I don’t know why Unilocal doesn’t beleive me that this place is closed for good but this is your unofficial warning since they won’t update what I reported. CLOSED. FOREVER. MOVEALONG.

Pretty sure this place is closed. We were going to go there today to play Keno but I drove by and all the signs in the windows were off. I called the number Unilocal provided and it was out of service. But we did go there once last year and it was decent, so there’s that.

They stopped serving pizza. The food went down the crapper. I witnessed them dealing illegal DVDs. They get all racist up on people. Eff this place.

The meal starts off with nice fresh rolls and side salads with fresh and crispy lettuce. When I go here, I always get the steak tip dinner which is so good. I also ordered a sweet potato and the size of the potato was so big that it took up more than half my plate. The best part of the meal for me was the fact that I got to take home half of my meal for a lunch or dinner. My boyfriend ordered the ultimate surf and turf with baked scallops and haddock and steak tips with a order of french fries for only $ 18.95. The price for both our dinners and sodas cost a little over thirty dollars which is amazing as to the amount of food you get. The service was also very great with refilling drinks and clearing plates when you are done.

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last Friday night. He has lived in the area for years but hadn’t been there in a long time and I had never been. It was a rainy night and there weren’t many people in the restaurant at 7:30 on a Friday. I didn’t really check out the bar but it’s fairly small but people said hello. We were sat right away and ordered our drinks. It definitely is a place for locals, which I’ve grown to like. Their beer menu is pretty lame but I am a big fan of the whole craft beer craze, so probably a bit of a snob. There were about 3 tables with people at them and it was definitely interesting to have«townies» talking across 3 tables to each other. It didn’t bother me but I could see it bothering other people. The place was really lit up, to the point that we made a comment to our server when we were leaving. She said they get a lot of older people, so they keep it well lit but she did joke that she would dim them especially for us next time. She was prompt with service and was friendly, so that was great. The food was very good and the servings were enormous. It is primarily Italian food here but I ordered the haddock, shrimp and scallop dish with the most gi-normous sweet potato I’ve ever seen. Honestly, that alone would fill me for two meals. My boyfriend got the mixed grill(also with the huge potato), which was sausage, chicken and steak tips(3 of each). The sausage was a bit dry but flavorful and the chicken and steak were very good. We had a lot for leftovers the next day. We were both pleasantly surprised and the size of the portions and an affordable rate and the service. Dimmer lights would help this place feel less like a cafeteria but I can deal with that. We will definitely be going back there soon!

I’ve never been to the SalemWood, but they DID do the catering for a function I was at last night. The food was very, very good, although I didn’t try everything. The shrimp scampi was excellent, LOTS of garlic(just a touch heavy on the oil, though). Chicken parm was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, and the pasta has a fantastic sauce. The chicken wings are RIDICULOUS, they are fall-off-the-bone tender, but the real awsomeness is in the sauce as it penetrates down to the bone. I could eat them till I die… Stuffed shells are huge, nice cheese blend, and there was a little crispyness to the pasta that reminded me of home. Didn’t get to try the meatballs and sausage, as they vaporized before I even got a chance. Seems people already knew to get those first! Will have to make the trip there, now that I know…

Solid 4 star. Got the lamb/steak tip combo. The steak tips were dynamite and the lamb tasty if a little gristly in spots(typical for lamb). The server was great. The atmosphere, well, there is none. It looks like someone just paneled over whatever was there before but it was clean and tidy. My best comparison might be a Malden version of the New Bridge.

I went to Salemwood with a friend on Wednesday for dinner(literally left a short time ago). Regardless, I never before wrote reviews of places, but my experience here forced me to do so. First, this is definitely a small dive type place. However, divy type neighborhood places can be tons of fun… so figured it was worth a try. I also heard a couple good things about the food. The food I would give closer to a 4(in fact the only reason this place gets a 1 now is for the food). I had chicken parmesan and ravioli, which was good(not amazing, but good). My friend had chicken parmesan with pasta and thought the pasta was overcooked and a little mushy. However, the portion sizes are huge and worth the price. Anyway, the service was terrible— I mean terrible. When I walked in, I got a look as if I was bothering the waitress by entering the restaurant. When my friend joined me things did not improve. To get anything it took forever. The waitress never came by to ask if we needed anything and was not interested in serving us at all. A very bothersome and dismissive attitude continued the entire time. At one point my friend asked her for another beer(he had been waiting for a while) and she walked right by him without any acknowledgment. She went to the next table(which I believe either were friends and/or otherwise known to her) and my friend’s face was priceless. I couldn’t help but laugh. A short time afterwards so she leaned over from the other table and said«I heard him order. I’m not stupid.» Certainly it would have been nice if she made any sort of acknowledgment whatsoever… Also,(despite her attitude and statements) I attempted to explain I was laughing at my friend’s face(not really her) since she did not acknowledge him ATALL(not even a nod or eye contact)…and she again just walked away. Later she made a sarcastic comment about being all set with drinks. I was, and remain completely appalled. I used to be a waiter and often eat in restaurants(sometimes several times a week) and I have NEVER experienced such uninterested, uninviting, and insulting service. Also – while we were there another table got up and left(a short while after sitting down) and they appeared to be complaining about the service and attitude as well.

I absolutely love Salemwood. It is my family’s favorite restaurant. Don’t expect anything fancy — it is pretty much a dive — but the service is friendly and the food is outstanding! It is all fresh and made to order, so much so that they stagger taking the orders so that the kitchen doesn’t get overwhelmed. Get the chicken marsala — it is the BEST I have ever had, and that is what I get practically everywhere I go. But beware that they often run out of marsala wine because the dish is so popular! There is literally a pound of pasta(homemade if you ask for it) and another pound of chicken on the plate. Enough to stuff yourself silly, and then bring home the leftovers and stuf yourself silly again the next day. All for a little over $ 10 with hot rolls and a salad. You CAN’T BEATIT! The drinks are cheap, and strong. It is not romantic or anything, and it can get loud, but if you want good food at amazing prices, this is the place to go!

I happened by this whole in a wall one Thursday night. Ok, If I could give two different ratings I would. 4 – 5 * for food a 2* for service. I have never seen a more incompetetant wait/bartending hostessing staff than i have at this place. Awful, they really act like you are bothering them when you ask for anything at all. Very small kitchen, so they dont do takeout, and if your already seated, they wont take your order until the kitchen is finished making the obnoxious party of tens dinner. Food– Pretty much anything you get is great and plenty for a doggy bag.
