Be sure to call and schedule a visit to this special place. This is the heart of the Wishtoyo nonprofit that is doing so much great work throughout our community. Few places are as special as this sacred land, and our community should really support the village here. It makes this area something more — adding depth and meaning to our time.

In my three decades of being alive I’ve come to realize that there are very few places on Earth that come remotely close to places like this. A hub of the Wishtoyo Chumash community, this village is like a beautiful time capsule of native California. The only thing that surpasses the physical beauty of the Pacific vista, night skies, authentic structures or landscape, is the emotional beauty of how welcoming and loving the people who make up this community are. Special public events once in awhile otherwise contact them to set up a special time to visit. Either passing through or looking for an adventure out of Greater LA, make sure to visit this«home for all of humanity».

Visiting here is an outstanding, one of a kind experience. Mati is such an amazing spirit. The work he has done on the reservation is astonishing, an 8000 year old spiritual land, complete with authentic — well, can I call them teepees? with whalebone entryways, some sort of willow wall, a hole in the roof to see the stars and firepit. There is a complete village. He is the real deal, Chumash Chieftain. We had a little ceremony with history, singing, sage, fire and the ocean. Very beautiful, genuine and spiritually grounding experience. How wonderful that they open their doors to children and schools, Mati and his wife are active in outreach programs and bringing children to learn about kindness and culture. This is the only local Chumash Foundation that I am aware of that is active legally in creating and maintaining sustainable food sources and land. They are guardians of Chumash lands to the highest degree. Wonderful experience for groups, field trips and schools. Call to schedule visits.
