Friendly’ food is pretty decent. This is why they got at least one star. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t expecting the four seasons. The restaurant was dirty, old, and the service was horrendous. One quarter of the restaurant was filled when we sat down. It took an hour to get a tuna melt and chicken sandwich. The waitress was sweet but it took forever for her to get to our table to get the order and even longer to get the food.

You know, sometimes you just want a damn burger and ice cream, and you don’t want to think about it. I’ll say that I believe it’s actually impossible for this place to be any better than three stars for food. Overall, Friendly’s puts out quality that is in the lower end of chains. It’s why I maybe come to Friendly’s once every 4 or 5 years just to see what they’re doing lately. Seriously, I’d choose a Denny’s over a Friendly’s any day. Even their ice cream… I feel like I can do better at Dairy Queen down the street. My burger and ice cream were ok. I don’t feel like I left there eating anything memorable. I don’t feel like I ate anything bad either. I was happy with my service as the waitstaff were friendly to me at least.

I’ve been to Friendly’s numerous times for ice cream with my children. Once in awhile I would have lunch here by myself. I don’t expect Friendly’s to be excellent quality but their food is pretty good for what you pay for. The only negative thing I can say about this store is their employees. I’ve had the same lady the past few times. She’s pretty thin, and could be in her 40’s. She is rude and it is obvious that she is forced to be nice to customers. One time I came in with my children for ice cream, and without even saying hi or asking how many people do we have, she said«if you’re here for free dinner for kids, it’s over.» Oh my goodness I was so offended. I said excuse me? A hello would have been nice. She never fails to roll her eyes every time she walks away from her table. A few times, I saw her mumbling profanity to another employee about a table, and when the employee knew that I heard it, he just smiled at me. It’s very inappropriate to use language at a store full of children. One time we had appetizers there and we tried to order ice cream, but she said I don’t think we can serve that now because we closed every thing! It was 30 minutes before closing and it’s only ice cream. She knew I was getting irritated so she came with ice cream and said its on the house but don’t tell her manager because he will be mad. More like he will be mad because she didn’t want to serve us for dessert. Every time I go in there, I hope to not be serve by her. Employees make you feel unpleasant. Also the store is not clean and un sanitized. Will soon write a complaint to the district manager.

The Reverend Dr. Steak, the Young ‘Un and I headed here after a morning sporting event nearby. This Friendly’s spot is a little older, narrow, and the décor feels stuck in a previous decade. It was reasonably clean but feels just a bit dark and claustrophobic. This place is NOT good for groups larger than 3 or 4 as there are no booths large enough to fit y’all. They can remove a glass partition between 2 booths but you still have a half-wall separating the booths. It’s…strange. Now, the menu. It seems Friendly’s has ‘simplified’ their menu recently, as there were far fewer options it seemed than in the past. Very few ‘heart healthy’ or low calorie options — a ginger chicken that’s actually quite tasty(and consistently good across the chain — they have this down) and some salads are the offerings now. So the Rev. Dr. Steak had to go off — plan. The food is predictably chain-good, service was OK. My sole moment of amazement was when the Young ‘Un ordered a ‘Shirley Temple” drink. It came in a glass larger than mine. THISIS A DRINKFOR A CHILD, PEOPLE. It should NOT come in a glass larger than his head. Geez. Yet we wonder why our kids are waddling down the lane. It’s a little tricky to get into if you’re on the opposite side of the street from it. Basically, we made an elaborate series of turns to get there, thanks to a gazillion ‘no U turn” signs. Argh.

My husband and I just moved to malvern from Upstate ny. We have always loved friendly s and were excited see we have one so close to us in malvern! Sorry to say… I went tonight to pick up ice cream and it was HORRIBLE, so much so that we didn’t even eat it. He ordered a 3 scoop peanut butter cup sundae. It was freezer burned and had ice cubes in it. I ordered a Reese’s pieces friendZ, it was complete liquid and was granular. While I was waiting for the ice cream I realized how dirty it was, it looked and smelled like the inside of a McDonald’s. surprisingly… It was packed! There were people waiting to be seated! we won’t be back :(

It’s a clean restaurant. The food has definitely gotten better at Friendly’s. The pancakes are really good. I would like to see more healthy items on the menu though.

We were on a mission to find a place to eat that was not MTO(sorry Wawa, I wasn’t in the mood for ya). Friendly’s is not too far from my parents’ and was open til midnight on the weekends. Our waitress was really friendly and never at any point did she rush us, even though we were the only table there. We split an order of the loaded waffle fries. DELICIOUS! The fries were perfect and the cheese sauce on top wasn’t overkill, the bacon and sour cream were nice touches. Bf ordered the fishamajig sandwich. I had a bite of it and it was quite good. I had the grilled flounder, which was lightly breaded, had a good citrus flavor to it. For dessert, we split a strawberry fribble. Yum! Overall, I was quite impressed and thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
