Great Diner. The food was just awesome. The home fries were the best I had.

Our go-to diner in the area. My kid loves the«snowy white pasta»(penne with alfredo sauce, hold the parsley). When all else fails, go to State Line. We went other diners and always regret it. It has a tendency to get full, so we need to remind ourselves not to go exactly at lunchtime or Friday evenings.

Average diner at best in aesthetics, food quality, and service. Have been to a ton of diners in Nj. I have also eaten here about a dozen times. Eggs taste a little funny along with pancakes and other breakfast foods … Some wraps and sandwiches are pretty delicious though. Service is decent at best.

I have lived in the area for over 3 decades and always this diner’s cakes which they baked at their own facility. The huge chocolate mousse pastry. tiramisu, the plain and 3 varieties of cheesecake — all were excellent and better than I have eaten just about anywhere else. I would buy several of these and freeze some for later indulgence. But something has changed in their baking department recently as I find the cakes diminished in quality quite noticeably. I am not only a foodie, but love baked goods and pay very close attention to it. This is very disappointing to me as I have brought their desserts to many friends’ and family affairs. But… I am also relieved as I won’t have to mourn and miss this place after moving away from NJ later this year. Strange… isn’t that? Otherwise I would be extremely sad over the move!

Sent on a two week business trip to convert locations and worked long and hard. Needed some comfort food after another grueling day and boy, we were not disappointed. Three large men fit easily in the booth, but so much food showed up that we became cramped. What a great problem to have. Our waitress immediately made a connection with us and instinctively knew what to recommend. Pork chops, roast beef and prime rib were our selections with all the trimmings. All were terrific. Finally, what can you always depend on at a diner? PIE! With ice cream or whipped cream, all were splendid. Despite being about 300 miles away, I see a road trip in our future. Returned a couple of mornings later with the entire team and everyone left satisfied. Well done, State Line!

Great omelette. Great service. Always a reliable place to visit for breakfast. Prices are reasonable and portions are plenty.

Another 4-Star rating/experience with this place. We stopped here for bfast on our way home on a Sunday morning. PACKED as usual!!! My Son ordered chocolate chip pancakes, the other a bacon and egg sammach with fries, my wife an omelet with Home Fries and myself the breakfast Quesadilla with Home Fries… Yummy!!! Very quick and courteous service, even though it was very busy. Our server wasn’t wearing a name tag nor was his name on the check so I couldn’t get his name, but he was one of maybe two men servers there that day… Another great experience at the State Line Diner. Again, Highly Recommended!!!

This is your typical jersey diner but it’s open 24⁄7 and has a full bar! Conveniently located on State RT. 17. Came here on a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty busy but there wasn’t a wait. I like the interior of the diner. It looks more like a restaurant. Very modern décor and the booths are really comfortable. The menu is huge, just like every other diner in NJ… You could spend days reading through the entire thing. Coffee was eh. For an appetizer we got the pulled pork BBQ sliders– GETTHESE! They’re delicious. I had the apple salad. Basically spinach with walnuts, radish, crumbled blue cheese, and apples. It came with an apple vinaigrette dressing which was different– I liked it but the salad wasn’t anything special. Not very many ingredients in it either. They should have added dried cranberries to it. It woulda been better. My boyfriend got a patty melt which is a cheeseburger with sautéed onions on rye bread. For a side he got zucchini sticks. He was happy. The zucchini sticks were really good. I was disappointed in the small selection of soups they offer. They had Greek lemon, minestrone, and some other random soup. They didn’t even have French onion daily– which most diners do offer every day of the week. All in all it wasn’t the best diner experience I’ve had. Our waitress was very sweet but the food was EH… With the huge selection of diners to choose from in north jersey this wouldn’t be my first or second choice.

Service was excellent, food was decent… What left me thoroughly disgusted was the piece of RAG in my pumpkin cheesecake. The manager described it as «a piece of the rag the baker uses to clean up»…(Not quite sure if I needed that mystery to be solved) and proceeded to remove that charge from the bill. Would have been nice to have the meal comped given my experience but it is what it is, I suppose. Aside from that everything was fine. Should you decide to indulge in dessert, I caution you to eat very slowly… VERY slowly… I’m put off after writing this :-(

Open all day, every day. Old school diner serving breakfast, lunch, or dinner at any hour of the day. Great buffalo chicken wrap or sandwich… highly recommend it! It’s a pretty big place with a plethora of seating so there’s usually not a terrible wait. Only drawback is the water tastes like the pipe/filters haven’t been changed in quite a while so beware of unsettling tap water taste.

I’m here in jersey following hubbi on a business trip. I have been to this diner like everyday for breakfast. My son’s are in love with there huge pancakes and I love the omelets. I have had a grilled chicken sandwich that just blow me away, yes it was that good. The chicken tender was received very well by my kids. I have nothing but good things to say about this diner.

I have been coming here for years since I work right down the road. Man they do some business here, always busy but get us in and out for our hour lunch. Normal diner food. Have never had anything I didn’t like. They have good lunch specials that come with a cup of soup and a soda. I recommend the matzah ball soup! Salads are huge! Also a sucker for the waffle or sweet potato fries.

Driving through NJ on way to FL and as both of us are originally from NJ, we got nostalgic and decided to have lunch at a «Jersey» diner! We were so pleasantly surprised at the modern, clean, huge dining room. Very comfortable booths. Wait staff was very happy, professional and very attentive! We both had there«newer» salads on menu with grilled chicken. They were great! Nice portion of greens, walnuts, strawberries, blue cheese. Chicken was freshly grilled, seasoned well, tender. Didn’t even need dressing, it was so tasty!!! My husband had the Cobb salad and was similarly impressed. Recommend this diner highly and we will go back in future!

Excellent diner. I had the broiled seafood platter which was very good. Spouse had the grilled lamb chops. He said they were very good too. Menu is extensive. They have everything. Typical Greek/Diner food. Fancy and clean with in house baked cakes.

I will start with the good. My husband and I ate here 3 times during our week-long stay in Mahwah. Tonight we had a wonderful waitress named Samantha. She was very friendly, attentive, has a great personality, and has a very cute Jersey accent. She deserves to work in a better environment, however, because on our other visits the waitstaff was gruff, inattentive, and the old man that works the front desk was just down right rude and a jerk. If it wasn’t right by our hotel and open 24 hours we would have gone elsewhere. The food is decent and there is a lot of it. The garden salad is very large with a generous amount of tomatoes and cucumber. The ranch dressing tastes bottled. My husband had the wedge salad and said it was«good for a diner.» The roast turkey and dressing is good, but the dressing tasted sweet. The pastrami sandwich was a disappointment, you’ll get a much better one at Schlotzskys. The desserts are generously portioned, but are only slightly better than those you’ll find at a grocer’s bakery.

I usually don’t give five stars based on one meal. However, yesterday’s lunch was so delicious that I must. We had a very productive morning birding at the Celery Farm in Allendale. Having noticed the diner on our way down 17, we headed on over. Actually, we noticed three diners in the area but only State Line was doing a brisk business. Huge lunch crowd but we were seated right away at a nice booth. Great server. Chicken and fries for the boy. Corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, well done home fries and rye toast for me. Chicken pita wrap with fried zucchini to go for my wife. My son thought his food was outstanding. My hash was properly crusty, the home fries well done as requested. Plenty of good coffee. My wife loved her to go order. Everything was just exactly perfect. Diners are everywhere in New Jersey. State Line sits on top of the heap. Can’t wait for our next visit.

So I’ve only been to Stateline once… Early Sunday May 10 @ 3am. Coming from Nyack with my best friend(under considerable inebriation), I was most definitely in need for some good American fare. Although I was lacking in some sobriety, I totally remember my experience here. Stateline didn’t disappoint. I ordered the CrabCake Benedict, with a side order of pancakes. I was pleased. An abundance of flavor, without being overly seasoned or modified. Just well-executed food. Nothing over-the-top, but they are definitely worthy of future visits. Not to mention our waitress was the bees’ knees. She did all that was expected of her to make our visit pleasant. Dude at the front who takes payments, on the other hand, was about as pleasant as a nagging girlfriend during Monday Night Football. He tends to always get into it with customers about minor issues, and has a serious attitude problem. He appears to be a manager or something. If it wasn’t for their food, waitstaff, and hours(24⁄7), and I had to rate based on HIS attitude? He’d get NO stars.

I have been here probably close to 15 times at least… not sure why I never thought to check in/write a review until today. Overall this diner rides the line of satisfactory and good. To put it plain and simple, its the best option for diners in the area… which is why I like it. Its not really comparable to some other diners that I really like(Pompton Queen on Rt 23 North, best diner ever).but its what I’m working with for this area. Positives: –its big and I’ve never had to wait long for a table. –food comes out pretty fast(good lunch spot) –most of the food is pretty good… I’ve had a few odd balls but for the most part I’ve been satisfied with my meals. What needs some attention: –staff: I would say 75% of the staff is crude and unfriendly. I understand part of it could be stress related(as this place is always bumpin, especially around lunch time) but a little bit of niceness goes a long way. At least in my book. –Prices: for the most part the prices are in line with other diners but today I had a house salad and was kind of shocked at the quality of the salad and the price tag. Shredded iceberg lettuce(could barely get it to stay on my fork) with 2 pieces of cucumber and some shredded carrots…6 something dollars? Way overpriced and not to mention terrible quality. A head of iceberg lettuce goes for $ 1 in most supermarkets. If you want to charge this much for a house salad, use some real, nutritional lettuce and make sure the fixings are substantial. –Parking: I know there’s nothing they can do about this but parking usually sucks… there’s a TD Bank right next store but you cant use their allotted spots. I will continue to come back because the most important part(the food) is usually good. BTW, today I had a bacon grilled cheese and it was perfect. Bacon was nice and crunchy just like I ordered.

A long time staple of Ramapo College students, the State Line is your typical North Jersey diner: fading booths, a lengthy menu, and food that’s ‘alright’ on its best days. I popped in for an early dinner on New Year’s Day following a hike at the Ramapo Reservation. Not really in the mood for a burger(the Cajun was a favourite back in the day), I went for spinach pie. The accompanying Greek salad was big and reasonably fresh, though the dressing was almost pure vinegar with the feta chalky and tasteless. The spinach pie itself was horrendous: a calzone shaped brick of scorched filo dough with a bare portion of limp spinach and a few pieces of cheese. The spinach and cheese had some texture issues, but were pretty tasty. Unfortunately, the rest of the dish was inedible. Either the place has taken a nose dive in quality since my college days or it was simply the best option for cash-strapped college kids who wanted something fancier than McDonalds.
