My family and I had dinner here for a birthday last night, and the food was outstanding. We had questions about certain ingredients due to allergies, and the owner himself came out to speak with us about it and ensure our meal and experience was a positive one. A great place!

Tonight my husband and I met long-time friends here – each couple driving 45+ minutes for our third visit. This has become our meeting place of choice as parking is easy – right in back – & the restaurant is clean and the menu is extensive. Wait service is excellent – tonight we had wonderful Susan. The 4 of us had Chicken Asiago(#2), Pecan Encrusted Salmon, & Yellow Fin Tuna after sharing coconut shrimp as an appetizer. Each serving was freshly prepared, generous and delicious. YUM!(The bill with appetizer, entrée, coffee, tax and tip was $ 65 per couple. BYOB helps!)

Friendly management and helpful waitstaff. My wife and I dropped in without reservation and were pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent. Would definitely return.

Again Shakespeare theater and we said where can we go after work where the food is great and so is the service. I had the 5 spice salmon. It was cooked to perfection. Perhaps a little too much sauce but very tasty. My husband had the pan seared scallops which were ‘excellent’! Service was in perfect time for us to make the Theater. Staff want to make sure we get out in time to make the show. Food, service and staff — great!!!

Soho 33 has become one of my go — to for special nights places. My wife and I needed a light quick meal before Drew theater and through Unilocal found Soho 33 to meet our needs. Boy were we pleased! First we had a fried Calamari salad, delicately coated and seasoned lightly fried tasty calamari rings and tentacles over a slightly warmed salad with a delectable aoli dressing on side. A few chunks of delicious house made focaccia with slightly spiced olive oil made us almost full. Yet the wonderful main course of grilled sushi grade tuna was still to come. This was accompanied by some lightly sautéed julienne vegetables and ginger spiced fine spaghetti. All delectable. I am not a desert person but my wife makes up for it and she had a wedge of flour less chocolate cake which, after she rolled her eyes a few times, I had to take a couple of scoops. Our waitress, Allie, was ever so informative and pleasant, while she single handedly took care of us and a half dozen other tables. We look forward to another visit. They give a modest discount for Drew theater goers. Accessible from front street parking or back entrance parking. Front outdoor dining available. BYOB is pleasantly handled. Prices are reasonable for quality and BYO. Our bill above was under fifty, all inclusive. So our evening of wonderful food and theater was a bit over a hundred. Definitely again.

Food is above average… Atmosphere is like eating in a bagel shop… it needs a serious upgrade … I am sure it is holding the business back… It’s just not inviting at all … Which is a shame because otherwise it’s a great place!

We went to Soho33 for dinner and I would NEVEREVER go back. The bread was spongey and damp and the texture was similar to foam insulation and tasted like corn meal. When we got our meal the pasta and tuna dish was just disgusting, it didn’t make sense it was like really really bad Chinese food. The fish was fresh however the sauce was greasy and did not make sense for raw tuna. When I told the waitress I could not eat the dish she explained to me that the dish was too expensive for the restaurant to swap out for a different dish. She said I could pay for a whole other meal in addition to the gross tuna. So the Tuna just sat there on the table and I didn’t eat dinner, and the waitress & restaurant did NOT care at all. Then she offered a dessert on her for the troubles and when we ordered the dessert and got the bill she charged us for it. One of us ordered the salmon salad and the salmon was way too over cooked. In addition the dressing had the after taste of heavy vegatable oil vs EVOO which it should have been. The rib eye was great until half way through when my brunette friend found a platinum blonde hair in her potatoes. At this point we didn’t even say anything because we knew they wouldn’t do anything to help us anyway. It felt like they legit didn’t care if we ever came back or spoke poorly to others about our experience. The lighting was horrible, similar to Walmart lighting just not an atmosphere you want to pay for. Also we went on a Friday night and we were one of only 4 tables. The waitress told us that that was one of the busiest nights they have had. So obviously this place sucks. Dont waste your time or money. I wouldn’t take my worst enemy here.

Great dinner and good service. We had delicious desserts. The interior could be updated a bit…

Underwhelming. The service was great and we did not have to wait very long which was nice. The food was just ok. Everything was fairly bland. Many people comment on the«homemade» quality of the food and I agree, it tastes like something just about anyone could make at home. But when I go out to a restaurant I don’t want something homemade. I want something better than what I can make myself. Unrelated to the food but the décor is equally as boring as the food. It is as if the entire restaurant strives to be mediocre in every regard. You can have the exact same experience cooking for yourself at home and save some money too.

I’m a big fan of supporting local businesses, so given the fact that I live down the street, I wanted to give this place a shot. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend going here. Once seated, it was as if we were forgotten about almost immediately. It took us way too long to get water and bread, and once we did, we sat around looking for our waitress so we could order our food. There were honestly times when I wasn’t sure if they were closing early or something like that. The food was nothing special, and I don’t quite understand how this place is still in business given the fact that madison has so many small, good restaurants right in the area. No one working there was rude or anything like that, but it’s just not an inviting place to eat. If you’re in the mood to spend $ 60+ for two people, I’d suggest just walking around for a few minutes on Main Street and picking one of the many other good options.

Delightful! I stopped by for a solo lunch while in the area and headed back to my office, and was really charmed by the waitress and restaurant. It’s classy but still comfortable, and can be an ideal place for a date or outing with friends. Terrific menu with drool-worthy sounding specials. I’d leave the kiddies at home. I only got to try one dish — pappardelle with bolognese sauce. Simply delicious. Every part of it tasted homemade and was perfectly balanced. I was a happy, and full, girl! If Soho 33 was closer, I’d happily go back.

I hate to give the low score but I was just not impressed. I really wanted to like this place since it’s right down the street from me. Walked in on a Thursday night while a band was playing on the sidewalk across the street. I was surprised to see the place was pretty empty… only one other table was occupied and they were about to leave. The décor is semi-dated. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but maybe it was the plastic venetian blinds. The waitress was nice. Gave us free bread, which was ok. We got the fried calamari appetizer which was ok. I ordered the braised short rib for the entrée and thought it was decent, but nothing to write home about. My wife got the linguini which came with chicken, shrimp and roasted red pepper, and she too thought it was ok, but turned off by the what seemed like the shrimp was of the frozen variety. I thought our bill came out high for what we received, and we didn’t even order any drinks. Maybe that’s why I came away unimpressed.

Coming here was a must as we live up the street. Would I crave it, maybe not. Would I recommend this place? Sure why not. This place is pretty basic no fireworks or over the top deco as u walk in, but the place is clean and the waitress we had was a doll. Can’t say enough nice things about the service. The bread basket lacked freshness, but hey I’m a carb-a-soures so I had some anyway. For an appetizer we had the calamari and standard marinara sauce which was really the best part of my meal. The calamari came with plenty of tentacles and the batter was nice and crispy. For my main dish I had the linguini with chicken and shrimp. I felt turned off as the cheese that was added to my dish tasted refrigerated and the shrimp looked like the very small shrimp you can buy by the bulk which is frozen. As for the taste, well it was ok. My husband had the brazed short rib which came with spinach and mashed potatoes. I really liked the mash potatoes. It’s nice that this place is BYOB, it sits right in the middle of downtown Madison, and you don’t need reservations.

Very good food, excellent service and nice ambiance. It’s not Thomas Keller’s Per Se, but it’s very good, and the price was reasonable for lunch, considering how fancy it was. I asked to be served quickly because of a scheduling problem and they accommodated me and my guest with no problem and the food was still excellent.

I’ve only had take out here since we have a dog that can’t be left alone and I always get the same thing, truffle risotto. Please never stop making it because it is so damn amazing. Thank you.

This place was a GREAT find in terms of my parents. The food is SO great. The bread is warmed and they always keep the basket full. I usually get the filet with bleu cheese. It is always cooked to perfection. I have also tried the spicy salmon which is also tasty and really impressive. Water glasses are constantly filled. Service is really good and nice. Definitely worth a try!

I came here with my fiancée at 8pm on a Saturday night. It’s a BYOB, so we picked up a bottle of wine from the liquor store that’s next door. There was no wait for a table, the hostess gave us our choice of which table we’d like to occupy. There was a live classical guitarist playing nice electrified acoustic background music. The food was quite good, we’ve lived in Madison for 9 months, I wish we’d tried this place months ago, we would have been back often before now. We split 2 plates, the Filet Mignon and the Pan Seared Sea Scallops. The filet was cooked perfectly, and ample gorgonzola was sprinkled on top(could have been a little more crusty, but still tasted delicious with the port wine demi-glacé). The asparagus was cooked properly, the mashed potatoes were unmemorable. The scallops were also very tasty and cooked properly(not the best cooked scallops I’ve had, but pretty good). The risotto was delicious, though more like rice than risotto. I didn’t taste the cardamon in the risotto, but the mushroom were fantastic, raising the«rissoto» up a level. We were too full to get dessert, but not in a heavy way. Service was very pleasant, we’ll definitely be back. We can’t wait to try many of the other menu items.

Came here for lunch in the middle of shopping. We were the first customers and our waitress couldn’t have been nicer. I ordered off the specials menu. Coconut shrimp over a green salad with fresh fruit(I think it was a type of apple) and yummy citrus vinaigrette. Just enough dressing, definitely no soggy. The other two guests ordered the cavatelli with mushrooms in cream sauce and a deconstructed salmon wrap. The best part was dining al fresco! Love eating outside. Service was prompt and the food was good. I would recommend for a quick lunch

Great quality food. Rating for their food only. Décor would be a 2. Arugula salad — I really can’t have enough of it. The roasted pears & the candied walnuts really pair well with the blue cheese(and I am not typically a blue cheese fan). Perfect for a light entrée. The cavitelli is superb as well. I wish I can bring home the sauce. I will certainly return again. Maybe for brunch.
