incompetence, I was facing a lot of extra fees and what I thought would be a big headache. But, with a few taps of his iPad, Drew fixed it all. I was back to normal, without any hassle. Drew took care of everything, and it only took about 5 minutes to fix. He commented that his store spent«a disproportionate amount of time» fixing mistakes from the Best Buy located around the corner… hmm. So… while I’ve never really been completely pleased with AT&T’s cell coverage or network speed, I must say their customer service is fantastic, especially at this store. No one enjoys paying big cell phone bills, but knowing that there are stores like this around, it takes away some of the sting. I’d highly recommend this store — it was clean, big, had great parking, and offered phenomenal service. Thanks!
