Found this diner on a whim while driving through town. It’s in a cute little town/neighborhood filled with different stores. We stopped in for breakfast and each got an omelette that was pretty good! It was about $ 10 for an omelette, home fries, toast, a cup of juice and bottomless coffee. No complaints. Food came out quick and the service was great. Would definitely go back if I found myself in the area again.

I peg Nautilus as your average American diner: good, but not outstanding, food, good service, good for children and groups, and long, convenient hours. There were no ups or downs, the three-star review is merely because the experience was… average. Any potential customer of Nautilus knows what he or she might expect on the menu. Hamburger, pancakes, french fries, sandwiches, etc. This provides a certain sense of convenience and security; you know what can get going in. I and my group enjoyed our brunch here, and I’ll likely return if I’m in the area again.

Wide variety of dishes. Fried fish entrees tend to be overcooked.

Food is standard diner food. Can’t go wrong with late night breakfast food. Everything else is okay.

Typical diner experience with decent food, good service, and a friendly environment. I stopped in during lunch hour with a co-worker and we each had breakfast. I had the mushroom omelette and my co-worker created her own omelette which was a good idea. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. The food came out fast. Coffee was tasty and hot. Service was good. Plenty of parking in the rear of the establishment. Like I said earlier, a very typical experience. My next visit will have me eating the pancakes.

Love this place! Great for getting breakfast, lunch, or dinner– and it’s often fairly quick. I also like getting their available soup(s). I’ve never really had a bad experience here, even though I’ve literally been here dozens of times over the years. Give this place a shot… I prefer them over the diners closer to me.

Maybe we came on an off day, but once we were seated it took 10 minutes for our server to come over and take our order. Once it was placed, another 15 just to get some water and coffee on the table. I ordered the eggs benedict which was BLAND. The english muffin was burnt, and the yolks of the poached eggs barely ran(my favorite part of a benedict). My homefries were flavorless as well. My boyfriend’s mother’s omelet came out completely wrong. I’m a big fan of small town diners but I don’t think Nautilus Diner makes the cut.

My son loves this diner and pretty much gets the same thing whenever he eats here… a turkey club with no tomato. He’s a HUGE fan of their fries as well… they came out well done so that’s a plus in my book. Tonight I kept it simple… a grilled ham and Swiss on rye with onion rings. Sandwich was good… but a little small, and I prefer my ham grilled before going onto the sandwich… but I’m spoiled. Onion rings were very good, just a bit oily. Coke slaw is ok, not too wet. Pickle was a new pickle-pretty standard. Very odd that they didn’t have chicken soup of any kind tonight…45 years of eating in diners and I don’t know that I’ve ever been to one without chicken soup. The service here was very fast, the place is very clean, bright and well lit. It does get a little loud, but most diners do. Staff here seem to enjoy being here and are very friendly. It was an overall pretty good diner meal… I’d certainly come back again.

History of places we’ve explored & lived: Hoboken NJ, Westfield NJ, NYCNY, Montréal Canada, Sydney Australia, Tokyo Japan, Hong Kong, Auckland NZ, Orlando FL, Miami FL, Edison NJ, Haddonfield NJ, Cherry Hill NJ. We just moved to the area and was looking for a local diner we can come to every weekend. We haven’t been to a ton of diners, but we’ve been to enough(say, 6) around NJ to know what we like and what we don’t like, what’s eatable and what’s not eatable. I always start with the basic, 2 eggs, home fries, and toast. Ugh … the home fries were the most unpleasant I have ever tasted, and I thought I’ve had worse, until now. My husband order french toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, etc … He had to send the french toast back because it was still raw in the middle. Suffice to say, we haven’t quite found our favorite diner like we did in Westfield NJ, and we will not be returning to this establishment.

Went here for dinner and ordered the Mexican burger and the Greek fajita. The burger was nothing special, better off going to Smashburger and the chili they gave was pretty bad too. The Greek«fajita» which was actually a gyro in quesadilla form and was pretty good. Service was excellent. Overall pretty good and it is in a convenient location with parking.

I was in Madison and decided to spot by for late breakfast with my daughter and her friend. The girls shared a breakfast special and I had one of my own. The waiter was nice at first but it went downhill after that. The food was mediocre at best, how do you mess up eggs? The tea was Lipton and was never offered a refill, waiter forgot creamer so I stole some from the waitress station after I got tired of waiting and stirred it with my knife as he forgot the spoon and the silverware. I don’t think waiter knew what white bread was because he gave me rye and said it was white. He never came to check on us after food was delivered. I had to flag him down for our check. I would never come back to this diner, food was below average and service was non existent.

I hadn’t been here in many years, but my trip the other day was fantastic. The service was excellent(so very unlike what I remembered). The food was really good and reasonably priced, especially for the portions they served. I had potato pancakes and applesauce. A little greasy, but quite yummy. My friend had a really excellent looking pita with turkey and melted feta. I’d go back every day if I lived close enough.

Service is terrible, food is average at best, and the diner itself is not«friendly» for customers. No one cares when a customer complains — whether the complaint is about the food or the air conditioning or the service. No one ever rectifies anything and no one cares. Do not bother eating here. NJ has too many great diners to waste your time here.

If I’m being honest, I’ll have to admit there’s probably an extra star for nostalgia. As a Drew alumni, I went to the Nautilus Diner a fair amount of times over four years. I never understood the nickname of «the Nauseous». The food is your typical diner food, perhaps too much selection if you don’t know what you want but all was well cooked. My most recent visit was for a mini-reunion with a group of friends. Our drinks were never wanting, with frequent refills we were very well hydrated. In the process of playing catch-up, we spent a lot of time at the table after finishing our lunch talking. There was no pressure for us to leave, no sideways glances indicating they were waiting to the clear the table, they gave us all the time we needed.

Decent«diner» in downtown Madison. I put the word diner in quotation marks because as a New Jerseyan, I am a diner snob, and they aren’t open 24-hours. Therefore, as far as I am concerned, they aren’t a diner. :) Food selection and quality is average for a diner. It’s very convenient to downtown shopping and the train station. I do think it’s a bit overpriced, but the service is fast, and drinks are refilled often.

Used to come to this Diner a couple years ago. They had the best matzoh ball soup. Came in at 12PM on Friday. It was already getting crowded. We were greeted immediately and escorted to a booth. The server came over with water, menus and a big smile :-). I must happily say, the water glasses were not overloaded with ice. We ordered Flounder and a Grecian style flatbread. It was only a very short wait for the food. Maybe like 8 minutes? The flounder was broiled nicely and flakey. This entrée came with mashed potatoes and string beans. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. The string beans were steamed. They had a nice crisp texture to them. The Grecian style flatbread had provolone, onions artichokes, spinach and feta cheese. All the ingredients were super fresh, delicious and most of all healthy!(Bottom line –you get your veggies!!!) We were not rushed at all throughout our meal. The food was plentiful. We did get doggy bags. The two entrées came to a total of $ 32.00. In my opinion, a good deal for two entrées. The restaurant is very clean. The place has plenty of seating. There is a handicap access ramp to the restaurant. Parking availability is on the street or in their private lot. The restaurant can be easily seen when driving on Main Madison. Definitely will return to Nautilus Diner when I’m up in that«neck of the woods!».

This is your standard, run of the mill diner. I went to the Nautilus Diner for breakfast before a meeting I had at a local company. The menu is not large for breakfast but you can get your fill of eggs, toast and the rest of the standard fare. Food was bland though. I got a couple of eggs and some homefries and toast. It was a lackluster meal. Service was friendly and the restaurant seemed clean. Prices are reasonable(my meal was $ 7.50). They have a large parking lot which made parking a cinch and the location is convenient being right off of Main Street.

They say NJ is the land of the Diners. Well I have only been to a couple of them in the state and never have I given one place repeated business. Not until Nautilus. I had the pancake breakfast three times and the last two times went with Potato pancakes and then scrambled egg platter. First the pancakes, these are some of the biggest pancakes you have ever seen. They cover what had to be a 10″ plate. Nice and thick and just right with the right amount of butter and syrup you’ll lick the plate. I added the side of crispy bacon and that was the topper. Not your typical(thanks for nothing) two strips side, but a jumble of bacon strips served on a small side plate. The bacon is so crispy that if snap it by hand the fragments are likely to put an eye out. FYI for me that’s good. Not so much to say about the Potato pancakes or the eggs. These are just ordinary, so I’ll skip them in the future. The service is very down home. You won’t find a nicer group of people and that friendly service doesn’t come at the expense of speed. You can be in and out for breakfast in 30 minutes, just what I need for starting another workday. Nautilus will be a regular stop on my Jersey circuit tour.
