Windward air Conditioning Inc. installed our central air conditioning units. They are one of the most professional companies that I have dealt with on Maui! I have lived here for 35 years and did not know what to expect. Greg Capobianco runs his company like a well oiled machine! We are thrilled with the service and follow up! DONOTUSE. THESEGUYARESCAMMERS. We rarely use our air conditioning but it is nice to have on humid days. This year we turned on our unit and it would not turn on at all… I called WINDWARDAIRCONDITIONING because five years ago they installed a split air conditioning system in our home. I have never had to service the unit. It has been working perfectly every summer… until now. I called three times and they finally called back. I waited 10 days for them to come out. The technician arrived, asked what the problem was and said, without testing anything on the system, we had to replace all five of the circuit boards and the EEVVALVE. He said it was going to be expensive… probably about $ 1500. He removed the cover and found several dead geckos inside and said they«fried the circuit boards» and the unit would«never work». While he was making this bold statement and without ever testing the circuit boards, the unit suddenly started working! It was working when he left but he insisted if it did not work again all circuit boards needed to be replaced. He NEVERTESTED the boards. The next day the unit came on but would not get cold. According to their invoice, the labor is «guaranteed for 30 days». I called the office and asked to speak to the owner. Instead the«owners wife» called me back and she quoted a repair of around $ 1500.00. I asked her about the«30 days guaranty on labor» and she said they«would not honor it.». She offered no helpful solution and just did not seem to care. I called another company and told them exactly what went on. I was transferred to a «technician». He asked me if they used any testing equipment on the circuit boards and I said«NO». He said if the unit came on, got cold and was working then the boards should be OK. And he said if it were him he would have replaced the valve first as this is a «common repair problem on these units». He also said that all five boards would never go out all at once on a five year old unit. He came out that morning… replaced the valve, and the unit is working perfectly. That was three days ago and it is still working … I spent $ 400 instead of $ 1500! The second company, for whom I am going to write a glowing review, used testing equipment and he tested each and every board for efficiency. He showed me the readings and he showed me the stats in the FUJITSU book and confirmed that all five boards were working properly. Interestingly enough, I had sent an email to WINDWARDAIRCONDITIONING and I had asked them to try to replace just the valve(a $ 100 part) first before going to the expense of replacing circuit boards ($ 800 plus freight plus labor). They have never answered my email… The other thing that really got me is when then sent me the quote, they wanted to charge $ 150 in «freight» from HONOLULU… They are either incompetent or scammers… but in either case BEWARE!
