5 stars for their corn fritters, those are delicious. However the burgers are not. I don’t usually write bad reviews, bud I felt compelled to after my unpleasant experience. I’m easy to please, really I am. But the beef was flavorless and had chewy hard bits of god knows what in it which really made it hard to enjoy. I can’t speak for their other bbq but you may want to avoid the burgers here.

Came for the Brisket instead had dry rub ribs. Half a rack was the same size as 1⁄3 in most joints and the ribs Are small. They were out of brisket at 6:30 pm. They were running out of ribs, jalapeño poppers and who knows what else. We also ordered baby backs which were plump, those were good. One order of corn fritters which were cooked half way and full of raw batter. The bartender was tending bar and taking orders. This young man here’s his job and makes it obvious. He was not rude yet he was expressionless. Greeted no one, nor thanked anyone. Never once did he crack a smile. This is a restaurant with families, parents, kids. I may be the only one who noticed. We had also ordered a dozen oysters which 2 tiny slices of lemon(real tiny) are not sufficient. When I asked for lemon he pointed at the 2 tiny slices. If they had that slamming brisket I may have not cared about all the other nonsense. Ps 1.50 for excellent oyster is a great deal.

Wow, what a surprise. The food really rocks in this sparse, nondescript little pub. Everything we tried including the barbecue was way above expectations. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly waitress with basket of warm popcorn which was a perfect pacifier for the munchkins. We ordered fried calamari, clams in white wine/garlic, hickory smoked wings, cheesy fries, pulled pork and brisket sliders. A glass of pinot grigio and pinot noir were both better than they had to be. The calamari was fresh and tender and as perfectly crisp as you’ll find. Better than any rendition I’ve had in the pizzerias and red sc Italians in Westchester. Same with the nice portion of cherry stones. Super fresh, plump and mopped up perfectly with the included garlic bread.(I could go on more with how good they were) The cheesy fries were a typical diner rendition of baked American over the top. Nothing special but the kids loved them. As for the bbq, it’s authentic low and slow smoked. The fatty brisket was perfect –well seasoned, moist and fatty(of course) with a great and not overpowering smoky profile. The pulled pork was also wonderful with similar smoke and balanced with a classic slaw to break up the richness. The house bbq sauce with a good part of vinegar balances the meats nicely.(I wouldn’t mind a spicier option too). The hickory smoked wings tossed in a thicker bbq sauce were of great quality and sets them a part from boring wings you’ll find everywhere. A little heat would put them over the top which I imagine I could’ve requested but an overall excellent product. The space isn’t perfect. It’s kind of open and could use a little division from the entrance. As well I would swap the tiles for a wood floor to really warm up the place. These tiny negatives are far outweighed by the passion for the food executed on a level that we don’t often see in Westchester. If you can appreciate pub food that is on another level and/or really good authentic bbq Johnny’s is worth attention.

Very Disappointed. The Worst Ribs I ever tasted, they we under cooked and smelt funky. I took a few bites and I was done. The only reason why I give it 2 stars was the service and the beer was.

Great food at a great price. I got the pulled pork grilled cheese and loved every bite. The sandwich itself was plenty of food. Fair beer selection as well for a small joint. I’d go back for sure.

1st time here & it was a hit. We started with JDs Cobb Salad which was amazing from the sweet fresh greens, the ripened avocado, perfectly cooked hard boiled egg, fresh tomatoes & aged blue cheese; the bacon was on par being apple smoked but not cooked crisp enough. The truffle Parmesan fries were insanely addictive & my wife raved over the mac-n-cheese! Though we enjoyed the set Louis Ribs with accompanying BBQ sauce & special Homemade hot sauce, they were on the fatty side. The owner quickly made me forget about this by bringing us a sample of the brisket– juicy, tender & seasoned just right. Then, he indulged us with the over the top amazing pork belly — a must try. Lastly, our server was stellar in service.

I want to like this place, I really do. I want to support a local business. Why can’t they make a burger well done? Or bacon crispy. This is two times recently and tonight it’s not even close.

Food was terrible, plain & simple. Ruined my night. Owner seems like a nice guy but I cannot lie… just terrible food. I honestly don’t even know how I barely got some of that food down. Jalapeño poppers tasted extremely old or horrible in some way… maybe like years of being frozen or something. Chicken tacos were simply not edible… took a peak at the chicken, which appeared pink… dont think it was thoroughly cooked. Then I ordered Guacamole which was just purely tasteless… nothing there. $ 20 gone down the drain, and there goes my take-out & movie night that I so longed for. It’s not right, and it’s not fair to me, and I cannot forgive. Never, ever again. Oh yeah and to top it off. I called up to place my order and the woman told me «Okay it will be ready in 45 minutes.» HAHAHAHAHA. Do they have zero stars on this thing? I would like to give it zero stars.

Utter Disappointment for the first time eating there. I may never go back again. I waited for an hour and a half for my food only to be told the food was going to take another fourty minutes. I then left I got comped for what I did eat and drink which wasn’t bad. The fried pickles were good as well as the onion rings and buffalo wings. But no time soon will I be returning to eat here.

I’ve been here 3 times and each time the food gets progressively worse. Ordered the St. Louis ribs and they were overcooked. Burgers are average at best. There are much better bbq places if you’re willing to drive. 1 star because their corn bread is good. Can’t really screw that up, can you?

Wife and I went and were very impressed. Had the Johnny D double burger with pepper jack and grilled onions and it was done perfectly the way i like it. Burgers are hand pressed fresh not frozen. Wife had the pulled pork sandwich with there home made B.Q. sauce and she really enjoyed it. Gave me a try of it and had a nice smokey flavor and gotta admit I am not a pulled pork fan but this was definitely good! There onion rings are delicious and the owner John gave me a sample of his home made salsa which is to die for. Staff is super nice and friendly and John goes out of his way to make sure you are happy!

To the idiot«Soy L» that said«the ribs were not fall off the bone quality» Well let me tell you a little something about ribs– fall off the bone meat on a rib is over cooked, the perfect rib is super tender but not fall of the bone. Learn a little something about cooking before blasting a place doing it right. With that being said Johnny D’s is OKAY. They just re designed the interior with a bar and a believe they will soon be selling beer. I had a pork«wing» special it was good. The burrito’s are cheap and decent. Wings are huge and meaty. Not anywhere near the best BBQ in the area but if you’re hungry and nearby check em out. Super friendly staff.

Mac n cheese was terrible, stuffed quesadillas were decent, the shrimp po boy was delicious. Neither of my children would eat the chicken fingers because they were so overdone. Very nice people working there. Tried this place again. Onion rings were great, fried pickles(something i’ve never tried before) were really good. Stuffed quesadillas were excellent, my husband and I split one of those and a grilled cheeseburger, delicious!

My boyfriend enjoyed the burgers here. I thought it would be nice to try their ribs! Boy was I wrong. The rubbery fat that was holding the meat from being torn off made it so difficult to enjoy. Quality was not on the list. The pork meat was pink we asked for it well done they were dry on the outside. You would think they would put BBQ sauce and prevent this from being this way. We asked for the ribs to be cooked more but were bombarded by different cooks and order takers telling us «The ribs were cooked perfectly, that is the way they are served. They have been in the smoker for 7 hours.» We were being persuaded in believing those ribs were fine but its not working so he asked for a burger to go. Thanks but no Thanks Pork cannot be eaten under cooked you will be sick. It is not hamburger where you can ask for it to be cooked rare! I will not eat raw pork. My experience was, when placing my order I asked about the«kissimmee burger”((that might be wrong)) -«cabbage with Japanese seasoning» I asked«whats on it and can I have a taste of the cabbage & seasoning». The gentleman just looked at me as if I asked for a 5 free burgers. He instead described the taste. Being that I felt adventurous I told him this and to go ahead place that as my order. That cabbage seasoning was gross maybe its an acquired taste because he said it was like a Japanese seasoning and it did have a Japanese name. I didn’t complain because we are already are going thru it with the raw ribs. Instead I picked out the cabbage and ate the delicious meat. because yes the burger itself was good. Our burger was not compensated for the rubbery ribs. We were still expected to wait for my boyfriends meal while I ate and pay. This is and was our last time there. :(

Nice addition to the area. Staff is friendly. Quesadillas and pork sandwiches are really good. The chicken noodle soup was amazing the first time I had it. The second time it was just ok(there was no chicken in it at all) and there is hardly a difference in size between a small and a large. Mac and Cheese was not great. Will give it another chance.

Stopped here tonight during work to grab dinner. I ordered the pork tacos, corn fritters and sweet potato fries. The tacos and fritters were really good but the sweet potato fries were meh. I’ll definitely be returning to try some of the other items on the menu.
