My husband and I went to this five-star bistro for our honeymoon dinner on November 14th, 2015.(We stayed next door at His Majesty’s Bed & Breakfast… this bistro was literally right next door!) Let me tell you about our amazing experience at Heirloom… When we first walked in the rear entrance, we walked past a kitchen on the left, with a very friendly staff, who were busily preparing fresh cuts of meat. The décor was funky, yet sophisticated. A local artist sketched amazing murals all over the walls and the ceiling. It had a lot of ambiance, for sure, even with the white linen and butcher paper covered tables. The building was a former bank, and the vault stood proudly next to the bar. Sometimes I’m a bit leery about the energy of old buildings, but this one had a great vibe to it. It wasn’t too overly crowded for a Saturday night at that point… though it did get a bit more crowded as our meal progressed. Our dashing young waiter was on point. He presented us with a lovely table side butcher block preview of all of the choice cuts of meat available. It was a 1950’s CHICAGOSTEAKHOUSE theme at that time. I was told that they have a rotating menu. Nice touch. My husband and I both started with a bowl of the FRENCHONIONSOUP. It was prepared just as it should, with a big garlic croûton and thick layer of molten Swiss cheese on top. It was simply divine! We would go there just for the soup alone! For my main course, I ordered SCAMPIFETTUCCINIALFREDO. It had a half dozen of large, plump scampi, amazing thick alfredo sauce all piled high on a bed of fettuccini. It was decadent! My husband ordered a 32 oz. RIBEYE. It came topped with carmelized onions, mushrooms and gorgonzola butter. Whipped potatoes and brussel sprouts on the side. It was the biggest steak he’s ever ordered… enough to take home and get 2 more meals out of! The steak was done to perfection. The ONLY thing that cracked me up about the joint was that they served Coca-Cola, in a can. C’mon, now… Overall, Heirloom was lovely. I highly recommend this place! We can’t wait to return and to check out their up-coming themed menus!

I had the Halibut and my date had the clam bake. We both had the lobster bisque. The bisque was smooth and tasty and just the right temperature. My Halibut was topped with crab and crusted with herbs. It sat on mashed potatoes with herbs and bacon and a good sized quarter baked butternut squash. It was worth a lot more than thirty bucks. My date had the clam bake. The clams came in a broth with lots of celery. The clams needed no butter like other clambakes. The chicken was tender and tasty and the corn still crispy.(I hate when the corn is boiled to a soft mess.) It was a bargain for twenty two bucks. Our waiter was golden. If your beer is low, he takes your bottle and tops it off. He checks on you just at the right times and when he can, will chat a bit. His service is the best I have seen ever. If you cannot finish all your food,(I barely finished mine) you will be surprised at what your waiter does for you. For now here is the plan. No. This is not Heirloom Country Bistro. It seems that it was sold, and rechristened«Heirloom» without changing the Facebook page or anything, so it is riding old positive reviews. No. This is not farm-to-table. This is Giant Eagle-to-table, if that. No. This is not fine dining. No. My waitress did NOT know the difference between Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir(i.e. which is RED and which is WHITE) Yes. They did serve the same sides with cod and a pork chop. The exact same sides. Yes. They did offer ground pepper from a Food Club plastic pepper grinder wrapped in a napkin. No. They did not wait until we had chosen, much less received, our wine before serving the soup. No. None of the food had ANY true flavor, or seemed like anything other than grocery store food prepared and served by people with no clue what they were doing. Scratch that — no grocery store I’ve ever tried would dare serve what they called apple pie.

Reopend August 24th with a New England seafood theme. They also had steak, pork and chicken on the menu. Had the cod with butternut squash and roasted potatoes. The cod was cooked perfectly. Very nice atmosphere. Their theme will change in December to a Chicago style steak house and 3 months later Italian theme.
