Cute little store, fairly good selection considering the size of the place. We went for water which they had, and we ended up getting ice cream. Pretty much what you’d expect for a camp store… toys, drinks, junk food, and post cards.

Good thing I found the Unilocal account for this place. I was about to give the campground it self a 1 Star rating. It saddens me that because of the owner of the beach store, or some one related to the store that I may never come back to Leo Carrillo State Park. I’ve read all three reviews here with mixed reviews and one thing is for sure, without a shadow of a doubt. Leo Carrillo Beach store PRICEGOUGES. $ 16 for a 6 pack of Blue Moon? It’s like this one time in 2009 during my first visit to NYC. I forgot my tripod. Needed one. A store in Time Square charged me $ 99 for the same make and model I own that I bought a few months back for $ 40. But I get it, «Oh you need this? I have it. For this price». And William A.( Unilocal reviewer) wasn’t kidding about the rudeness from the staff inside the Beach store. I’ve seen(the guy whom I’m going to call out in a moment) a staff member yell at another staff member dick-ishly in a belittling manner. I think it was his son if I’m not mistaken. He’s kind of like Sig Hansen from Deadliest Catch. Can be cool but will bite your head off if you give him the chance. All cons aside, after doing some reminiscing from previous times I’ve camped at Leo Carrillo. The driver of a White Toyota Tacoma extra cab(years 2004 – 2010) is the guy. This is the guy who made me take my business elsewhere. I’ve seen his truck outside the Beach store before and on the weekend of 4÷25÷15, I saw his truck drive towards the Ranger station. Drove back towards the store a few minutes later, stopped his truck in front of my site(9&11) and started yelling and accusing us of the following 1) We were legendary in our loudness the night before. 2) One of our camp mates passed out in the wrong camp site 3) Our camp received 3. I said THREE visits from the Rangers to lower our voices 4) Playing very loud music from a vehicle with a sound system @ 1:30 am. His tirade happened not only happen in front of most of our camp mates, but in front of a 8 year old kid? No bueno bro. I mean, it was like listening to a grown up Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times accuse us of things that we didn’t do. In our defense, we were loud. What I meant to say is, my camp mates were loud. I was fast asleep when the ruckus happened. Playing drinking games like«Thumper» at midnight. Yeah that was us. 2 dudes serenading each other in the restrooms in the wee hours the night? Yeah that was us. Setting off car alarms because one of our camp mates decided it was best to sleep in his car? Yeah that was us too. But did any one ask us to keep it down? Nope. Did we see ANY Rangers make their way to our site? Nope, not once. If you camp next to a loud group, just come over and let them know that they’re loud. Car audio playing loudly at 1 am. Eminem to be exact(I know because it woke me up and I know his catalog). That wasn’t us. He also mentioned that he spoke with other visitors who may have mentioned it was loud last night, but didn’t have a shred of proof it was us, and just assumed it was us because were were the biggest group there. It was a combination of other loud sites. His complaint to the Rangers in the morning set off a multitude of issues saturday day. We had 2 visits from Rangers. An older gentleman who said bluntly we’re «now on the radar» and have the option to evict us. As long as we’re quiet. A second visit during the evening was from a younger Ranger who was super cool. Very nice. Gave us the option to go on the beach and be as loud as we want as late as we want. Stated the rules and we were on the same page. Did you know they can ticket you $ 375 and evict you? Crazy right? Anyway our camp was expecting a few more people on Saturday and when they arrived, they informed them they were not allowed in because our site was on «High Alert». Really? I know we were kinda loud but I didn’t know we were put on Double Secret Probation. At $ 49 per night, you;re letting them in. And they did. Good thing she pulled the Preggers card. And to top things off, we had a drone hover over our site. for more than 3 minutes. Coincidence? Was it the store owner or was it the Rangers? It can’t be the Rangers because the State of CA can’t afford such luxury items for their employees. So it’s got to be the store owner. But I get it. The store has been there for decades probably. It’s like a small town with the towns oldest resident, who is in cahootz with the Sheriff and will believe whatever they say. We made it out alive. But a few things to remember before you camp at Leo Carrillo. Bring everything you need with you and DON’T SUPPORTLEOCARRILLOBEACHSTORE. Don’t worry, it’s privately owned and you’re not hurting the state. If you forget something, just drive down PCH to the store and buy it from a market. What’s not to like about driving down PCH? You may have tried to ruin my weekend. But my 1 star review is forever… «BRO»

We were there this weekend and went into the store several times and a number of different clerks were rude. One was watching the world cup USA game and we asked the score and he said«I don’t know why I turn this on. everyone pesters me». A 8 year old boy in our party went in to buy ice cream and the clerk yelled at him and frightened him outside. One member of our party had a large stack of stuff to buy and the clerk told he to MOVE. I bought firewood and asked which stack to use and the clerk was rude(there were about 3 different rude clerks) I wonder if the concession company knows abou tthis.

Great little store in a pinch! They have firewood, ice and a small selection of sundries and snacks. Think gas station convenience store: nothing fancy, but it will get you through. Outside is a cute little area with Adirondack chairs and umbrellas. Grab a seat and enjoy your lunch! Despite the description up top, they DO accept credit and debit cards, but there is a $ 1 charge to use it. Another important thing to know: the store’s hours are only from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Sunday. If you’re planning to stay in Leo Carrillo outside of those days, don’t count on this store to supply you with firewood or ice! If the store is closed, drive south on PCH for about 15 minutes and there will be some gas stations, etc.

I love this little store. When I was younger I used to come to the Leo Carrillo Campground and camp for 10 days during the summer with my family and one of the highlights of camping was coming down to the beach store and getting a snack to eat. This little store is situated right in the middle of the campground and is incredibly convenient and they have everything you could ever need while camping. I haven’t been camping at Leo Carrillo in a couple of years but I do still come to get something to drink or eat here whenever I visit the beach for the day. Coming here is always pleasant, the owner Tony is a great guy and he is always a pleasure to talk to. He also has three dogs Cosmo, Murphy, and Vinnie that always walk around inside and outside of the store and they are the nicest and most docile dogs ever. The only complaint I have about this place is the prices, they are astronomical, but I don’t really have too much of a problem with that because it is the only store near the campground unless you want to drive 20 minutes to go somewhere else. So in my opinion, you are paying for the convenience and you are supporting a local family owned business which is always great. So if you are spending the day at the beach or if you are camping, be sure to stop in and say hi to Tony and the dogs for me!
