Being Asian I am very picky. The food was good but not great. service was very slow and it wasn’t busy. We had the Korean BBQ and Teriyakis. The K BBQ beef and spicy chicken was good but chopped up in tiny pieces, not traditional Korean cooking. the Teriyakis were good. The sushi was okay too. The California roll had cucumbers in it which is not how California roll should be made and had fake crab meat. The tobiko was very good and fresh. They charged for tea which is a pet peeve of mine as tea is like water and should always be free. Not a single Asian worker or patron, but then again we are in the Woodlands area. Overall I will keep looking and scouting out for authentic Asian food, but may need to go to Houston to find it.

$ 100 Sushi Boat plus apps as a bargain for our table of 4, but the main came before the apps, which really did not matter, but management took the large sake off the bill which was a wonderful gesture. Poppers were great. Service was very attentive. I’ll return here and raise it to 5 stars.

Very surprised by our experience at UMAMI! Loved the sushi and I am glad I stopped in for dinner. Found a local go to spot for awesome sushi. Next time I will get there before 6PM to make the happy hour. I had the sushi sashimi combo and a spicy tuna roll, my wife had the bubba crunch and the kids loved their chicken teriyaki bowl! Awesome food and selection as well as a friendly wait staff.

When we arrived we were kind of hesitant because of how empty the place looked. But good ended up being pretty good. We got the calamari, crazy roll, chicken katas and the kalbi beef. Entrees were pretty delicious, wish there was sauce for the katsu though. Would have given five stars but the service wasn’t the greatest.

The food was delicious and the service was pretty good, I really like sashimi so that’s what I was looking forward to the whole time and I ordered the rainbow roll since its topped with sashimi and I was not disappointed ! I’ve had the rainbow roll at other places and this place gave eel on top as well. Overall, everything was delicious and would definitely come back ! And got free edamme when we checked in here !

We love this place. It isn’t crowded and they serve some Korean dishes, along with sushi and Japanese. Check in on Unilocal to get free Edamame.

I came here for lunch since a friend of mine had been telling me to try Umami Sushi for a while now. I ordered the Chirashi Sushi bowl and my Dad got the Korean BBQ bento. I had yet to try Korean BBQ, and I must say I was pretty impressed. The Chirashi Sushi was great, I took most of it home and had split it with my room mate later that night, and he was very pleased. The waiter we had was very polite and professional. Took our orders in a timely manner, and got the food out to us quickly. I would definitely come back here again to try some of the sushi rolls.

We are new to the area and I sure do miss my amazing sushi places in Houston! I’ve tried another place out here in Magnolia just up the road, small place, dirty and sushi tasted OLD, yuk! VERY impressed with this place!!! Big place, very clean, staff are running around taking care of all the clients! I had the shaggy dog roll, salmon & eel sushi, terrific!!! The fiancée had the jalapeño poppers and sesame chicken, both were fantastic & fresh! DEF my new favorite local place to get sushi!!’

Service was great and I believe everyone should eat at the sushi bar. My favorites are the umami poppers, galbi, and chirashi don. Everyone is very friendly there and the atmosphere is very quiet and casual. Probably our favorite sushi spot in the woodlands.

This was a family celebration, and my father scolds me when I use my phone at the table! I made sure to check-in while I was still in the car — but pictures will have to wait for my return visit! The interior is much classier than the outside would lead you to believe(LARGE neon sign makes it impossible to miss their location!), and the menu was very easy to read. Our dinner included the following: Check in offer: Free order of Edamame, Umami Poppers, Miso Soup, House salads, Unagi Roll, Atomic Roll, Kids Chicken Teriyaki with white rice, Veggi Udon, Beef Teriyaki(2), Chicken Teriyaki, Yummy. The house salads and miso soup were brought out first, followed by the very large edamame appetizer and poppers(tempura fried jalapenos stuffed with crab meat and cream cheese). My niece and I enjoyed the miso soup, everyone was able to get their fill of edamame, but I was not able to taste any crab in the poppers — Luckily the combination of jalapenos and cream cheese is more than satisfactory! The teriyaki dishes come out with vegetables piled sky high. Deliciously prepared bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and mushrooms. Thankfully two of the table members that ordered these dishes didn’t want their onions and I was able to dig in: p This was the same for the kid’s plate: TONS of onions and peppers. Most children wont have anything to do with the food if icky things are touching it! Thankfully my niece was in an adventurous mood and I was able to pick off most of the onions and assured her that the flavors left make the rice extra yummy. Two thumbs up for the veggi udon from my father! It was a very large portion with chunky vegetables and thick noodles. My sister said that her atomic roll was very nicely done. Eight pieces of spicy salmon and tune with jalapenos — not found often without cream cheese, so she was very excited. I ordered the unagi and cucumber roll. This is one of my choices to order as of late, and was not disappointed here. Overall, the food was delicious. Delicious enough to want to go back even though we experienced absolutely terrible service. The young man in charge of our section mumbled, wasn’t able to answer questions about the menu when asked, and then disappeared for the rest of our meal! A young woman brought our food, and a second gentleman filled our water glasses. Once. Only one refill. At the end, with our plates empty and our eyes wondering, it took quite awhile to snag someone to bring the checks. A young woman promised to go find our original waiter. He appeared, mumbled, took the checks and. **cricket cricket** **cricket cricket** DISAPPEARED. We then called then same woman back over to fetch him again. I will be back. I will drive out to this area to try other menu items. as long as I do not get seated in his section.

We have been hearing about how good this place is so we tried it. We all liked almost everything we ordered. The miso soup was the thing we didn’t really like. Everything else was delicious. The edamama was wonderful. We enjoyed the Korean dishes and you got a good portion of food. I would like to try their sushi next time. I was disappointed in the cost. We went for Sunday lunch and for 3 of us it was around $ 60. I didn’t feel that it was worth the $ 20 a person. They only have the lunch special during the week and you get the same amount of food as you would during the week. Next time we go it will be at lunch during the week. It is just to expensive for Sunday lunch. I think that is why there were only two tables of customers. They could get a lot more business with the after church crowd if they offered the lunch specials.

My wife and I have been to this location several times. We love the tuna tartare and the wine /sake. Our boys liked the cooked Korean dishes and the Udon soup. For some reason, this place always seems to be empty. It is truly worth a visit. Check it out if you are even over on 1488 and are craving sushi.
