Lovely spot for lunch in Makawao, tucked into an alley where a friendly rooster oversees a flock of hens who always seem to be leading some baby chicks around. The sandwiches and salads are lovely and just the right size — not too big, not too small. Grab an open table, and a server will be out to take your order right away, no need to stand at the counter unless you’re taking your order to go.

Well worth the hunt this hidden gem has great food at reasonable prices (for Hawaii) The crab and avocado sandwich was delicious with a side Cesar salad included. My wife had the Asian chicken salad and it was very flavorful. The service was maybe a little slow but once you shift to island time you won’t notice. As for the chickens someone else mentioned don’t feed them and they will leave you alone and they add to the ambiance. If you are following you’re maps program and it says tout are there but you don’t see it just look down between two stores as it sits just off the street.

A friend of mine introduced me to this lovely hidden gem. We went for a working lunch. It was a great choice.
You have to look down the alley, you’ll see green umbrellas on a patio. That’s it. They recently added an open air room, that’s covered which makes it an option rain or shine.
They have a nice menu with reasonable prices. There’s salads, sandwiches, and smoothies. We both had salads: the asian chicken and the quinoa goat cheese. We enjoyed the salads, both had fresh ingredients. The taste was great too.
Overall, I’d say this is a great option if you’re looking for a fresh, affordable lunch in the area.

perfect & quaint lunch spot on a sunny makawao day. the food is good, though sometimes the salads are over dressed (ask for dressing on the side). I have been going here for years, they are great. My only wish is that they didn’t serve on paper products, but you can’t avoid that working out of the tiny kitchen they have.

We had the catch of the day, turkey avocado, and crab avocado sandwiches. All three were superb! The mango and passionfruit smoothie was super fresh and tasty as well. Definitely recommend for a stop in upcountry

Nice & fresh. If you walk too fast along the main street, you’ll miss this small tucked away place between two buildings. I had the crab & avocado sandwich, vegetable soup of the day, and honey lemonade. Recommend the crab & avocado… real crab inside, not imitation.

Had the lemonade, eggplant sandwich, vegetable soup, and quinoa salad. They were all excellent. I especially liked the lemonade, which has a very unique taste.
I gave this place a 4 and my wife gives it a 5 stars. So of course, I have to go with what she says.
Not sure why more people don’t write about this place. Maybe they want to keep it a secret?

We tried the crab and avocado sandwich with Caesar salad. Real crab and delicious and hearty enough for 2 women to share! I also tried the Thai coconut soup, a little spicy with lots of broccoli, carrots, onions and water chestnuts. Delicious! An affordable find in Makawao! Try the fresh lemonade with honey-​refreshing and light. Woo hoo!

Loved the crab and avocado sandwich and the Caesar salad. Lovely setting with the baby chicks!

A hole in the wall. Walked into the garden with plenty of chickens and roosters walking around. This little gem is operated by a local family. Less than 10 tables.
It was a little long of a wait for the food.
We ordered the catch of the day sandwich and it came with a side Caesar salad. Perfect for a light lunch.

Great food, better service with competitive pricing. Can’t go wrong. I ordered the catch of the day with mahimahi as the catch, definitely worth the stop if you are around the area

Great little place to eat with healthy tasty food. I dont think you could find anything on the menu that you wouldn’t like. I had a turkey sandwhich and salad .my daughter had a fish sandwhich. Pride of quality food and service here! Wish they weren’t closed on Mondays. Would have loved to eat there again today.

Let me start by saying, today was the first time I’ve had the pleasure of going to this upcountry gem.
It was such an amazing experience I had to download the app, start up an account, and write this.
I started with the special soup of the day: Coconut Thai.
Just a cup was a good amount, but I would definitely recommend the bowl, as you will want more for sure. It was the most fantastic taste I’ve ever had! It can honestly not be conveyed using our limited language through this website. It was rich, yet lite, with a creamy almost cheese flavored broth, with a coconut milk base. If you love taste, you will love this!
I ordered the Snow Crab Avocado Sandwich for my meal.
I’ll just say, there should be a secret society, or some sort of underground religion, where people who love toasted breads, a good house made focaccia, or a buttery ciabatta, can leave each other hidden symbols on restaurants. I would leave that mark on this fine building. Since that doesn’t exist, Unilocal seemed a realistic alternative. This bread made me reconsider the direction of my life. It was toasted perfectly, edges more toasted, but in the good way. The snow crab filling was perfectly seasoned, avo fresh, and was accompanied by a delightful Caesar salad.
I would suggest this place to everyone. Service was amazing as well. I’ll be going back here on the regular, and I’m stoked to see what else they make!

Service is extremely SLOW! It took ½ hour to even take our order and the restuarant want busy. They are out of many menu items. I will not return.

This place is awesome! The service was a little slow but the food was worth the wait! I had the crab and avocado sandwich and my husband had the Brie and bacon sandwich, both we’re mouthwatering!!! I almost ordered the half but I’m glad I didn’t, it wouldn’t have been enough. Caesar salad was mediocre but it comes with it. Skip the Arnold Palmer if you like yours strong. Overall, a great lunch, five stars!

This is the town where we went for our horseback riding reservation for the day and we had our little lunch there before horseback riding.
This Café is located to the side street hidden away from the main thoroughfare. It’s quaint and friendly. The price is a little high but the sandwiches were fresh and tasty. I was impressed by the tastiness of the sandwiches.

So good! ½ sand brie bacon. Mmmmmmmmmm
