Very close to the real deal here folks. I asked the guy and he confirmed that he makes his own pastrami. And he’s not shy with it. Definitely a NY transplant, bringin a little bit of that fresh deli taste here to Maitland. He’s got some yummy sandwiches and and some good looking dogs. Prices are astoundingly fair and you get your money’s worth. Cash only. Come check him out, he’s in the parking lot of the plaza on 17 – 92 and Lake Ave. You know the place, Copper Rocket is in there.

Steps away from Eatonville is a little piece of New York. I love the hot dogs and Italian sausages here, they are really tasty! It’s authentic to me. I have yet to try anything else, I’m a simple lady. But I will soon since I’ve read these other great reviews. Cash only!

«Real NY Style All the Way» Topos is in the middle of the parking lot at the 17−92/Lake Avenue intersection in Maitland, in an old Fotomat. Anyone remember Fotomat? Topos features hot«dogz» with plenty of toppings to choose from, including sauerkraut, chili, pastrami and cheese. I had a Doubledog, two dogs on a sub roll, with sauerkraut, relish and deli mustard. Also on the menu is a pastrami on rye with cole slaw and deli pickle, or Italian sausage with your choice of toppings. Regular fries or sweet potatoes fries round out the menu. Hot Dogz served with a little New York Attytood! Cash only.

Closed at 5pm-sharp. The other couple that pulled up to Topo’s stand was sad to discover this as well. No matter, I have to travel through this area often enough. When I returned, I also had the nontraditional Reuben, but it was TASTY. Huge sandwich on thick rye with sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard. Came with a small cup of freshly made, simply dressed cole slaw. Ordered the sweet potato fries separately(cause you have no other choice). They were crinkle cut, tender, crispy and everything I want in a sweet potato fry. Cash only-for reals(and make sure you leave a tip in the cigar cask cause this dude deserves it).

I had the Reuben, it wasn’t made exactly as I expected but that is ok. I usually eat them at Toojays and they grill the bread kinda like a grilled cheese. Topo(the owner sandwich artist) just makes em with fresh rye bread. The meat was good, he doesn’t put cheese on it which seems odd to me too, but I asked for some and he put some shredded cheese on it which seemed odd. He basically makes the sandwich however you want it so if you expect something then just tell him. He puts the meat on the bread and then shows it to you and says, what do you want on top of it? He did that to me and someone else. I also had the Sweet Potato Fries, those were thick cut and I liked em. This location is right in front of Copper Rocket and seems to be a new take out stand every year or so, before this it was Mike’s Catfish Shack. Go support a new locally owned business. CASHONLY!

This business is located in a little building in the middle of a parking lot at the corner of 17 – 92 and Lake Ave. There’s a walk up window for ordering and they have a few picnic tables set up where you can sit right down to eat. As the name implies the menu is very limited: You can get Hot Dogs, Pastrami or Italian sausage and seasoned regular or sweet potato fries. You order the meat first and then tell him what toppings you want at no extra cost. With a focus on so few items, one would hope that they excel at what they do offer and it appears that in this case, they do. I ordered the Pastrami on Rye with kraut and deli mustard and a side of sweet potato fries. They prominently display that their pastrami & hot dogs are from National Deli and when I asked the man who was serving up my sandwich about the brand(I’m assuming he is the owner) he told me that it is the same kind served at TooJays but that he buys a better cut than they do. My sandwich came out piled to overflowing with hot pastrami. It also came with a pickle spear and a small cup of coleslaw. The rye bread was so fresh and soft that it had trouble holding up to the onslaught of meat and juices but I really didn’t mind that. However, I did hear a man at the next table over complain that his sandwich fell apart. The meat was very flavorful and tender but I have to say that my one disappointment was that it was very salty — and I love salt. Now if this is the same supplier that they use at TooJays then I have eaten a good amount of their pastrami because once Amira’s closed I started buying my pastrami by the pound from TooJays and I have never had a problem with it being too salty. So I am willing to consider that this perhaps is an aberration where one cut of meat came in having been brined too heavily. But I will reserve a fourth star until I have a chance to go back another time and try out this theory. The fries were hot and crisp and plentiful. The coleslaw was basic and the pickle had the fresh bright cucumber flavor of a new style kosher dill. I was pleased to see a steady line of folks arriving to take away lunch orders. This is the type of place I root for to succeed. My favorite pastrami spot of all is still Pastavino’s in Apopka where the owner Don(who used to work at the old Ronnie’s) bakes his rye bread and cures his own pastrami in house. But if you are jonesing for a pastrami on rye and can’t make it out to Pastavino’s on Rock Springs Rd — I would definitely give Hot Dogz n Pastrami a try.
