Our son was a cadet at West Point and discovered Marco’s with a friend. We finally were able to try it out during graduation week, and everything our son said was true. Marco is very personable, and remembers his diners. His wait staff is very attentive, and conscientious. The food was awesome. Obviously made from scratch, and delicious. Thank you Marco’s for a wonderful dining experience.

Words cannot describe the incredible dining experience I had at Marco’s Restaurant in Mahopac, NY. From the time you enter the restaurant through the attentive and knowledgeable service you receive, you cannot believe what’s coming your way. Although the menu is chock full of delectable delights, I had a most unusual food pairing. It began with freshly made lobster bisque with real lobster and a piece of properly grilled bread, to an appetizer of pumpkin ravioli with a light and delicate flavor profile, to a perfect Cesar salad with hand shaved parmesan cheese, to the most tender rack of lamb you can imagine. The dessert and coffee are spot on, and the flavors are out of this world. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised! Plus ask to meet Marco, he’s the George Carlin of the food business. An American Treasure, a great guy running an exceptional restaurant. Enjoy!

Marco is the highest quality restaurant in Mahopac. Excellent choices on a menu that regularly changes to keep it fresh. Nice bar that will serve food to allow for more casual dinning. Servers are very attentive and service is tops. Owner/Chef, Mark makes all of his patrons feel at home and ensures that all is to perfection. Steak nights are a tremendous deal. Top quality steak excellently prepared for an incredible price ! Artisan pizza is delicious as an appetizer or main course. Save room for one of the delectable deserts !! I have eaten at Marco’s regularly over the past 10 years and consider myself a «regular». Have never had anything but a GREAT meal and have hosted numerous parties/events there. Treat yourself to a special meal.

The absolute WORST restaurant I’ve ever been to. Place was FREEZING and three people consisting of the waitstaff couldn’t manage to handle the two tables of guests they had. Menu only had 6 options of Meat or fish. We waited TWOHOURS for the WORSTFOOD I’ve ever eaten. Everyone at the table ordered a different entrée and each one was absolutely awful and priced at least $ 27 a dish. I will never return here and warn anyone to stay far away. Not only will you receive awful food, but you’ll never get that 2 and a half hours of your life back.

Passed this place for years, so glad I finally went. The food is excellent, freshly prepared. Truly hidden gem that will be my new favorite place. Great food and a very fair price. Menu changes seasonal and based on what is fresh and in season, no prepackaged frozen food here. Reading other reviews I was baffled. The place was intimate and we had no wait. The bartender was charming and sweet. The staff was more than friendly and accommodating. Met the owner/chef which was a real treat. Go there!

Marcos is a great local restaurant. If you’re not in a hurry and want a fine meal – Marcos is the spot. We always have a good experience here and have ben coming here for years – especially on special occasions. Great service and great food.

What an outstanding Restaurant! I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a true culinary artist is plying his trade right here in Mahopac. I don’t think that his skills are truly appreciated here in Putnam County. If this restaurant was in lower Westchester county or Manhattan there would be a line out the door. The food and the service was fantastic. Chef Marco and hostess Rose made us feel right at home. Highly Recommended!

My wife and I live in the area and we eat out at family owned restaurants 3 — 4 nights a week so we know what’s available. I’ve been talked into going to Marco’s 4 times in the last 10 years with the expectation that it would improve — it only gets worse. Make a reservation and you can still expect to wait a 15 — 30 minutes for a table even though the place is half empty. No apologies — you’ll be ignored. You can wait at the bar but you can’t get a drink because there’s no bartender. Once you’re seated, they will take your drink order after about a half hour. Expect to wait another 15 minutes for the drinks but you still can’t order food. A couple seated next to us asked the waitress why everything took so long. She said it was because they didn’t have a reservation(the customer’s fault!). We had a reservation and our service was the same as theirs. I must admit that the food is mostly good but maybe that’s because you’ve waited so long that raw opossum innards would taste good to a starving man. But last night I ordered French Onion soup — they served plain onion soup — no cheese on top. I sent it back. They added grated cheese. They turned off the heat! Two couples ate their meals in winter coats. One lady was wearing gloves! I enjoy eating at a leisurely pace and I don’t like to be rushed but a meal at Marco’s takes a full four hours. Most of that time is spent looking for someone, anyone, to take your order, return with your order, anything! Expect be ignored repeatedly by the slowest, most inefficient staff East of the Pecos. Best advice: Eat a meal before you go to Marco’s because you don’t know when you’ll see food again! Never again!

This is by far the best restaurant in the Mahopac/Carmel area. Mark and Rose are a great team and Mark serves up incredible steak and game all the time. Dinner is reasonably priced and Mark has a great wine list!

This is the best restaurant in the area. We have been here a few times and went tonight. The prices are very reasonable. I told my husband tonight that I didnt understand why we didnt come here more frequently. I thought it was an expensive restaurant but it really is not that expensive. My entrée was under $ 20 and excellent and it included a salad. Everything is very fresh and made to order so don’t expect quick service. The onion soup was to die for and so was the chocolate mousse cake. I did go over on my Weight Watchers points tonight.

marco’s restaurant can be considered as one of my favorite dining places. their dishes such as garlic breads, bruschetta and girella are really delightful ! if i were to otder a pasta in the menu, my choice would be their ambrosial rigatoni con polpette with meatballs. if i were to rate this resto, i would give five stars!

I’ve not been a regular here, but the food is up scale, talented and delicious. The wines are high end and humanly priced. In all, I believe the best restaurant anywhere near Mahopac and Putnam Valley.
