Beautiful views. Come on a nice day and sit by the water. Get a margarita and chill. Good isn’t amazing but it’s worth it for the atmosphere

I love JP Cunningham’s in the good weather. It is so nice to sit out on the deck overlooking Lake Mahopac. I like that it is nice and casual but the food is still very good.

My first review got deleted, probably because the owner couldn’t face the truth, so I will write it again. This place has a great location and a nice view… but that is it. The food is very subpar. At night they play house music as if this upstate location was on the Jersey Shore. Unfortunately the many meatheads love it and it often does look like the Jersey shore on weekends. Now I understand why friends from surrounding areas call it «Mahopac, New Jersey.» Moreover, the bathrooms are disgusting and often filled with puke. Not to mention, the owner is a real jerk, and hits on younger girls in the bar. Huge creep. Stay away from this dump.

I got sick from the crab cakes at this restaurant. The view is unbeatable but if you like to keep your food down, instead of losing it in the toilet, I’d suggest you find a different place to eat.

Other than the patio that sits on the lake… this place is nothing special. the food is not good. i can think of better places to eat for the money spent.

I usually dont write reviews on Unilocal but I am waiting for my food for 1 hour and 45 minutes and I have nothing to do anymore. I swear, I got here with my boyfriend almost two hours ago and we still didnt get our order. Plus the first drink I got tasted nothing. It was only a watery white drink. I am so pissed off that I dont know what to say. I would had walk away if the sunset wasnt so amazing today.

Went here tonight with my boyfriend, his parents, and another couple. We were told that the dock had a one hour wait, a round table that would be tight, or we could eat inside. The other couple left because they didn’t want to wait an hour and we were seated, finding other unoccupied tables that would’ve worked fine. The service was incredibly slow and the orders were wrong — it wasn’t like it was packed bc it was only 5:30. I was never really a fan of JP’s and it just shows it has not changed or improved.

This place is nice because it’s right on the water but the food isn’t anything to die for. If I go, I usually get a wrap & fries & call it a day(typical bar food.) I wouldn’t go here if you wanted anything fancy, although. The drinks are good except they tend to be on the pricy side. My drink of choice is the Tropical Breeze. Place tends to get more crowded at night and on weekends it practically turns into a club which is great for young adults like me but if you’re not about that scene, I wouldn’t recommend. In other words, this is more of a place to drink & socialize rather than eat.

DONOTGOHEREFORTHEFOOD! Their menu is typical bar food but I’m pretty sure you could make better Nachos drunk at 3am in your microwave. I gave this two stars though because they do have an outdoor deck on the lake which is quite nice to sit out on. However their drinks are fairly expensive as well so you’re left picking between two evils just to be able to sit on the lake.

The only positive about this place is the location. That’s it! Hubby and I went for dinner last night. Big mistake. The service is painfully slow, and totally inept. It seems like they have teenagers running the place. I ordered a burger with a side of mayo and a slice of raw onion. I ordered the burger medium, and it all but mooed when it got to me. They forgot the mayo and onion, and by the time they brought it, half of my burger was already eaten. My husband ordered fish and chips. They forgot the fries. They came fifteen minutes later. We tried to get frozen drinks, as it was pretty hot. After waiting fifteen or twenty minutes, the waitress came back to us to tell us their blender just broke. No frozen drinks. Huh? One blender? People around us were not happy, and one pair waited twenty minutes before they finally got up and left. The portions were very small, and pricey. We won’t be back. No lake view is worth the stress.

Short and sweet, nice view of the lake, food sucks, service mediocre at best. Onion soup was like water with cheese on it, my friend ordered a cob salad they didn’t put bacon on it, other friend ordered salad sans the peppers, yup it came with peppers, my Waldorf salad was meh! The dressings are horrid I settled for asking the waitress for balsamic vinegar and olive oil, the oil was not olive was some kind of cheap cooking oil. Won’t be going back!

Great atmosphere Great scenery! Erica was an excellent waitress!!! Definitely ask for her when you come here! As far as the food goes, the Gaelic Sliced Steak Sandwich is by far the best sandwich on the menu!

It is what it is. No more, no less. Waterfront bar/restaurant on Lake Mahopac. It’s nice to sit outside on a summer night and eat greasy bar food. I love it.

The owner should close this ‘joint’ down immediately! Terrible food, terrible service, drunk, out of control customers abound. If we’re lucky, a boat will forget to untie from the dock and pull it into the lake.

Awful awful awful. Burnt nachos with no cheese on them. Worst chili ever. Overcooked and dry wings. The mini tacos were something I’m pretty sure I’ve bought in the costco frozen food aisle. The mozzarella sticks were probably from costco too. I will absolutely never come back here for food ever again.

I went to Cunningham’s recently, only because my friends thought it would be cool to watch a Rangers playoff game out on the deck. I’ve lived in town for years, and have never cared much for this place. I’m glad it was their idea to go there, because I would have never lived it down if it was mine. Terrible experience. First, you can’t get a decent beer at this place. So I went with my old standby of Jack & Coke. What I got was an 8 or 9 dollar pint glass of Coke. Really weak. Our group of 4 ordered some appetizers to share, which were your typical«freezer to fryer» fare. They clearly make no effort to make their food stand out from the competition. Why should they? They’re on the lake! The service? A joke. Two bartenders — a guy and a girl, all business, no personality — working a not-especially-crowded bar, and my empty drink just sat in front of me as they walked by countless times. Other people in my party got drinks, but I was never asked if I wanted a refill. It actually became a game to see how long it would take for me to get another drink. My friends wanted to get the bartenders’ attention to get me another drink, but I wouldn’t let them. At one point, the female bartender was refilling her lime/lemon/orange slice container right in front of me, and I said«Here, let me get that out of your way» and moved my empty glass to the side. Nothing. When we had passed the 20-minute mark, I jokingly shined the flashlight app from my phone on my empty glass. Still nothing. When we got up around the 30-minute mark, my friends would allow my glass to sit empty no more, and called the guy over to make me another drink. Another weak Jack & Coke. Then came the debacle with our bill. There were items that we didn’t order on there, yet the guy bartender insisted that we did. After calmly and politely explaining the situation, we refreshed his memory, and he finally relented and removed them from the check. We asked him to split the check between two of our credit cards, which he was fine with. But when he came back with our receipts, it was roughly a 70⁄30 split. We just wanted to get the hell out of there, so we didn’t press the issue any further. I’ve never been a fan of Cunningham’s, but after this experience, I can honestly say I will never voluntarily go back there. If you’re going to charge some of the highest drink prices in town, the least you can do is give good service. But I think they just rely upon the appeal of the deck, and coast through everything else.

Food was mediocre, what else could you expect from a dive on the lake. Was too cold to eat outside, next time beer in a plastic cup i suppose.

I see the reviews on here are wishy washy but I happen to really enjoy Cunninham’s. I’ve eaten here for lunch and dinner and have always had a good meal. Yes it’s typical pub style food but they serve it OUTSIDE on their deck/lake side patio which bumps my rating up on what would be a 4 to a 5. I had the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich today with waffle fries. It was good — just wish it had a stronger Chipotle taste. Mom and G’Pa had the Pear and Feta Salad with Grilled Chicken. They both really liked theirs too. Service is good and someone is always around if you can’t find your server. Love the ducks that swim up and onto the deck. My daughter enjoyed feeding them right before we left.

I’ve definitely enjoying coming here around dinnertime versus nighttime when all the drunkies and 20’s crowd comes through… Yes, I’m 23 and I don’t even enjoy hanging out with such people who come here; go figure. Happy Hour is fun but don’t expect to be wow-ed by HH selection… We got 1 $ off tap beers, big deal. But it was still fun to come and eat outside with the water view and have the sun to enjoy for a few more hours in the evening. Music still plays and you can get a nice buzz on and still get goofy, and no one acts like they really care anyway. Food wasn’t bad, even though we only had calamari and fries. Typical bar fare but edible and I couldn’t complain. Service was great and crowd was chill besides the 45+ men gawking at all us chicks. At least buy us a few drinks tools! Anyway, night scene: it gets crowded outside on the ‘deck’ pretty damn quick, basically never any tables to sit at unless you get here before 10, but who wants to sit anyway? I recommend going with a good group of ppl because I’ve gone just two of us, and it always managed to make me feel awkward EVERYDAMNTIME. OH, they also have a cover charge. Just for that, I say to pack a flask and don;t overpay to get drunk. I think I paid around 8 $ for a Stoli-0 with ginger ale. Not the strongest but made me tipsy and tired enough. I really just like this place for the lake-front
