For the longest time I thought Kappy’s was that car wash I drive by twice a day during my commute. You know how commuting can be, you’re tired both ways and annoyed with Orlando traffic so you spend most of the time focusing on why the cars in front of you aren’t moving and not on the seriously fantastic restaurants and businesses you pass daily. Thankfully, I’ve learned the errors of my ways because Kappy’s is, in fact, not a car wash. It’s actually great. Or at least the chicken and ranch sub I had was. It was a busy day so there was a slight wait but the sandwich was well-​made and tasted fresh. I also really liked their fries. I wouldn’t say it’s the BEST food I’ve ever eaten but I’d certainly stop-​in again.

Should be named Crappy Subs. The sub was awful and the service was equally bad. The staff seemed to have little to no pride in the service or the awful subs that were dished out to guest. Perhaps this sandwich shop was once a good or solid place to eat but not anymore. Looking for a good Sub sandwich I recommend Jersey Mike just down Maitland BLVD

I lost my appetite as I waited a long time waiting and watching the male sub maker using NO GLOVES as he was preparing another person’s sub, so I left. This really grosed me out, so I won’t be visiting back there any time soon. It’s not that hard for the manager to provide gloves, for food handlers, like Subway does and Firehouse. So if you want fingers touching your food, this may be good for you, otherwise go somewhere else.

Kappy’s is a great casual place — could be features on Diner, Drives and Dives. Limited seating, but fantastic old school dive. If you want a cheeseburger, cheesesteak or fires, this is your place.

Such a disappointment. The service was very very slow. Took about 15 minutes for a couple of hot dogs and fries. The workers weren’t very friendly either. The food was nothing great. If the service wasn’t so bad I would go back to try other items off their menu but I won’t.

Quality varies depending on who is cooking that day, have had some great cheese steaks and burgers and have had some sub-​par food too. It’s a bit over priced for my liking. Being a Philly native I expect a lot for what I am paying for And sometimes they fall short.

Had the Philly Cheesesteak w mushrooms and banana peppers. Friendly staff, fun to eat outside. The sandwich was lacking meat and cheese and had average bread. Wanted to like this place, but probably won’t return.

Kappy’s isn’t a place you go to for great service, or great food — it’s a place you go to for the experience.
Exhibit A: When you order coffee, they make it out of a Keurig.
I’ve been here a few times because it always seems like a great idea in my head — and every time I’m internally sighing because I’m disappointed. Their cheesesteaks are decent, but nothing else on the menu is even worth getting.
Service is very hit or miss — sometimes it’s phenomenal, most of the time you’re forgotten about. And that’s fine — I never come here expecting anything amazing.

Nice roadside dive. Really strong burgers and cheese steaks. Breakfast is great as well. Meat portions are of average size. Only thing holding them back is the price. two people getting burgers and drinks with no sides will still be close to twenty bucks. Sort of high for the amount of food you get and the type of place it is.

I love me some Kappy! I make it a point to stop if I am driving by while working! Get me a steak sammich some fries and I’m out! This place has been here forever. I call this comfort food, it fills my belly and damn that makes me comfortable!

Hubby wanted hot dogs and I wanted a cheesesteak Sammy. I got mushrooms and bell pepper on my cheese steak… canned mushrooms. That’s all I have to say about that. The dogs were okay but the chili on them was similar to The Varsity in the ATL. Go to Publix and get you a Philly Cheese there… its much better. I might give this place one more try then they are on my list…

This place hasn’t changed since the 70’s. Love places like this. Steak and cheese is one of the best in town. They could be featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. They would be considered a dive. Dive right into their yummy, grassy food.

I love a good dive and man is this ever. Super friendly service, awesome high-​calorie grub, all served up in a building that couldn’t pass a code inspection in a million years. Perfect!

I ordered a cheesesteak and after every few bites I had to spit out a huge piece of fat. The roll was not good and provolone cheese was a mistake. The ice cream used to make the milkshake we ordered was freezerburnt. VERY dirty establishment with unfriendly staff. I would never go back.

Kappy’s is a dive, yes, but they know how to serve up diner food. The bacon cheeseburger I had was topped with the innards of a Philly cheesesteak. It was delicious and a steal for $ 8. I see a lot of people ragging on Kappy’s for being expensive but every burger worth eating in Orlando (that I can think of) sells for much more than that. Pro-​tip for dining in: if you check in on FB and show them, they give you a free soft drink. I can’t wait to go back and try something else from the burger menu.

The first stop coming back to Maitland, Fla. It’s been here forever. This needs to be on Diners, Drives and Dives. Only 8 stools inside and pic tables outside. They are know for their cheese steaks. I have mine with peppers and mushrooms.
Keep your expectations low. This is a DIVE but the best cheese steaks south of philly

I know this place is a landmark and have been around since the days of Moses. I think he was the last guy to clean this place. It is disgustingly dirty and can’t believe the Health Dept have not taken their license away. How can anyone totally mess up a chili dog??? All of that nonsense AND overpriced. We will NEVER go back.
