The service was great. We came for the lamb chops and Chilean sea bass, both of which were no longer on the menu. I had the chicken Wiener schnitzel and it was a bit bland as well as lacking creativity for an upscale restaurant.

Was looking for a place to go after a good hike and stumbled across this place. The food is amazing and the service was great ! I ordered a egg white omelette with potatoes on the side. It was amazing! Very welcoming staff and attentive as well. Whenever I’m back in the area I’ll be returning !

Came here for breakfast on a weekend. I made reservations, but we were one of the few people there, so clearly not necessary at 10 am. I tried the Breakfast Burrito and the Egg Sandwich. The burrito was one of the most disappointing and bland breakfast burritos I’ve had in a long time. It felt like they put it on the menu just because it’s on a lot of breakfast menus, but didn’t really know what to do with it. The egg sandwich(which is open faced), was a different story. It’s unique, well-balanced, and delicious. I will note that it is weird that it proudly touts its«vegan» aioli while coming with both eggs and bacon. But, whatever. Definitely not worth driving all the way to Malibu for this, but if you’re already in the area, and are choosy about what you get, it could be the right option.

Went here for lunch and it was amazing. The waiter was very friendly and the service was super quick! The prices were a little high, ~$ 15 for a panini, but I thought it was worth it. The portion was very filling and it tasted great. I added chicken to the caprese panini and got sweet potato fries on the side — I would definitely recommend it! The café mocha was delicious as well! If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll be sure to come back here for lunch!

I’ve always quite enjoyed Plate. It’s good quality, a relaxing setting with an ocean view, and a healthy menu. Also love the pita bread and edamame that comes as your starter instead of bread. My friends and I always start with the iced tea. Try the yummy Raspberry Nectar! It’s very refreshing! My favorite dish on their menu is the Mediterranean Salad with chicken. It’s always fresh and light, so it’s great for a lunch meeting if you don’t want to risk falling asleep at 2pm. It’s huge, though, so be prepared to take half back in a to-go box. I’ve also tried the Ravioli, which was good, but not super filling. I’d recommend filling up on the delicious starter pita bread and edamame that comes with your dinner. I ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak on a night I was craving meat, and to be honest, I loved the mashed potatoes that came with it the most. I ordered the meat well done, and I probably should have said medium. I enjoy going back to Plate since there are always items on the menu I want to try! I’ll be back :)

I love this place! I’ve been here twice and both times it’s been great. Service is a tad slow because it’s usually a one man team but the food and area is great. I ordered the chicken omelet with whole wheat toast. It was good! The food here isn’t incredible but it is all organic and local so I highly support that. The fruit was great but I have to say prices are a little high. The omelette is pretty small for $ 15 but it is Malibu. Like I said, service is a little slow but this is a perfect spot for brunch. I love the small ocean view and lazy Sunday vibe

We ordered the Kobe beef Burger and the Santa Fe salad and a couple of peronis. It’s extremely hot in the dining area. No AC. They had two small desk fans running but it was definitely at least 80degrees in here which is sort of overwhelming at first until your body adjusts. The restroom is in a Separate building. Seemed like a public restroom which was strange and it was dirty. The parking lot is small. Upside the food was great and the view of the ocean and PCH is beautiful and staff is friendly and professional.

My husband and I recently had brunch here over Labor Day weekend. There was plenty of seating inside, with an OK view of the ocean right across the street. The waves were really high that day. We ordered: (1) Lox(salmon and eggs benedict over English muffin) — it was decent, what you would expect from a lox plate! (2) French toast — this was good; came with granola; couldn’t finish so had to take it home (3) Kobe burger — my husband ordered this and thought the meat quality was good; although not as good as some of the other burgers he’s had. He said it was decent though, and part of lunch menu(not brunch) The wait for our food took longer than expected, even though it didnt seem like they were that busy. However, all the items came out about the same time. Wait staff was friendly, and parking available in the strip mall area. Can get crowded!

Unilocaled a place for salads in the area and Plate popped up. Not a huge dining room area, but spacious enough and not overly crowded. I had the curry papaya salad, which had a mound of chicken salad on top. I felt that the chicken salad had too much of the creamy curry sauce and wished it had a little more chicken to balance it out. It made the salad a bit too heavy. The papaya definitely balanced out the curry chicken, and the raspberry dressing added an interesting flavor. The presentation of my dish and my friend’s were very aesthetically pleasing. I felt that the price was a little high for what was offered, but overall it was a pleasant dining experience.

Nice lunch option on PCH in Malibu for light & healthy American fare WITH a shared parking lot. RARE. That in itself might is worthy of a star as anyone that knows parking in Malibu for lunch when the weather is good is a sport unto itself. Plate shares a parking lot with Pacific Coast Greens and you’ll see they mark all the spaces for 2 hours. It was a very warm Summer Saturday in Malibu and we couldnt find any parking within a mile of the pier and my friend looked up other dining options on Unilocal and it lead us to Plate. It’s a nice space. The décor is nicer than those of a regular strip mall restaurant. But then again, this is Malibu. Our party of 3 was seated at a table by the window by a very nice hostess. She gave us the breakfast menu, juice menu and lunch menu. Ha! Menu overload… She was nice though. Our waiter approached us shortly for our drink orders and we just asked for Malibu’s finest tap. I opted for the turkey burger($ 16.50). I asked for mine without the red peppers and avocado on the side. It came with LT and a hummus dipping sauce for my side of shoestring fries. You also have an option to go with sweet potato fries, caesar salad, mixed greens or arugula salad. The sesame bun it comes with is good and soft but didnt fall apart. That’s always a plus. The turkey burger was a little bland. I had to keep basting on some ketchup as I made my way through it. The fries were very good. They were perfectly crunchy and seasoned. My other friends got the curry papaya salad($ 15.50) and another turkey burger respectively. Service was very good. Our waiter checked in on us often and made sure we were good. His customer service was excellent and he was a good sport. We left a little more than a 20% tip. Well deserved. I would try Plate again for breakfast and sample the other things on the menu. The southern flavors part of the menu sounds good as well. I will update my review then.

I was surprised at the lack of people in the restaurant on a Saturday at lunch. Maybe the beach crowds don’t know about it? The restaurant is in a small strip mall so(yeah!) there is parking available. The food was good although expensive. I had The Green Cooler(served at room temperature which is not my preference) and the Caprese Panini with a salad(both good). My husband had one of the Teas Over Ice(expensive but a very attractive presentation, and he really enjoyed the tea) and the stir fry(unremarkable).

I think they maybe paying some outside marketing group for the reviews. Look how well the 5 stars are with pictures highlighting the most positive parts. They also petitioned to have my review removed by claiming it was for the wrong business! These guys are very sly. I wouldn’t trust them one bit. If I have to revise again, I will share it with the 2060 Facebook friends fans I have. You don’t need a second try to know this place is for suckers. Too bad, I love to support local, vegan, local organic, non commercial farms. Not even sure if this place is legit about that/? My ICETEA: I don’t remember anytime in my life that ice tea cost $ 8.50… Even some from the tea house in Santa Monica. This thing was in a carafe and the tray took up too much space on the table for 4. Honestly, it tasted fine. Not one thing said to me that I should be drinking ice tea that costs anything over $ 2 – 4. If I wanted to try an exotic coffee or tea from some monkeys rear or something I’d make a special trip. This was not even anything special in a café off PCH. Not the stop you want to make for kids and family to eat before we hit the waves.(Did I rant enough about this?). OK. ________________ My plate, the FOOD: The food is Ok to less than OK. Really nothing special. I had the Garden burger. It kinda fell apart, but some do, and this was a tasty patty. $ 14 a small garden burger with side of greens. Ok, I’m in Malibu with flipflops in a café with painted tile ceilings and chalkboards as décor. I actually like the space. But this is no dining«experience», yet you pay for one, without the goods on the plate. This place needs to turn it down a few notches. The service is not comfortable either. They hustle and bustle with nothing coming out. I ordered a soup. A soup is pre made. You take a ladle, and you fill a bowl. 15+min, and the waiter knew its a finisher after the meal, as I really like soup, and the garden burger was small. Since the burger was pretty small with some greens. I wanted something else to feel a little full. So far a puck sides garden burger, which is based on greens and grains in what might have been a roll sized bun, then the small side«salad». I can easily have another, but I ordered a sensible veg soup as an end item. 15 minutes we’re still waiting for soup. the waiter was kind enough to get me a sample pretty quick, as he offered to taste it. It was salty. Before I put the order in, I asked if the other soup was less salty. He said its the same.(hmmm). A few things like this bothered me about the service, besides it speed. Kids had the Kobe burger for $ 19 Wife had the salad for $ 14 _____________________________________ SERVICE: The waiters lack the command of the floor and not serving in calm manner. I hate to feel as if I’m asking for favors or interrupting. You are much better off at the D’Amore pizza next door, or a sandwich from the grocery store. Your not coming in here for fine dining, and it sure aint the service or food. ______________________________ I support this concept of being a healthy alternative to eating out, but who cares for this sham?! There are plenty places that have alternate menu items that will do just as good as this place, with known organic ingredients etc. Its not like we are looking at the waves and seeing the ocean. You can get a 10 foot wide view of the ocean from about 40 yards out between the buildings. That equals to about 6″ or so inches if you extend your arm and hold your fingers out. Yes, nice large widows overlooking the street of nothing mostly. We should have gone to Nobu. I can understand if your rent is high. Unless you keep paying for your marketing company of 5 star reviews, with a 4 stars average, since there is so many tourists and turn around… It wouldent be lasting more than a couple years. Or you transform the place to something reasonable. If its not taking off by then, its just money in the ocean. So far it is the customers money and time thrown in the ocean. FYI, no WIFI

«Everything I could have asked for.» Those were the words of my picky-eater sis after we finished our brunch at Plate. We both ordered the create-your-own omelets with a side of fresh fruit and the crisp green juice. The omelet was made just how I like it: with the ingredients scrambled in before it’s cooked all the way through and folded over. The salsa(pico de gallo is all they had) we ordered separately helped give it a little moisture and a little kick. I was really tempted to order the breakfast potatoes as my side but went with fruit as a healthier option. The fruit slices were a bit on the scarce side, but the entire plate(omelet included) was a perfect size for a meal that I could finish without feeling too full. The fresh-squeezed juice was delicious and a generous size, albeit on the pricey side. I added ginger, but it cost me $ 2 extra. I think they could make the juice serving size smaller and it would still be sufficient but would allow them to reduce the price a bit. The restaurant is nice and modern with a lovely view of the ocean across the street. The staff was top notch, regularly checking in with us, filling water and clearing plates.

Simple menu but they’ve got character in this small restaurant. We’ve tried the Kobe Beef Burger and the Grilled Fish of the Day. They serve breakfast during lunch hours so my little one ordered the Chocolate Chip pancake. Definitely a place to stop by to eat light and healthy if you’re in Malibu area.

Came in here for breakfast. It has the look and feel of a healthy restaurant, but a reading of the menu distills differently which I am happy about. Décor feels retro, like a restaurant you would see in Mad Men. Ordered steak and eggs, not a bargain at 20.00. Steak a little tough, rest of the components of the meal were fine. Experience just not enough to give four stars, but was better than 3.

Very tasty lunch burrito. Reasonable pricing and tasty food with great service. The view is great with Malibu Beach across the street. Also took home one of the amazing deserts — the tiramisu — which was amazing.
