The Caesar salad for 4 was fair & the filet mignon was like mush. The mashed potatoes that came with dinner was sparse. The dinner was very disappointing. I Will not be going back. A.L.

I am surprised to see bad reviews on here for the General Warren. I had my wedding here and everything was perfect. Patrick went above and beyond with making our day exactly how we wanted and the head house keeper even dove through the trash to find something my wife had lost. The food was excellent, the venue was beautiful, the service was stellar.

We choose to have our wedding ceremony and reception here and we are so pleased that we did! Here’s my take on the General Warren: Atmosphere: This is an old, historical building with a lot of charm and character. There are fireplaces in about dining location and the horseshoe-shaped bar is located in a central location with easy access from each room. Our wedding ceremony was held right in the main dining room which was decorated beautifully for the holiday season. We had hors d’oveurs downstairs on the terrace which was enclosed and provided a beautiful view of the outdoors for our guests. Our dinner was held in the North Room which was very quaint and romantic and it also overlooks the terrace and provides a beautiful view of the outdoors. The outside of the building also provides beautiful background options for photo ops too. Food: For hors d’oveurs we chose the mini crab cake, bacon wrapped scallops and a cheese and fruit tray. All of the options were great and as the food dwindled the staff just kept bringing more out! The Beef Wellington dinner– wow! I can speak to that since that is what I had and it is so, so good. We offered our guests other choices like crab cake, rack of lamb, sirloin steak, etc. and not one of our guests forgot to mention how delicious their meal was to us as they were leaving. The kids were offered buttered pasta, chicken tenders and french fries, etc. We also had them take care of our cake and Natalie, the Pastry Chef, did a great job! She gave us exactly what we wanted– carrot cake with cream cheese filling for the first tier and chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling for the bottom tier and an all-over buttercream vanilla icing; it was divine and very good! She asked that we bring by any cake decorations and send pictures of what we wanted and she captured our vision perfectly. Service: The manager, Tim, did a great job assisting us and helping us plan our ceremony and dinner. He made the whole process very easy and smooth. We had 32 people, including 6 kids and they had no problem providing a children’s menu for us. Both the wait staff and bar staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our whole evening. they did a fantastic job at making sure we had all that we needed at any given moment. Tim even took the liberty to book my husband and me a room and for the night after the wedding and we stayed in the Franklin Suite which was very cool and sweet room! Tim was kind enough to allow myself and my «bridal party» to check in early into the room which has two bathrooms and a sitting room so there was more than enough room for all of us to fit comfortably to get ready. Tim also took care of everything from the music for the ceremony and our first dance, to setting up the guestbook and cake tables, etc,; he was a blessing and we were so lucky to have the kind of top-notch treatment that we were provided by the entire staff! Thank you again to the the entire staff of the General Warren who made our special day the best day ever. And for those of you who are wondering if you should eat here or host an event here, you will NOT be disappointed.

Marisa & Dan’s rehearsal dinner was here. It was perfect for a rehearsal dinner. The service and staff were great. There was a prefix menu and it was good.

The General Warren Inne is a historical and adorable place. This was my second time coming here, first time was great from what I remember, as it was years ago. This time I was disappointed with the food. All of the meats we ordered were great, but the texture of the gnocchi was wrong and the grains weren’t cooked properly. The service was also really slow, over 40 minutes passed between soups/appetizers before our main dishes arrived. I would suggest going into the city if you’re looking to have a nice meal.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night with my husband and parents. Restaurant décor is very nice in an historic setting, but that’s about all I can say that is positive. Service was terrible — waited for an hour for the main course to arrive. Water glasses ran dry continuously and not a server to be found. Menu is extremely overpriced for the food quality.

We have always loved the Happy Hour bar at General Warren until they changed the menu. We went last night and found a very limited offering consisting mostly of vegetarian and shellfish dishes. No beef. I ended up ordering something from the dinner menu which still left me disappointed. We enjoyed the scene but won’t hurry back for the bar food. The bartenders, however, are still efficient and friendly. Go and have a drink but eat before you leave the house.

I have had a reception at the General Warren in twice now. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice, but they typically seem to be understaffed. In fact, when I was leaving, there were more people standing at the coat check-out counter waiting to assist me than there were assisting with the service of food and drinks throughout the evening.

Dinner on a Thursday night with two business partners, no reservation but welcomed as though we did. As we walked in we could smell a word fire w was warming on a cold winter night. Entered into the bar area authentic and very old. Cold draft selection very friendly bartender. Into the dining room we were seated in the front porch which we thought may be cool but was actually quite comfortable. Starter their famous ‘Snapper’ soup with a bottle of sherry on the side. Delicious! Warm fresh bread brought to the table immediately. I had the 14 oz bone in pork chop with risotto and kale(photo) and two other diners the pepper steak. We all enjoyed our meals immensely. Server was very friendly, professional and attentive. I will certainly return, hopefully to spend the night some time as well. Not too many of these beautiful old Inns left anymore.

Really old, historic place with some high-end cuisine. Got the Beef Wellington and it was awesome. Classic place for business meals.

The interior of this place is very cozy but roomy. It seems to cater mostly to the elderly crowd. I was here for company holiday lunch, so we had a room reserved for us in the back. They have a decent size bar as well. They had music playing in the background, not sure if this is regular or because it was during holidays only. We had a set lunch menu. It began with a salad that was somewhat refreshing but lacked salad dressing. My entrée was salmon with asparagus, nothing special, decently cooked salmon. For dessert, I had the mascarpone cheesecake, not too smooth. Overall, the food here is so so, not sure what the pricing is because I didn’t have to pay for it. I likely won’t come again for mediocre food.

The food is generally very good. Well prepared meals, but sort of boring menu which doesn’t seem to change often. If you are going for a classic dish, this is the place you want to come. The ambiance is very nice.

The table side Caesar salad for 2 is not to be missed. Totally steakhouse authentic! Daughter(6) had the small plate filet minon and devoured it – perfectly tender. Husband was disappointed with the size and lack of flavor in the grouper(on saffron rice with a citrus glaze) — the rice was under seasoned and not a hint of saffron and the grouper was barely a fillet — for the price we expected so much more. My beef Wellington came out as ordered except I had hoped for the crust to have been a little but more done(was soggy in spots). Nevertheless a giant portion and I could not finish it all. A must skip– shortrib tacos. Though described as Asian shortrib it was more like a tepid shortrib w Asianish BBQ sauce smeared atop it, sitting on a very cold piece of squash on a store bought tiny tortilla. Tortilla was not warmed either. Our server Maureen was great, personable and attentive. Next time I will save room for dessert stick w ordering the classic American and avoid the seafood and nouveau Asia inspired dishes.

Came here on a whim for dinner. Didnt have to wait too long and the service was very friendly. Valet parking in the front. Definitely an older(think 70s and up) in the dining room while the younger(50s) crowd stayed in the tavern. Aside from the wedding party, we were probably the only people in their 20’s in the place. The décor certainly catered to that crowd as well — it had older country cottage feel to it. Service was decent, if not a little pretentious because we were wearing jeans and casual clothes. Food was ok but not that impressive by my NYC standards. The veal shank was a little cold though the flavor was decent and the meat was tender. Pumpkin polenta was nice, though from my experience the polenta was ground a bit more coarsely than other versions I’ve had. My girlfriend had the Beef wellington, which was steep at $ 37. The filet in her dish wasn’t very tender and had more beef flavor than I expected from a filet — tasted kind of like a top sirloin or something. Her snapping turtle soup was pretty decent though and the flatbread appetizer we got was probably the best thing I had all night. Probably won’t return. Was certainly not terrible but definitely not worth the money

Pretentious hosts, drop ceiling décor, and tasteless tacos on store bought tortillas — make this low on my totem pole of places.

I went here with my boyfriend for his birthday. He always wanted to try beef wellington, as it is difficult to find it in Philadelphia. The drive to the restaurant was a little long and windy but we were at once happy we made the drive once we got to the place. The front look of the restaurant is very pretty, quaint and all lit up. We were seated near the window but asked to be seated in the foyer where there was more lighting and intimacy. The food was delicious. We each had the oysters, and then the bison short rib, and pan fried scallops to start. He had the beef wellington and I had the duck breast. Our dinner was accompanied with a bottle of wine, which I think makes more sense to order the bottle than to pay for each glass. While we were too full to order dessert, they made a mini dessert plate with raspberries and whip cream anyway so that he can have a candle and make a birthday wish. I think that extra little touch goes a long way. The service was good. If I lived closer to this restaurant, I would probably go more. All in all, I enjoyed my experience here.

They have been around longer than the war… Revolutionary War… since 1745 to be exact… and it felt very cool to be in such as historic place. Our home office Executive Assistant, Natalie, recommended this place to us five hungry Californians. We had a very productive, long day of meetings and now needed to eat and wind down. On a side note, I had sprained my ankle and was in a wheelchair, so I was hesitant to go out. Yet though my co workers were great pushing me around, once inside the GM pushed me to our table… how cool is that? Our wait person greeted us, and for drinks, we all wanted water and a glass of Starmont Cab, and she suggested we get the bottle instead. With soft tannins and hints of berry-olive, it would be great with with dinner. Unlike some people I know, this place has class with understated elegance… white tablecloths, and formal table setting, The clientele is mostly older and business persons impressing their clients. This would be perfect for a celebration, and my co workers and I definitely were celebrating. We were the laughing table and did our best to keep our volume down. One of my co-workers looked around and said«hey Will, there are a bunch of old people here… but you’re the only person in a wheelchair». ‘-haha…the night was full of sly comments and laughter The menu was impressive with creative classic and adventurous items, i.e. gluten free appetizers such as Octopus salad. The gluten options included Kobe beef and shrimp lobster sliders. The also have vegetarian small plate options such as strawberry endive salad. Despite being tempted by scallops, Maryland crab cake(with no fillers), salmon, duck and pork entrees, we wanted beef. And our waitress made it a point it was grass fed beef. which I know is. leaner with more heart healthy, anti cancer Omega 3’s than grain fed beef. Three if us had the Rib eye special, including me. The portions were generous, the rub on the meat was bursting with flavor. When we cut into the meat, all of ours were cooked almost perfectly though my medium was closer to medium rare which was fine with me. Seared nicely, slicing the tender juicy meat was easy, and we all said«mmm» several times. The yummy local potatoes and spinach sides was fresh and texture of the potatoes was smooth. It complimented the delicious beef. Two in the party had Beef Wellington, with filet mignon inside a crust with veggies. It was excellent, too but one was overcooked. People in thr office said that overcooked meat has happened to them as well. For dessert we shared a slice of chocolate sea salt layer cake. It was excellent, rich and moist. I told the big boss the next day about our nice dining experience. He said General Warren royally messed up the last time he hosted 18 people last Christmas. They did not get the room they reserved, and the servers dumped the appetizers onto their tables. Thankfully, our night went well. And hopefully we can come back.,

The plate charge is high for the quality of the food. The rib eye was tough and all the sides needed a lot of seasoning. I DONOTRECOMMENDTHISPLACETOANYONE!

Overview: review from guy and girl – essentially a 100 dollar bill for an over cooked, veiny steak and tasteless pork that took about an hour too long to come to our table. I took my girlfriend out for what I hoped would be a nice dinner. After all, most people on here rate this place highly. The place had a classy and cozy vibe often associated with high end food, but don’t be fooled. I had the PA Proud Denver steak that came with crab couscous and asparagus. The steak was overlooked and veiny. It blew my mind just how veiny it was. It became apparent the chef/chef team doesnt particularly care about the choice of meat it serves its customers. The crab couscous sure sounds delicious doesnt it? Well, if you like your crab couscous cooked in what tastes like 2 full sticks of butter, this is the couscous for you. It was disgusting. Even the asparagus was limp and tasteless. It was an unfortunately disgusting meal that left me completely dissatisfied. The only saving grace was leaving this place and stopping at giant for pints of Ben and Jerry’s. Some other review said it best: I could have had a better, much better, and cheaper meal at outback steak house, without having to deal with the«high end, la-ti-da fancy pantsness» of the place. The server was nice and attentive, but decent service can’t make up for shitty meal. Moreover, we placed our order at around 740, and it didn’t come out until a solid hour + later(it wasn’t particularly busy either) My girlfriends review follows: The service was okay, however all other aspects were subpar. I went to the inne with my boyfriend, and I ordered the prime pork loin. My pork was flavorless and left much to be desired. The mashed sweet potatoes and fried Brussels sprouts were the only part of the dish worth eating.
